Duncanc reacted to Hethetheth in Thorpe Park Withdrawal SymptomsThis is the year I've felt least enthused to go to Thorpe Park, and this year I've missed it the least. Nowadays what keeps me returning is the simple fact it's the biggest park near to me rather than anything else.
Visits to Thorpe since 2015:
2015: 2
2016: 5
2017: 4
2018: 3
2019: 1
The reasons are simple.
1. Thorpe are taking rides away and replacing them with nothing.
2. The only additions are temporary upcharge experiences or rethemes.
What I do miss though are Stealth, Inferno, the Swarm and Walking Dead, which I actually rather like despite the bizarre retheme choice. I look forward to Fright Nights next year also.

Duncanc got a reaction from TPJames in Thorpe Park Withdrawal SymptomsAnyone else getting withdrawal symptoms or is it just me? It isn't even so much the roller coasters and rides I miss as a whole; but the theme tune as you arrive and walk down the bridge, the iconic themed music to each ride, the scenery around the park, I don't know what it is but I visited a fair amount of times last season, 3 or 4 times over Halloween and loved it each and every time. I need an adrenaline fix asap. #2020.

Duncanc reacted to Kerfuffle in Thorpe FarmThorpe just hasn't had any places of "escapism" from the rest of the park ever since the farm closed. It's funny how Towers have the Gardens, Chessington have the lawn outside Burnt Stub Manor (and HAD the other lawn which Pandamonium now occupies) and Legoland I guess have Miniland, the closest Thorpe have to any places of tranquility is Sunken Gardens...which of course since 2006 has had Stealth parked right next to it! The main thing a few members of my family agree on is that Thorpe of course generates a lot of noise nowadays and there's just nowhere you can get away from it. Personally I see their point. As a kid, the farm always felt completely isolated from the rest of the park. And the train ride there was the best bit if I'm honest! But although I really can't see the farm returning anytime soon, they can at least provide something similar for a little escapism.
But the question is what could replace it? It has to be something that would attract guests to an area of that distance and back in the day, an interactive farm was of course the idea of family friendly acitivity away from the park. Whereas nowadays there aren't a lot of options left, especially with the park's current audience.

Tidal Wave is undergoing some major work it's lift, with the evacuation/inspection steps being replaced completely.
The cobra of Colossus is also under scaffolding. Probably just general maintenance.
And yes, Old Town is getting a couple of (needed) kids rides (from the old ride section at Weymouth Sea Life). The boat ride has already been installed and replaced Zeke's Shack I believe.
The other drop ride hasn't been installed yet but foundations are apparently getting built near the old Noodle place.
And Rumba seems to be receiving a fair bit of attention too. They could be returning the ride to make it completely different from its existing carnation. Or probably just giving the attraction some extensive maintenance.

Duncanc reacted to Odyessy in Thorpe FarmThe Farm is used for another purposes now - the buildings are used for storage and the Landscaping team use it develop some plants / trees before planting them around the park
Since there's so little space for that sort of stuff to be done elsewhere, it's unlikely the Farm area would ever be opened to guests ever again
