  1. I also cant believe I didn't recognise that spinning tunnel in cabin in the woods being from the queue in X! I haven't been on it in several years, has it gotten slower then? I'll aim to go on it again when I go in a few weeks time but its never top of my priorities to be honest. it's theme seems a bit random, I don't see how it links to what Its around, kind of like Cyberdog the ride lol. With a retheme could be a lot better

  2. ive seen their social media teams give two completely opposite answers to the same question before. I hope it reopens, although I didn't often go on it when it was colder, its a great ride for the summer for sure would be a shame for it to sit there unused!

I liked the music from last year, was the only good thing about Big Top. Seems like an unnecessary expense but hey ho, really going all out to make it different to last year.

yeah in their words 'completely reimagined' whatever that means, I don't know if there was much of a storyline last time but maybe this will change? I heard there was a poor opening scene with a clairvoyant or something like that before.

Also may have been asked before but can you buy single maze fast track?

Cabin in the Wood: The Maze****

FRIGHT NIGHTS veterans will be familiar with this classic as it returns for its third season. In this attraction be prepared for anything including getting totally lost and even separated from your group as you take on the who’s who of the horror genre. Discover the secret that lies within the seemingly innocent rustic cabin and keep your wits about you to outsmart the creatures that embody the secret of the Cabin in the Woods.

The Blair Witch Project: Scare Zone**

Don’t be fooled by this scare zone’s two-star rating, the legend of the Blair Witch is alive and well and waiting for you to enter her domain. Following Lionsgate's recent release of Blair Witch, the highly anticipated sequel to horror classic The Blair Witch Project, we’ve upped our game with this chilling journey into the cursed woods with new scenes and twists. Venture deeper into the Black Hills Forest and face the truth behind the legend of the Blair Witch. Remember: Never spend the night. Never look in her eyes. Never turn away from the corner. There’s something evil hiding in the woods - dare you enter after night fall?

    SAW Alive: The Maze****

FRIGHT NIGHTS favourite Jigsaw is back, and guess what? He wants to play a game. There’s a reason we keep inviting him back year after year and now it’s time for you to come face to face with the sadistic Billy puppet and face his nightmarish challenges. Wind your way through his lair, escape his twisted traps and discover what it means to be alive. Live or die, make your choice.

    THE BIG TOP *****

Completely reimagined for 2016, grab your tickets for the greatest scare on Earth as the carnival comes to town once again this October. If creepy clowns aren’t your thing, we advise you to stay away from the Figaro Bros. and their cast of warped miscreants whose particular brand of entertainment we can guarantee will do anything but leave a smile on your face.

    Platform 15

    Before Dark**

    After Dark*****

All aboard! NEW FOR 2016, take your turn to walk the Island’s deserted railroad in the newest live action scare maze to join the notorious FRIGHT NIGHTS line-up. Depart on a one way ticket and trek along the overgrown railway line, the last known route of the vanished locomotive – the infamous Sleeper Express. Don’t lose your tracks and risk disturbing the haunted souls that were once aboard or you may just experience the same chilling fate. Can you outrun what lies at the end of the line? Dare you try it after dark and take on a whole new level of fear?

  5. oh my god!! I mean I wouldn't mind the actors wearing (or not wearing) whatever, but for them to ask you to do that aswell probably a bit too much for me if I'm honest. The line has to be drawn somewhere lol

I'd love to do something scarier than the typical fright night maze experience which is what attracted me to it, but I don't understand how me taking my jumper off is going to add anything to my experience haha. Agreed on the extreme=nudity, its like the channel 4 of the maze world...

and I'm guessing the actors are allowed to do more than just a tap on the shoulder? lol. I think its a good thing they can express themselves more so than when the maze is open to the public though.

  6. hmm fully alone I think I would be a lil bit terrified, persuading my friends who are new to mazes to join me on that may also be a struggle too  it is something I'd love to do but I don't think I'm brave enough hmm, plus on the night I'm going its pot luck what maze you get!

TBF Big Top's problems didn't lie in the length.

The Maze was actually pretty long compared to the rest!

But I think the new layout/tent may iron out some of TBT issues.

Well considering its replacing MBV it should be a easy job.

Platform is basically replacing a 1 minute walk through dark shipping containers..

lol MBV seemed quite lacking in actors on my go through it, all I remember is the crawling through the tunnel which didn't scare me was just a bit strange.  I think mixing the indoor and outdoor for P15 could be interesting, Ouija boards sounds a cool idea too.

Regarding TBT, I meant I hope they have taken the feedback and are making changes for the better, good to know it isn't short though!

For face it alone, can you go in a 2 or 3 or does it have to be alone? I think I am too chicken to do it actually alone, but I did the tom spindler mazes in London when they popped up in a group of 2 which was great fun and terrifying. It sounds like the only experience that could compare to those ones in terms of scare factor!

  8. They did say TBT has 'new scenes' on the park map so maybe it's extended by quite a bit? Didn't go last year so I'm hoping that when I go this year they've fixed the multitude of issues it has I've read about on this forum!

