That sound seems to be part of the furniture at Thorpe now; can hear it pretty much park wide. I'd far rather it make that noise just at the top though than all the way up the lift hill, can't imagine it would be too nice to queue next to that noise when you're just about to get into the station It does make me laugh though because that noise seems like it has become a signal for everyone in the Colossus area to look up; it's quite weird.

I wasn't intentionally blaming anyone. If anything, referencing another ride which appears to have to operate in the same way would in fact place blame on Mondial.

I just still find it laughable that the apparent reason why Samurai is no longer run at full speed is because of stress cracks that were found from it's Chessington days; isnt it because it is supposedly primarily a fairground ride and is not designed to be running for number of hours that is has to on a daily basis?There are other park versions. I'm not sure how many but I remember going on one in Canda Wonderland called "Shockwave", I'm pretty sure that looks like it is run at similar speeds. Maybe Mondial need to consider selling a park version which is further reinforced for more extended usage times?

I discussed this with a friend the other day and we realised we never rode Chessington with the bat cars. Did the floorless trains really add that much to it? I know that they changed the ride in general to increase it's lifespan and improve reliability etc. but if Chessington only decided to change the trains purely for a new experience: do you think it paid off?

I think considering it is meant to look lost the ride wears it a lot better than a lot of people give it credit for. But in all fairness, I read it somewhere on this forum that Thorpe appear to have a habit of "theming" their rides on concepts that don't require them to look brand spanking new all the time.

Black would look great, have silver pods with some red detailing to look like blood splats. But maybe as the majority of Dylan is in black, having another mainly black ride next to it would look a little bland?

Um... wow yeah just heard Chris Crocker's song. It's not bad in my opinion but I think we owe our thanks to Vocoders and the producers that smothered this baby with studio trickery; strip it down to his voice and I think it'd reduce a grown man to tears.

It's is quite ironic though; they have had the basics of the floorless fold away flooring and gates working for years on the standard floorless coasters. Yet all of a sudden, it gets cocked up on dive machines? The only difference between the floorless dive machine fold away floor and the standard floorless coaster flooring is the dive machine has an extra panel at the front of the train which folds into the track (as seen in the Griffon video).Anyway, I can understand what you mean about the floorless gimmick potentially ruining Oblivion in some peoples eyes, but I think it would be a great crowd puller or re-puller in someways. Oblivion 2.0 anyone?

Actually now that you mention it, I did see Sheikra through out the day stop on the Lift hill and MCBR. What appears to be the tempremental part is the gates used during loading; because Shekira boards two at a time, the first train is free to ascend the lifthill straight away, while the second train must wait just outside the station. This makes using standard bar gates ( ) impossible due to clearence issues with the train infront, so fold away gates have to be used. I obsevered on several occasions while queueing, that the gates appear to attempt to close or open but then stop responding. But back on point...

The most you could probably do to Oblivion is to convert it to floorless; like what happened to Skeikra. The floorless hardware for the station was installed on a night just before the unveiling and the most extensive work was reworking the trains to floorless but using the same chassis. I would have said it would be a worthwhile modification as when I was on Sheikra (ok yes different layout but same ride), I sat on the outer most seat on the front row and the floorless effect is amazing when being held over the drop. But I do not know how much the modifications would cost and it really depends whether Merlin consider Oblivion worth having some more money pumped into it.

I'd understand what you mean if you compared Oblivion to say Sheikra at Busch Gardens in USA but even then, not everyone can get to those (right now you have to cough up alot of cash and find an airline which isn't at risk of bankruptcy). Oblivion is still the only ride of its kind in the UK and unless we are going to see a Eurofighter first and see holding gears installed just before the drop on Project Dylan. As Chaz said; two different leagues.
