Wow, I like the new meet box Good to see there is already a meet planned, and it is around 6 weeks time and that is what people said the time should be! EDIT: is it just my screen or has the next meet been taken away? It still says next meet but displays no meet there!

If x's trains are going to be turned forward it is going to need a retheme! This is because they will advertise it as a new ride and it will have queues like storm surge did, way over an hour. When you go on x they make you queue outside in some weird garden area and then you go through the pyramid straight onto the ride. If the queues are 1hr+ there will be no where for people to queue as the garden area is tiny and they don't like you queueing inside the pyramid! Also, if x does get rethemed I would love to see it themed to do with something 'amity' although it is in the lost city it seems like it is in amity cove as it is right behind storm surge which is in amity cove. I think x should be retheme something do with water and amity cove and should be classified as in amity cove instead of lost city. It could have special effects like water spraying etc. instead of having flashing strobes in the dark! The lights could be turned off however there would be lights lighting up scenery and effects meaning that they would never have to turn the lights on. I am wondering if it is possible to put spinning cars on x no way out, like euro Mir except it would be shorter and worse but with Themeing it would be quite cool! I think if people wanted to see the theming the cars would generally need to be turned forwards or spinning as when you are going backwards you can't see anything. Also if x put some twists where the block breaks are and some overhead restraints if the train was going forwards it would make the ride total awesomeness As for shows coming back, I doubt it as they have removed time voyagers and if they were putting shows they would have never got rid of it. However, they could have taken it down to install a better show there!

How do you know? For all anyone knows thorpe could have a new flat ride. X will not turn forwards as far as I'm concerned, it would cost too much money and its not just a case of turning seats around. It would be very hard to do this as there would be lots to deal with such as force, logistics etc. there would also be a lack of appeal because if x was turned forward, it wouldn't be x no way out for a start, the whole ride would need a refurb and also it would surely need to be moved down into thrilling and fun! Also it would totally ruin the concept of worlds first backwards coaster in the dark, simply not an option. There are too many rumours going on, people are even saying swarm will be turned backwards, that is not going to happen either as it would take to much work and you wouldn't be able to appreciate the near misses. Also it would ruin the idea of there front row queue system as there wouldn't be a front row! As far as I'm concerned, it's either a new ride(this is unlikely) or a ride refurb(probably x) Nothing else can really change at this stage unless something like Canada creek is demolished and loggers leap and rocky express are retheme. CCR will reopen and be called the lost railway or something like that... This would mean lost city would become biggest area in the park as I feel it is like the major area of the park. It would need better themeing though as swarm island, saw island and amity cove are all better themed than it! Nothing else is going to happen at this stage in time, for some people they still haven't ridden the swarm and they may well want to ride it forwards, x would become worse going forwards and demolishing a land is unlikely. Although, at the moment distinction between one land and the next is nothing but a sign!

That sucks doesn't it I may post the idea to zierer anyway, they could make a funfair model which I think will be awesome! After all everyone has their own opinion...
-
I had got plans so I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway although it would have been nice to come! I have never been to Madame tussadus and you went which made me wanna go! However, I can get myself down there some time anyway! I have also been to winter wonderland twice this winter and me going again would just lead to me spending more money Just wondering, at Madame Tussaud's is there a priority queue like London dungeon?
-
Yes, it must be something like that, I knew detonator was literally launched down the tower but I thought extremis would be one of those baby, bouncy towers Goes to show, even if a ride is small, it can be really intense!
-
Yea, that's probably true, but the only thing I can think of is either a new ride or a ride refurb! New restaurant or something isn't gonna really excite people... They are keeping this secret until soon, just wondering, can thorpe not release plans to the public and keep it secret? Maybe this is why people are saying there will be nothing new, but thorpe could have secret plans aiming to suprise people. Whether it is a refurb or a new ride, I think thorpe will need one of them to bring the guests back, I have a merlin pass so I will be visiting anyway Also there is nothing on the website to hint anything new at all! It can't be the crash pad because that has already been revealed, it can't be something to do with park wifi or extended dome opening hours because all of those have been released! I really wonder what it will be, I drove past thorpe the other day and couldn't see anything new but that's probably because if there was a new ride it would have been covered by trees, something like that! Thorpe please bring something amazing!(preferably a flat ride )
-
I was about to post this up My guess is a new ride of some sort- it has to be they can't just reveal more clues on the crash pad lol... Wonder what it will be really, even if it isn't a ride, maybe just like a x no way out refurb it will be interesting to know what it is! I really hope we get something good, personally I would love a new flat ride at thorpe something like danters extreme or speed flip
-
Maybe you could make like a Tpm meet box at the top of the page which says the next upcoming Tpm meets, that way people can be reminded! All the same he should have created a reminder... I would have loved to come aswell, for another visit to winter wonderland but I had already organised plans to the dungeons anyway! It's weird that I didn't see you guys there as we were at the dungeons a bit later than ten!