Cabin in the woods and saw alive don't say new scenes but I remember reading them saying saw alive has a 'new twist' for 2016 and mentioned jigsaw, wonder what that will be!

The story line is so weak. I heard several people saying the same thing. They would have been happy with the ride if they had left through the tunnel in the live bit and never did the second VR section as the effects were poor and it made no sense to them. Reliability really needs improving though, it is unacceptable how unreliable it is.

does it usually manage to open first thing? was trying to decide the best time of the day to queue for it, was thinking going there at park opening was our best bet but don't want to waste time if we get there to find its not open yet. Their twitter is often full of people angry that it keeps breaking down!

  10. I'm going on the first Saturday. Wanted to do Sunday for that very reason (being much quieter) but unfortunately that was the only date my group was free. Hoping queues won't be awful, I didn't get round all of the mazes last time so BWP still new to me but I think I went later in the season. Getting there for 10, hopefully will fit everything in.

The queue-times.com website is pretty useful for historic queue times although doesn't have mazes on there. Being a stats geek I'm all over that.

Definitely would prefer to do platform 15 after dark though, I know its open from 3 but I don't feel like it will have the same effect unless its just a ton of shipping containers joined together for 400m lol... also I couldn't seem to find where Thorpe park are asking which roaming characters to bring back, I remember they had weird monk people one year? And you're next actors another.

I've used 2 for 1 tickets on Fright Nights before, just not the "peak" ones - which would explain 21-31 October being invalid (as it's half term weeks)

Thanks! It was the 'this excludes all events' wording that worried me. But well they've said its ok and it's not clear so I'll just talk their ear off until they let us in if they get funny about it :P we have the barcode tickets which don't look much different to normal online tickets.

But what a way to go! ;)

Should have said it was caused by Saw: The Ride :D

well if you're times up you may as well go out on a high note! yes I should have said that, maybe the saw queue would have reduced!! I was wearing a large ball gown aswell (don't ask haha) so that was fun on the rides.....

Studying for a chemistry exam while queuing for Colossus a long time ago I can't forget some strange people in the queue saying to my friend and I they thought we had chemistry together. There isn't really anywhere to escape the awkwardness in a queue either....

people saying in rhumba rapids queue that it is possible to get the ride vehicle stuck in that rocky area near the main entrance if you all run to one side, and that they were going to do it. what a great day that'd be.

  13. Agreed with the headache after coming off of it, does my neck in so bad! also quite annoying how bad the queue gets for it especially on fright night it seems to be bad all day and night! But then again it is 'scary' so that would be why. Trying to imagine the ride not being associated with the saw franchise will be weird but I suppose no different to the 'air' now 'galactica' the "all new ride" rebranding!

  14. I think that person is a troll based on their other messages lol.

So many stories at Thorpe in particular, I'm sure ill have some gems to post after my next trip.

I went in fancy dress one year at fright night, people coming up to me and asking if my horror makeup (big cuts, fake blood etc.) was real with a terrified look on their faces, yes instead of heading to a doctor I decided I should go to Thorpe park first for one last innings.

  15. I was originally quite excited for DBGT doing the minds wanted thing and keeping up with all the news on it, but after reading several non spoiler reviews I'm now very much feeling 'meh' about the whole thing! Though I will definitely go in it when I go in a few weeks time, I have no desire to queue for hours for it. I'm going to go in with low expectations and hope to be pleasantly surprised...

  16. been lurking on this thread the past week enjoying all the updates so I thought id join in! Going to fright nights this year, have been nearly every year for 10 years except last year. As such I haven't done the big top, and I didn't get a chance to go in blair witch when I last went either. Got a few good scares in cabin in the woods though and got to go in a group of 3 which was great fun! Hoping the big top isn't as bad as the curse...that maze was awful.

going on the 8th October, hoping queues won't be ridiculous but it is what it is, I don't know if the derren brown ride will draw more people as well as this new blair witch film. Also going to tulleys this year so will be interesting to compare the two, platform 15 looks promising though as does the sound of more roaming actors so I have higher hopes for this year!

  17. Hi all,

The response I've gotten from Thorpe park via facebook message has been a bit mixed on this question, at first they said yes and also said 'should be ok' but that's not really enough certainty to travel down on!

We have tickets online brought using the Kellogg's 241 code thing. The T&Cs are below, would you say that the 8th October as a fright night date would be ok? The part that worries me is the 'and any events across all attractions' despite them not stating this date in the exclusions.

"Offer EXCLUDES: 21st October – 31st October 2016 at THORPE PARK Resort, every Friday and Monday until Sunday 27th March 2016 and 29th – 31st October 2016 at The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, 28th – 31st October 2016 at The London, York and Edinburgh Dungeons and 1st -31st December at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, 25th December 2016 and any events or concerts including Christmas themed events across all Attractions as well as any secondary attractions within the Attractions for which an additional payment is or may be charged."

If we get there and they say no, I suppose I'd have to show them the communication I've had with them as they did say on a message it should be fine, surely they could just give a definitive answer!!

    thanks for your help.

    Jess
