Reading another group on FB giving the impression rush is being removed. Please say it's not true ??

Amidst a social media backlash as allegedly many attractions closed.....

If it is opened as a Holiday Inn hotel (like the one at chessington) then it probably wont be operated by merlin.The Holiday inn at chessington is not operated by merlin. It is operated by a large national chain (BDL Hotels) who operate many holiday inn hotels under franchise nationwide. The majority of holiday inn hotels are operated under franchise from the owner of the holiday inn brand.So if it does turn out to be a Branded chain hotel it would relieve merlin of the expensive hotel operating costs and leave them to run the park.

so slammer is back open again??Shall we take bets on how long it will last? lol

It will be a new cable, I believe following the TTD incident in which the cable split and shattered during launch, On all intamin rocket coasters the cable has to be replaced after x amount of launches.

I read somewhere that the RCCGB have a trip planned to the park on 21st march, apparently the trip includes a ride take over on stealth. (what does ride take over mean?)Does this mean Thorpe are confident there is a chance it will be operational for the 21st?

So how did they notice the problem?They obv were not aware of it 30 seconds before as they dispatched the train.Did an engineer notice it and contact the operator to stop the ride????

there was lots of activity at Stealth yesterday with the staff all positive about it opening, then they started testing it at around 3ish.Several successful cycles then after about 20 minutes it stopped at the top and rolled back. The staff then announced the testing was not going as planned and the fault was still present and it would not reopen that evening.

yeah I remember that, It opened at about 3pm on the Saturday during Thorpe Blast.What is wrong with it this year ?

I got soaked on rush last year (was either Fright Nights or Thorpe Blast - can't remember which)The operator had a massive bottle of drinking water and as the swing was going past his window he was throwing water at us.Got quite wet! lol but it was great fun and really made that ride stand out as a memory ! lol

Me and some friends also went on Thursday 3rd JulyWas a great day! We were also stuck on the Stealth Train when the restraints would'nt release! was funny we were in the 2nd and 3rd rows.Yep smoke on stealth looked great and liked the water effect on inferno - had never seen it before yesterday.We got there about 10 and left at 6.20.Started quietish then got slowly busier but the que's were no longer tha about 50 mins (except for stealth which at one point was showing 70 mins) but the staff were all great and made the ques and experience great.Weather was nice all day with only a light shower or two then at about 4pm the heavens opened and the thunder and lightning started. By cosmetic I meant something such as a piece of metal trim or plate, part of a metal cover or anything like that, as opposed to a mechanical or sturctural part of the ride.Does anyone have any ideas or educated guesses as to what it was that fell (obv we know it was a piece of metal) LOL

How busy has it been this week?Are the weekdays busy at the mo? am going on friday and was just wondering how long the ques are likely to be with it being a school day etc.Anyone else there on Friday ??

With regards to numbers through the gate in 1990 and now. It may of only risen by 0.8 million but what was the entrance fee in 1990 compared to what it is now? (I doubt it was £32) You can look at it two ways £32 may seem pricey but that is unlimited rides all day, and lets face it on some of the best rides you can find. Compared to what £32 would buy you at a travelling fair, sometimes a top scan (Samurai) can be £4 to £5 each for a short ride and the boosters around £10 so it is good value really. Its just the same as everything in this country its getting more expensive, with the minimum wage rising, fuel, insurance, electricity etc going up I dont think Thorpe Park have increased their gate charge for a couple of years either.Look at Blackpool, They are about the introduce an entrance fee for the first time.In the past they have been the most popular in terms of visitors through the gates but how many of them spend money on the rides? or just give a couple of quid for one or two rides? Once the fee is introduced I think that entrance figures will decrease quite a bit but everyone who is in the park would of payed to be there. The same with Thorpe, a great deal of those 1.8 million ppl have probably payed upto £32 to be there so numbers through the gate is not everything.

Anyone know if Stealth is likely to be back in operation before this Friday ?Cheers

so the part that fell - was it mechanical ie nessessary for the ride to operate or something cosmetic?If it is the latter is it possible that they could open the ride on one swing once it has been investigated to find out why it fell and once any mods or precautions have been put in place?

Have read on a few other sites that S&S have been on site and have performed low level swings of rush to look closer at the part that fell and why it fell.ALso mentions chance of major mods and we will be lucky if Rush is back for Fright Nights.Anyone know if there is likely to be any truth in this rumour.

Does this incident have anything to do with Slammer being shut?Perhaps because Slammer is also made by S & S it has a similar part to the one that fell from Rush and to be on the safe side they are going over Slammer with a fine tooth comb aswell?Out of interest does anyone know what it was that fell?