It really depends where you go, but generally funfairs have rides which are better run. For instance showtime and vortex are both kmg afterburners but showtime is much scarier and spins much faster! TopBuzz and samurai are both mondial Topscans but TopBuzz is run much faster and spins faster than samurai does. Ultimately if you want a ride on a good Topscan you either go to a funfair or ask for a good setting and get it on samurai(barely ever happens!) Anyway, we are going off the point of samurai here, what I would like to see for next season is samurai upgraded or removed. I would much rather a zierer starshape being in the place of it. Unless samurai is upgraded or run at its full potential, I would personally like to see it demolished soon and replaced with a better ride(zierer starshape, speed flip, superstar etc.) I had an idea for a double ended zierer starshape, it would be operated like a fabbri booster is, loading and unloading one side then going round slowly and doing the other side, it would then be run up to speed with both end arms rotating different ways and the centre arm rotating in one direction! I reckon loading would be about the same as samurai or vortex takes and the ride time could be the same as samurai meaning that it would get double the throughput as it has 60 people per ride, I think it would be a real hit but zierer will need to make it first

I know what you mean and I honestly prefer theme parks for rollercoasters. However, if you wanna experience flat rides fun fairs is where you need to go! Thorpe park 1979 said that he could go on the same or better rides at merlin parks but the matter of fact is you can't go on the same ones!
-
Just thinking about it, how did extremis become so intense while it is so small? I thought it was as nearly as intense as detonator was!
-
Yes that's true, merlin parks don't have the wide range of rides funfairs do! You will never see something like 2extreme or a booster at a merlin park! You must try them funfair rides are much better than the ones at theme parks and you get much longer ride time! Winter wonderland is expensive but if you visit somewhere else your only paying £3/4 a ride and if you go to a John Davis funpark you can get on everything unlimited times for only £7.99! This includes rock rage, tango, super spin and a booster which are all epic and you can ride as many times as you like! Definately worth a visit, mate funfairs are a completely different experience! http://www.johndavisfunfairs.co.uk/funpark.html The funpark is definately worth a visit, he tours around the country and brings out rides like energy storm and the ones I've listed above etc.
-
Where are you at? I can suggest some fairs which have good possibility of having funfair topscans. However, the only Topscan I've ever been on is xtreme(rieger) at villacher kirchtag,Austria. It is much better on a funfair Topscan but much crazier so if you don't really like craziness I don't reccomend going on it!
-
I mean I would love samurai if I didn't get these poorly run settings-it is no where nearly as good as a funfair Topscan, simple as that! As for my favourite in the park, I guess it would be rush followed by samurai but I am still yet to ride slammer!
-
I guess I'm just doing normal stuff and maybe a few extras: Of course trips down to thorpe and chessie I will try make a trip to alton either October half term or summer. Giezelwind theme park+nurnberg volksfest(Germany) in Easter Villacher kirchtag(Austria) in summer + maybe Wien prater Generally, I would love to visit six flags great adventure, New Jersey so I can ride kingda ka This may sound like a lot but half the things aren't planned and are just places I'd like to go to (alton towers, giezelwind theme park etc.) I think nurnberg volksfest looks so cool because it features of rides like power tower 2, sky rocker, high energy, skater etc. Giezelwind theme park I would like to go to because it has a boomerang and I have never been on a backwards inverting rollercoaster!
-
The ONLY good thing about storm surge and I mean ONLY is that it takes away a small amount of queues from other ridesa around the park, if it wasn't there queues would be much longer and I can't stand queueing over an hour (once queued 80 mins for nemesis inferno we got so bored it barely moved up and the queue time board said 30 mins making us frustrated!) I usually result in buying a fastrack for one ride if it is over an hour like I have done once on stealth and once on swarm before. If storm surge didn't have all the new guests making the queue 30 mins- 1 hour then we would be finding other queues around 5-10 mins longer! Also if I'm to go on a water ride at thorpe, first choice will be loggers unless its a hot day when I choose tidal wave. Been on storm surge twice(both with 0 mins queues) and I have to say both times I hated it also because there is a massive puddle of water in the boat and you have to hold your feet up on the way up the lift hill!
-
Well thats not very useful is it? It is a bit like snow jet how someone can just pull up the little lever and unlock your restraint- if these rides are going to be properly safe they need some sort of double locking system. If it just had a normal seatbelt then the seatbelt part would be fairly useless as someone would be bound to muck about and take it off, resulting in them falling out of the boat etc. The thing about storm surge is that the queues would be absolutely tiny if thorpe had the same guests coming back over and over again- but thorpe has massives of new guests who want to go and they think storm surge looks cool when it is absolutely rubbish and barely spins anymore.
-
The fact that samurai couldn't stop without taking 2 mins left me very disappointed after riding- we got on with absolutely no queue and asked for a great setting, they didnt even listen to us and decided to give us one of the worst settings I have ever experienced! It went round really slowly and only went round 2 times. It then took an age to stop and centre itself. After going on a good ride on saw(with 0 mins queue) we went back to samurai to see if we could get a longer ride! We came over seeing that samurai was doing the annoying thing where it takes an age to centre itself and joined the queue(there wasnt a queue but we had to wait till the next ride). A member of the ride team came over to us and told us that we had to leave the queue because of "rain problems." The matter of fact is that it wasn't even raining and we watched the ride for another 5 mins and it wasn't going down and it was closed for the rest of the day. I think that samurai needs to be fixed for next season because without the faffing about, it can still only get a rubbish throughput of 500 people an hour! Also it was very disappointing that the park lied to us like that and didn't tell us what the problem actually was. Also samurai over the season has been opening at some really random times, once I got into the park at 9:30(park opening at ten) and everything was closed except samurai which had an opening time of 9:00 which was rather strange, the weird thing was though there were only a few people in the queue(less than 15) and they weren't bothering about the fact that there must be 15 people per ride. Also other times it has opened at 3:30pm and once it opened at 5:00pm when the park was closing at six. It also closed once at 12:00 and then seemed to reopen for the last half hour of the day. The weird thing is it says that it is going to close and open at these times so it must have some sort of works going on. Very strange indeed...
