  1. what?!? I thought it was the biggest of them. not the only one.

Uh-huh. When Slammer opened, there was only 2 or 3 left in the world, including Slammer. Soon it only left 2 and I think the remaining one was at Six Flags Astroworld. And I think that closed last year to leave only Slammer.
  2. I can understand everyone doesn't like Slammer - but for visitors who like it more than they hate it, I recommend it, as it's now the only sky swatter in the world. You won't get a ride like this anywhere else - shame.

  3. Nope...nope...nope. If you do that, then all the Chavs will piss off to Chessie for good. We want them to piss off from the parks, full stop.

So you *accidentely* managed to click delete on photobucket and then *accidentely* do it again on your My Photos?

    Erm...yes. :P

    What a bummer :P

I know, lol. That proves how long I ain't used Photobucket for.

And whats so un-thrilling about Tidal Wave?

Yeah! I sometimes wonder what's more thrilling, the ride itself or just standing on the bridge! God, how that gets crowded!

I do like the flying coaster on neptune kingdom idea, good one!

Thankyou.Anyway, who cares if a flying coaster is in your face the minute you step outta the Dome? Every other ride is, in some perspective. Thorpe have planned them carefully, you stand outside the Dome, look across at all rides which are visible (Slammer only when it spins), and then choose which one to head for first. Personally, I'm sick of exiting the Dome and seeing Octopus Gardens. One thing I would like to see is Tidal Wave's oil rig fired up again. I heard that during Stealth's construction, machinery went right through some cables or pipes which put the final icing on the cake for it being totally screwed!
  4. To be fair I haven't known Rameses to be shut for lengthy periods of time apart from when it had that major refurb last season.

The worst has got to be 2005, from about April to June it was one-off and then as it approached it's 10th birthday, Huss officials were drawn in to examine the ride. It was saved, but was close to being removed, due to spiralling maintenance costs.
  5. Been away for a while in Qatar!!

Grr! I hate names that start with Qa - it's not right! Like Al Qaeda for example. Bloody people, what makes them think they can drop the u after Q?Anyway rant over. When Slammer was down back in April or May, it was online to S&S Utah, America, doing a software update. Amazing stuff.
  6. Yes, we get you.

"Oh dudes, we got a slight problem with our fish, and for the moment, he won't be flying!"

They've always got a problem with that ride, ever since it was put back in. :P Never happened before. Well, not as often.
  7. Thunder River was good, and I think a lot of people preferred it. When it was rethemed to Ribena Rumba Rapids it wasn't welcomed warmly, especially by an author at Coaster Kingdom who gave it some pretty harsh criticism. Infact, come to think of it, he'll go through the A-Z of the good and bad of any ride he reviews, he really just does go over the top. Pratt. :P Don't listen to his reviews, fellow Hub Mania members, just judge the ride for yourself.Where was I? Oh yes, Rumba! :P Yes, so it wasn't welcomed warmly, but people have come round to it and got to like it. Personally, I hated it at first, but now? Well it's better than Thunder River ever was. OK, so they put new boats in for RRR, and sometimes things don't work for a while (like the water tower shower for example), but yes, it's brilliant, and yes the music is so good I have even made a ringtone for my phone that I might one day get round to using!

  8. Depth Charge and the beach seriously do need to go IMO, and I think X:\ is not far from the end of it's life now, perhaps it only has a few years left. I'd like to the see arena gone too, and an even better Thorpe Mega Store - so here's what I'd do:

    • Demolish Depth Charge, the slides, and the beach.
    • Build a flying coaster with a brand new area name. This coaster could stretch as far out as X:\ No Way Out's entrance, allowing people to walk between where Octopus Gardens and Neptunes Kingdom currently are, with the ride flying over.
    • Demolish X:\ No Way Out, Octopus Gardens, the Thorpe Mega Store, the toilets, and the arena.
    • In the area currently occupied by X:\, create a brand new childrens area. The rides currently in Octopus Gardens could be moved there, or new rides could be installed. Whether area would remain as Octopus Gardens or be given a brand new name would be decided later. This area would extend up the back of Slammer.
    • In the area currently occupied by the arena, build a brand new toilet block.
    • In the area currently occupied by the Thorpe Mega Store and Octopus Gardens, build a new, bigger and better Thorpe Mega Store - mega by name, mega by nature. Bear in mind the new flying coaster plan outlined above could stretch up to where X:\'s entrance is now. However, this could be planned with much care that it wouldn't interrupt the size of the new Thorpe Mega Store.
These plans could be completed in the next 4-5 years. However, I think it could complete Thorpe's thrill rides. Replacing the Banana Boat and Fungle Safari with something each is also something I would like to see - perhaps a crazy golf course or even a new route for the Canada Creek Railway might fit nicely onto Fungle Safari's current area?Who knows - but come on Thorpe, do the right thing. Out with the old, in with the new.
  9. Is weight distribution the reason why the ride will sometimes raise to the top, pause for about half a minute, and then lower back down again, and fail to spin? This happened to me once.

  10. Slammer needs a the sides to be equal to within 2 people up to a total of 15 on each side, then above that the sides must be equal or it breaks the motors. Hence why the loading takes so long, as remote end has to be batched after the ride sequence has finished, as the remote attendant has to be in the remote console watching the ride.

Do you think the ride operator can see how much weight is on each end? And it might tell you if it's enough, not enough or too much weight. Is that what the other cabin is known as, the remote console?
  11. I would like to see something happen to the Rodeo area very soon. It's been in that disgraceful state since the beginning of the 2005 season now. Also, from what I understand about Beanoland, is it's sponsorship contract expires at the end of this year, therefore meaning that the whole area will go - unless the contract is extended, which I think would be a bad move. The Beano might be just over 50 years old now (last week) but there are better things that kids prefer these days.Beanoland is now 8 years old, and in that time, we've seen the Tweenies, Scooby Doo, SpongeBob SquarePants and many more characters at the park, a clear sign that Chessington isn't interested in promoting Beano-related characters anymore, and therefore it is wise decision to get rid of Beanoland.
