Camera ban - does this apply just on rides or around the whole park?

Hello, I'll be visiting Thorpe Park tomorrow and need to know quickly (in the next few hours) whether the ban on "cameras and phones on rides" which know exists at the majority of theme parks run by Merlin applies just to while on the rides, or does it extend to the whole park (lets say photographing a ride, family photo or attraction from the ground)? It would be good to have an answer as soon as possible...

They are forced to remove them on rush and vortex however I did see the same person get on saw and wasn't made to take his legs off.

On saw the ride you have to be able to walk and also use spiral staircases so if he took his off he would not of been able to ride at all

I have a gopro, could I take it to Thorpe Park and film myself on Colossus if it is straped to my arm?

No, not without special permission. They'd consider it a lose article, the ride staff don't have the time or technical know how to be checking if each set up is safe, so it's a blanket ban.

Yes, cameras on track rides at thorpe are an absolute no, unless you want to desperately risk getting banned. 

I have a GoPro too, with wrist and chest mounts, and find it frustrating that articles more secure then clothes aren't allowed on rides, but those are the rules.
