  1. Haha, they almost had me convinced that it wasn't supposed to happen! Fair play to them.
  2. Went to Thorpe yesterday with my son who has just hit 1.4m, so it was his first Swarm and Stealth experience. He loved them! Overall we had a really nice day with the staff all happy and friendly. Brainiac Live was also really entertaining! I'm interested to know, during the electric fence part of the show one of the Brainiacs bent over to pick something up and 'accidentally' gave himself an electric shock through his backside. It actually seemed quite genuine though, was this all part of the show?
  3. I also went yesterday, totally agree that it was very well done. I have two children so did the whole meet Father Christmas thing. It was really well done and everyone was in good spirits (honourable mention goes to the guys on Laser Raiders). I think because of the children the entry price was worth it. The decorations look great too. The new Father Christmas location worked a lot better this year too. Only downside was it was FREEZING after 3.00pm! Can't really blame Legoland for that though eh?

    X

The Blade vampire nightclub music they play sometimes on X is called Confusion (Pump Panel Reconstruction) by New Order. Still love that tune! They should never remove that.

    Wicker Man

My three year old daughter will burst with excitement when she sees the Cbeebies Land for the first time. It is a VERY popular channel and can no way be called a "dead IP".
  6. Unfortunately Windsor is just one of those places where a lot of residents feel they are 'above' the likes of Legoland. I work around the Windsor area quite a bit and there's a definite vibe of people feeling like they're a cut above. Of course this is generalising everyone and obviously they're not all really like this, but the vibe feels like that, the same as other wealthy areas in Surrey. The whole town kicking up a fuss holds a lot of sway with councils.
  7. It's not that the roughness was designed deliberately, but it just happens to work in the theme's favour anyway.
  8. Sounding a bit derogatory there to be honest. I see nothing wrong with saying what I did about Saw. The roughness DOES work in the theme's favour, just as people can say Colossus DOES now fit the theme with its rustiness. It may not be deliberate but these things sometimes just happen and work out. I know it's personal preference but I would take a rough Saw, Colossus or Smiler over a super smooth ride like Air or something any day. Actually, that makes it sound like I'm hating on it, I'm not, but when I go on a ride I want to feel like I've done something intense and frankly brutal. I certainly don't want to relax in complete comfort. As for the IP, I see no problem with it, it helped pull the crowds at launch and the ride is still going strong. Does a horror film IP have to be current then? I don't think so. It's a well known IP and will remain so for a long time.
  9. Saw always gets a bad rep for its roughness, and whilst I understand everybody's different and some people may get headaches etc, at the end of the day the ride is based on a horror film. It should leave you feeling like you've been assaulted, you're supposed to feel like you've somehow survived. A ride that's B&M smooth just wouldn't work for a ride based on Saw.
  10. I would never want a quieter version of Rush. The sheer anger of the sound it makes is a lovely thing. It says "ride me if you dare, but I'm not going to have mercy".
  11. Hi all, thought I'd sign up as I am a regular at Thorpe and Chessington. My name is Dave aka Huzzellio. I'm 36 years old and have been visiting Thorpe since the days of Cinema 180 and Space Station Zero. Personally have a love affair going on with Rush at the moment, can't get enough of Saw and still walk around the Swarm in awe of the theming. Anyway, hello!
