    Wicker Man

In a way Merlin have run out of ideas, because they have most types of coaster already at the park. And in a way they haven't, because they're always on the lookout for the next big thing, and with new rollercoaster ideas always emerging, like any industry, keeping up with the latest craze can be a struggle at times. We must remember that Th13teen and The Smiler are custom coasters - one could say Th13teen's development was an experiment for Intamin. It's not often Merlin buy a coaster off the shelf without some form of customising it. Woodies are a fantasy when it comes to Merlin's parks - something that we've been wishing for and haven't seen, so it's likely not to happen soon. Battlestar Galactica at Universal Studios in Singapore is one coaster I'd like to see. If you haven't seen it, here's a teaser.
  2. Look back at things over the last few years, Chessington have generally been toning things down at a very slow pace for a more family-orientated approach. Granted, the target audience and the previous "Where families come first" slogan has been drilled into us for longer than that. Although Professor Burp wasn't a scary ride for kids, I see the Imperial Leather version more friendly and enjoyable for children.
  3. I've mainly seen the tax-disc style licence on flat rides: Vortex, Zodiac, Samurai, Slammer, Teacups, Black Buccaneer, Rameses, Peeking Heights, Kobra and probably some at Alton Towers which I can't think of right now. I think I've also spotted it on the control cabin windows of Colossus and Inferno.
  4. That's crap, even on a quiet day.
  5. Yeah, they never give up!
  6. Yes I have, and...? I am not getting into this again. It's simple, the rope bothers me more than the tunnel bothers others. Now let's get back on topic...
  7. God bless Google. And I know some stuff about the industry, not everything.

    Music

Chvrches - brilliant music. And no, I have spelt it correctly.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure they won't be removing anything, but it would be nice to open it up a bit.
  10. OK - but IMO X Sector is still one of the "darkest" areas in the park. The surrounding trees have always made it feel such a small, crammed area. I don't suppose they can remove some of these because it's right by the road? It would open the area up nicely. Oblivion can be heard from the Chained Oak B&B, and Enterprise can be seen slightly through the trees if you're walking along the road, and you can hear it humming away slightly too. I wonder how far the Smiler noises will travel?
  11. I was under the assmuption that ADIPS was the car tax for rides, e.g a requirement with an annual cost and expiry date? So is it voluntary and not a requirement, can rides operate without them?
  12. Not all over. Submission is black and blue with the silver bits at the top. And Enterprise is black. Or has that been repainted different colour when it was taken away this closed season?
  13. The trouble is now that Oblivion is black, so is every other ride in X Sector! Dull attack.
  14. It's not Towers Times I found it on and I found the full version.
  15. It probably will be, out in the open. A few weeks ago you'll recall the Dragon Falls debate and I went on about H&S - who's to say that the tunnel here had been deemed unsafe by H&S? The park may have been given the chance to fix it but decided on the cheaper option instead.Has it definitely gone?
  16. Probably are the same people. This healthy choice they promote is crap!
  17. Yes! Search online for food offerings at theme parks across the UK. You'll find a lot of criticism!
  18. There's a link I've stumbled across somewhere with it on, I'll have to re-find it. Not entirely missed as this is played on Extraordinary Golf.
  19. I'm deadly serious, Bubbles1. Couldn't give a damn if the tunnel has gone, at least now we can see! But the Stealth rope I just hate. It's the small things which I take note of, they're sometimes key to good or bad presentation.
  20. I tried the burgers from the BBQ and they weren't all that. Most of the food they serve is near-enough charcoaled! I've stopped going there, and KFC, well I won't even step inside any branch! Rank.
  21. But why ditch the Chessington and Alton ones then? I don't always fancy a burger, it did use to be case I would only use McDonald's at Chessington and Alton, but I stopped that years ago because no sooner had I swallowed it and got on a ride, I was hungry again!
  22. I like it - at one point, I had it as my ringtone. And it's 10 this year! I can think of 2 bad tracks - the old Pirate Blasta music that used to be used in Pirates Cove when it was near Seastorm. And the selection of tunes for the Rattlesnake entrance.
  23. I'm sick of this. Why are Thorpe such a special case?! Well I am never using Burger King again anywhere, and I stopped having KFC's about 6 years ago. I'll still use PH though because that's different, they may be the only PH in Merlin parks but they deserve their place.
  24. Stealth still bothers me more.
