@Zappomatic to be fair to Chessington Dragon Falls has been renamed to Tiger Rock. That being said your point is still valid as the area where Tiger Rock is located has been renamed to Land OF The Tiger from it’s original name of Mystic East. This means your point still stands as Chessington also have an area called Land Of The Dragons. I personally think that the employees in charge of naming the rides at Chessington need to become more inventive to prevent too much repetition as draw in more visitors & guests.

@MattyMooare you being serious or are you joking and taking the mick. @MattyMoo please say it’s the latter option as Crocodile Drop is an extremely simplistic name and will hardly drawn in the crowds. If I was in charge of naming the new Drop Tower I would call it Sobeck’s Shoot Up. @MattyMoo there is a rumour going around the Theme Park community that states a Fobbidon Kingdom classic may be returning, the classic ride is question is namely none other than the one and only Forbidden Tomb!! I hope this rumour is true as having a new Drop Tower as well as the return of a classic ride in one area will make Chessington’s 2021 season brilliant. This is not including the long awaited Blue Barnacle that has just docked into Chessington in preparation for its maiden voyage next year. With these 3 investments Chessington’s 2021 season is looking to be the best in the 33 year history of Chessington being a Theme Park.

@professorb I used an Indian tourist as an example as Darren Brown is not a known celebrity in India. A way to explain my point is the name Sandip Sopparker. If you lived in India you would definitely know who Sandip is as not only is he an extremely famous Bollywood dancer but, also part of a panel of judges on the Indian equivalent of X-Factor or Britain’s Got Talent. I only knew who Sandip is because my maternal Grandad is Indian and Sandip happens to be a distant relative of his. @professorb I hope this makes my example of an Indian tourist easier to understand. Please answer this truthfully, had you heard of Sandip Sopparker prior to reading my post? Thanks for reading my post Kind regards Theme Park Fanatic

@Ivsetti thanks for sharing your honest personal opinion on the names that I would have given to the trio of rides that are located in the newly created Rainforest land at Chessington.I I must admit that if I was not aware that Derren Brown's Ghost Train was a VR ride that messed with your mind. I would have thought that the ride was a traditional Ghost Train for instance like Duel The Haunted House Strikes Back at Alton Towers. The only difference I would expect is Derren Brown theming littered throughout the ride. If I was an Indian tourist who has never heard of Darren Brown I would be left scratching my head.

Who else other than myself thinks that the names of the rides within The Rainforest are dull and boring? Personally if I was put in charge of choosing the name of the rides within The Rainforest I would have chosen the following. I would have called the Jungle Rangers- Jungle Jeeps Rainforest Safari! I would have called River Rafts-Cascading Crocodiles! Finally I would have called Treetop Hoppers-Rainforest Jump! Can you please give me your opinions on the names Chessington chose for the rides within the new Rainforest area. Don't misunderstand my views as I think that the Rainforest is a vast improvement on the old and worn out Toadies Crazy Cars that formally was located on this piece of land within Chessington. If Croc Drop is set to the standards as this Rainforest area and Land Of The Tigers it will be highly themed attraction. I personally love Drop Tower's and if themed to a high quality I can definitely say that Croc Drop will be one of or possibly even my favourite attraction in an English Theme Park.

@JoshC. I hope that as Forbidden Kingdom is having the most investment it has had for what will be exactly 20 years when Croc Drop opens next season.Chessington revert back to calling Tomb Blaster Forbidden Tomb. I say this as earlier this year Chessington gave Tomb Blaster a darker more terrifying retheme. This retheme gives the ride a Terror Tomb like atmosphere. Also the Forbidden Tomb sign is still on the facade of the rides building. However this lovely themed sign is covered up by a s****y canvas that is draped over it. In my opinion since Tomb Blaster’s dark retheme the name Forbidden Tomb is far more appropriate. Not only does the Forbidden Tomb look more immersive but it tells riders that the ride could possibly scare young children. Chessington can’t even use the excuse that it would be to costly to change the name of the ride back to Forbidden Tomb. The reason for this being is that the sign is technically still there and is in pristine condition. The only money involved will be that used to rebrand the rides branding to that of Forbidden Tomb. -

