Alton offers so many jobs to the local area... They really need to start considering how much money Alton brings to the area.

Towers is a joke at the moment. Later opening times allows people to justify a longer journey. So more customers, so more money. Especially if they are in the middle of no where. Chessington has taken a step in the right direction alton however has taken 2 steps back.

I'll just stand in this dark corner of the forum and wait for paramount park.

Ha they also removed the RMT head choppers. Sort of happy I have only chosen to go for 2 days not 3. What is up with Merlin this year. I hated them last year but this is just a whole new level.

Alton Towers General Discussion
Alton was already hard to get everything done as it is too large. Glad to see they have made it even harder. Truly terrible decision by the park to have staggered openings. The loss of single rider also makes it harder. Budget cuts which also happen to drive up fastrack sales.

New for 2015 - Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure
Spinball has to go at some point. Its planning permission is only a temporary thing. I'm not sure if they can extend it or make it permanent however at this current moment in time it will have to leave.

So a week extra would have seen the shambles at the start of the season be non-existent.

I am fully aware of what engineering have to go through. I was merely stating that regardless of the reason management would have taken action. They are not just going to sit there with major rides closed and not ask questions. Someone taking responsibility doesn't mean they are going to get punished. It just identifies a fault and allows management to take actions to prevent it happening again. In some cases prevention will be impossible but they will still want to know what has happened and who's fault is it.

Well end of the day something has gone wrong and someone needs to be held responsible. Not sure sacking someone is the way forward though but accountability in a buisness is key. Merlin is a multimullion pound company so I'm quite sure someone has been held responsible.

You say that but September/October/November I think are the worst times for ride reliability. The best time in theory should be march however it would seem merlin has failed on that one. Alton should have their rides ready as they seem to have some sort of management in their engineering department. Then again you never know.

Great start CWOA. It has somehow beaten Thorpe. There must have been budget cuts. The chances that both parks do pretty much the same thing is just too low. I can't wait to see what it's like during the summer.

I dont like the sound of that I would much prefer some sort of broken screen or broken effect put on the lovely wooden fence.

Closed Rides
Engineering is there to minimise the need for resources. If it is designed well enough a spare would not be needed. Also as accumulators are expensive a spare would be an unwise investment. The chances of one being completly destroyed beyond repair is small.

Paultons Park
What a lovely looking investment. The first kiddie coaster I've seen in a while where I am actually impressed with what they have done.

Alton Towers General Discussion
Personally I would say that Nemesis sub terra was never good and a waste of the money they spent on it. Rides with actors are so not the way forward. They are so expensive to run and as a result end up with a short life span.

Nemesis and air are on early ride time.

It could always be a response to the many health and safety failings they were picked up on.

Both of those end up in the park loosing money. A fastrack doesn't cost the park anything and encourages them back to spend more.

Chessington General Discussion
Well there isn't much else they can give a park full of annual pass holders.

Closed Rides
It would seem Thorpe park have withdrawn their earlier tweets of 90% of rides are open. They do seem to still be getting a fair amount of complaints.

Alton Towers General Discussion
I take it merlin has cut budgets across the board. Hence why a lot of rides seem to not have finished winter maintenance. I understand they are trying to maximise returns for shareholders but I don't think that cutting budgets so much that rides have to close and park hour are reduced to stupid times is the right way forward. Alton is in the middle of no where. If the park isn't open for very long then people just wont go.
