Er, no, they would look at any queue of a ride they wish to experience, that has a relatively shorter queue, which in reality, could be that they queue for Stealth or any ride they had already reserved a spot on, to then re-ride on their booked slot, logic.
  3. Some coaster train wheels have to be of a minimum temperature to run freely and achieve the run; some loading platforms have wheel level heaters to assist that, Colossus being one of them. Therefore the fluctuations of temperature have a strong bearing on whether a ride will complete it's run. That said, most of the staff are seasonal and therefore the cost of retaining enough who are "currently" trained in the operation of the rides is prohibitive. The reasoning behind TP's closures at this time, in the supposed open season, is somewhat different.
  4. There is a private event I.e. Services Day on the 5th.
  5. That's very true, if one chooses, they could do that.
  6. I Love it, I was going to ask what diner he frequented.
  7. Without planning too much I had intended attending TP today to catch some reasonable weather and before my shifts start again - to find last evening that it is not open. I may be the only one, but Fright Nights are of no interest to me except for perhaps getting some late rides, be it with an extra payment. Annoyed I'll now have to think about doing some things around the home. Frustrated that I haven't ridden a coaster since Sunday, and not much time left.
  8. I did hear this recently, someone passing Colossus announced "I'm not going on that again, the last time it killed me!" I'm sure it wasn't a "zombie" from fright nights.

Apparently it went technical while I was at the park, and people I spoke with later, said that the precautions taken to ensure all was operating correctly were about twice the amount of previous runs, and managerial clearances now included take a while. It's not a favourite ride for me though when we went on, there was no queue and we walked straight back on for a second ride.

Rode it a few times on Saturday, quite varied rides as to smoothness, differing trains.
  11. When a ride is moving through several others zones, how can it be themed? No other area at BPB is themed other than Nickelodeon Land which is on it's own. Other rides move through zones, but are not themed. I suppose there is some possibility around the queue area.

Okay, I am an addict, tea at any time, pause or hesitate then the kettle goes on - strong and only a brief introduction to the cow, no sugar since I was eleven - and it's not because it was on rationing.
  13. As said, watch Kingda Ka for test runs. For me, El Toro was great; a fast wooden coaster with plenty of airtime. We are all different. I always suggest as you get into a park, go for the biggest ride you want, that is furthest away from the entrance. Enjoy your trip.
  14. I do love that section on Cheetah Hunt. The location for the BPB item was mapped out when I visited in April. The pillar locations and the launch site (at least one) were marked out too. There is nothing in that concrete bunker which was water filled, so that may be part of it. They are limited by the existing items around which this will run. They cannot separate the ride and area so theming is limited.
  15. It's called a "Pleasure Beach" which, as you indicate, is not a theme park. The physical position of BPB is restricted, but is arguably the best seaside park in the UK. The attendance of the public at BPB does not need to be attracted by theming but by new items which may differ from their present items.
  16. Okay, thanks for that; my fingers are crossed for this though.
  17. Can I ask what you mean by that?
  18. I'm interested, I'm very interested. Single rider coming through!

    It's handy if it rains.

I know I said it to some of the group on Sunday, but I used to love the feeling of "now what's it doing?" and the effects, I.e. noise, wind, and I believe water spray. The stuttering movements created a feeling of insecurity for new riders, for me it was good.

I preferred the original format. Now, it's like a kiddie coaster.
  23. Really? I think they were lucky that the fine was not more, but look here as to costs... http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/5-million-fine-for-alton-towers-owners-merlin-entertainment-ltd-over-smiler-roller-coaster-accident/story-29754241-detail/story.html
  24. Merlin have to make a statement in Court to emphasize the overall improvements now in place to avoid the possibility of a further incident; this will have to reassure the public that it is now safer than it apparently was at the time of the incident.