@Hethetheth I must admit that all of my predictions are purely based on speculation. However I would not be at all surprised if at least some of my predictions come true. Please don’t hold me to any of my predictions @Hethetheth as I am certainly not a fortune teller/clairvoyant! -
Chessington General Discussion
Theme Park Fanatic replied to Ash's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
As we our over halfway though the 2020 Theme park season. I thought I would make a thread for anything related to the 2021 season at Chessington. Please share any closed season updates, news,Chessington trip reports and any pictures you may take here. As most of are probably awere yesterday Chessington applied for the Croc Drop trademark to be given to be given to the Sobek themed drop which is replacing the now closed Ramasis Ravenge. This has made me to create a thread on all of the changes I think we will see at Chessington next year. The chances I expect to see at Chessington for next season are as follows.1. The Wild Asia sign reinstated to the entrance portal to the area of the same name.2. The repaint of the giant Buddha in Land Of The Tigers to its original green colour3. The construction and opening of new swinging pirate ship The Blue Barnacle in Pirates cove4. The building and grand opening of Croc Drop in Forbidden Kingdom5 An minor refurbishment and rename of Forbidden Kingdom, like Transylvania received for the 2017 season6. New holiday lodges built in a similar design to the Enchanted Village at Alton Towers7. The relocation of the Gruffalo stage show to the former Pandamonium stage8. The relocation of the animal presentation to the former Gruffalo sage area9 The addition of Animatronics,Smell Pods and animatronics to the Rainforest10. The landscaping and turfing of the former Rodeo/Flying Jumbos site to become an Egyiption themed picnic and children’s playground area11. The arrival of Brazilian Tapirs to the enclosure the Capybaras vacated in order to move to the Rainforest12. The adaptation of the current Glamping restaurant in Wild Asia to become an Asian restaurant open to all visitors in which Bollywood music will play as you eat13. The return of the chandeliers to the Vampires station14. The retheme and return of the Peeking Hights ferris, which that has been in storage for the past three years. I think Peeking Hights will be relocated to Pirates Cove to replace SeaStorm, that will be removed over the closed season. I think that the Gondelas on Peeking Hights will be rethemed to Beer Barlles and the ride renamed. Can you please share your thoughts on my predictions for the 2021 season at Chessington World Of Adventures! -
Can somebody please tell me what the current state of Black Buckaneer's ride area is? I'm asking this as Blue Barnacle was due to reopen as in Black Buckaneer's domain a week after Lockdown began. Can someone please inform me of the Blue Barnacles manufacturer. All I know is that the Blue Barnacle is not a Huss Swinging Pirate Ship like it's predecessor was. Penultimatly can someone please tell me if the Blue Barnacle is new or second hand? If the latter is applicable can someone please name the Theme\Amusement park where it previously operated. Finally will the Blue Barnacle be operational when Chessington can finally reopen to the public on the 4th of July 2020

SteveJ how do you know that Vampire is finally receiving it's_much needed refurbishment? I truly hope this refurbishment restores Vampire to how John Wardley intended the ride and theme to be,three decades ago! In addition to this I hope this revamp enables Vampire to operate with three trains again. To be honest it wouldn't be an impossible request to deliver as Vampire previously operated with three train's. "With the Vampire hopefully being restored to its former glory as well as all the other refurbishment work going on around the park,I can definitely say that 2020 will be the best season Chessington World Of Adventure's has has in it's thirty-three year's of being a Theme park".

I hope that none of the rides and attractions at Drayton Mannor have been irreparably damaged ,by the flooding brought on by Storm Dennis. If Drayton Mannor had to demolish a ride or attraction it would be totally catastrophic. Flooding is the last thing that Drayton Mannor needed just as their recovering from the tragic Rapids accident of 2017. I sincerely hope that Drayton Mannor can repair thier flood damage and reputation. I hope that Drayton can remain a tourist attraction for many years to come.

I agree. The pit the boat sits in is already there,as is as the control booth and queline. The only work that will be required is the painting of the booth and queline and the errection of the boat and supports. I would also like Chessington to enhance the queline by adding more theming and even a new soundtrack. I wonder if the arrival of a new swinging pirate ship mean that the of Pirate's Cove will receive an overall refurbishment? To all me fellow forum members I hope that you all have an awesome weekend, kind regards Theme Park Fanatic

Does anyone know the date when Blackbuckneer's successor will sail into Pirates Cove at Chessington? Additionally can any I tell me how many months, weeks or days it takes to assemble a swinging pirate ship ride. In my personal opinion I doubt that the new swinging pirate ship will be open for the 19th of March the first day of the Chessington 2020 season. kind regards and have and have a brilliant weekend from Theme Park Fanatic!

MarkC what was the cut off age and height of the log flume while it was located in Weymouth?
-
You say that but Toadies Crazy Cars neaver had a cut off age.Due to this I don't think that Jungle Rangers will have any rules prohibiting adults from rideing.
-
I can't remember
-
I personally can't wait to experience the Jungle Rangers,River Rafts and Treetop Hoppers. I hope Chessington theme the indoor section of the log flume will.
-
No I didn't I heard someone else say that this rumour was going round the theme park community!
-
Mattgwise I should fit in the boat as I believe that the person sat at the back in a pink raincoat is a full grown women. I'm a very short man at only 5ft in height so my slim frame should slip into the boat with ease. I'm terms of length and height of the track its the same as Pirates Falls at Legoland Windsor isn't it?
-
I should fit into the Crocodile's on River Rafts. I went on Pirates Falls at Legoland Windsor. I think River Rafts and Pirates Falls are both the same size, and maybe even manufactured by the same company. If you compare pictures \videos of both the flumes Pirates Falls looks taller but I think the wooden rooth on top of the drop creates this optical illusion. Can my fellow forum members please tell me if they think I'm correct?
-
Does anyone believe the rumour that has been going around the theme park community lately. People have been spreading rumours regarding Rumba Rapids being reverted back to Thunder River as it was prior to the 2002 Ribena Rumba Rapids sponsorship that has since expired resulting in the simple name change too Rumba Rapids. Please share your opinions and thoughts about not just this rumour but the general long term future of this Thorpe Park classic!
-
What exotic animals do you think could end up living in the Rainforest land besides the already confirmed Giant Tortoises and Capybara?
-
Am I the only forum member that thinks that Merlin might relocate the disused Ranger County theming from Thorpe Park to Chessington, for use in the new Rainforest land? Chessington Buzz have stated that as well as an new logo Treetop Hoppers will also be reversed to face Safari Rangers (Toadies Crazy Cars). Who else agrees or disagrees with this claim. Do my fellow forum members think that adults will be able to ride the rides within the Rainforest without accompanying a child. I ask this as despite physically being a 20 year old man,in my soul I'm a big kid who must admit he's incredibly eager and exited to explore the Rainforest land as well as ride the attractions that'll reside within. I wouldn't be surprised if Safari Rangers,River Rafts or both use Mist machines,Projection mapping,3Dmodels,animatronics,smell pods and sound effects. I'm hoping for an Elephant that squirts water from its trunk, like the one that used to be located on the route of Dragon Falls when The Land Of The Tiger was Mystic East. With regards to the other theming that I'm hopeing to see animatronics amongst other theming elements that are as realistic as those in the Jungle Cruise at Disneyworld but being realistic I don't think an English theme park will ever build a ride to the standard of the rides at Disneyworld.
