  1. I have not been on SAW: The Ride yet but this is bugging me...

Without meaning to sound rude or anything, do you have to keep telling us?! You say it every other post and it is just getting annoying now. Again, not trying to sound rude Keith, its just that you say it so often it is just getting a waste of time posting it...
  2. Not sure if anyone else thought this but has the lighting been changed in the inline twist area? Today I noticed a lot more of the detail: Urinals, a sawn off foot, bathtub ect. Has the lighting changed or was I just not being vigilant? And also, have they changed the SAW audio recently? The shotguns seemed a lot louder today, as did jigsaw on the TV screens.

The lighting has indeed changed. I think they added theming to it last month and changed the lighting so it could be seen or they needed to change the lighting so it could all be seen.As for the SAW audio, I could only assume they've been testing out different volumes, and you've heard a different a louder version...
  3. ^The park stated during the 'Behind The Loops' tour last year that they are working on a 3 year coaster basis. In other words, a coaster is added every 3 years. (This has been happening since 2003, with Inferno, then Stealth, then SAW).

Just putting this up again, to reiterate really. I'm 99% sure the park are planning their next coaster for 2012.As for the hotel opening itself, it is most likely to be built for 2013. This means the park has the chance to expand, use some of the new islands and have a new coaster open and some new flats most likely. This would be logically, as no one year is too expensive for them (or Merlin) and no one year would be to congested. However, it could be for 2012 to help accommodate with the Olympic tourists.
  4. Small rant with other elements mixed in...The admins and mods are busy for what seems like 5 minutes and now the whole forum seems to be crumbling away! I am honestly gob smacked! Can I just say - the admins and mods know what they are doing, do people have to tell them how to do their jobs!? Next, do people have to be rude / super-critical to newbies!? It is just rude, constructive criticism is helpful and remember - you don't really know who you are talking to, it could upset a person if you have had a go at!I now really feel sorry for the admins / mods. I now appreciate what they do so much. Remember, what they do is all in their own free time, so can't people just have a little more respect for other members and most importantly the admins and mods so that this forum doesn't go into self-destruct!?! Please...

  5. Can we actually get people to chat and not just log in for 5 mins. Say hey and go!

It was said at during on of the first chats I think, that there will be designated times introduced soon - the opening now is rather soft. In other words, proper chats with a lot of people will be coming soon...
  6. Plus, you get to the optimum speed quicker on SAW. What I mean is, the drop takes about 1 second; meaning you go 0-18 in 1 second. Whereas Fish would be more like 15 seconds. Do you understand?

Well, as FF is a powered coaster, I'd assume that it would reach the maximum speed (which is around 18.8MPH) in less time than that.As for the drop, it does feel of a similar speed to FF, so I'd assume it would be about 20MPH max.
  7. I think the reason why the indoor drop is much more 'forceful' than the main drop is because: It is usually unexpected. Most people can't prepare for it.It is smaller. It isn't as steep, thus meaning gravity pulls you down easier.

  8. To people that have been on Oblivion at Alton Towers.I did not want to go on Oblivion last time I was at Alton Towers but I really want to go on SAW: The Ride at THORPE PARK.Do you think if people can go on SAW: The Ride, you can cope with Oblivion at Alton Towers? Thanks!

Honestly, if you can cope with SAW, you'll be fine with Oblivion. Oblivion's drop is much smoother and longer, as well as being more fun. Therefore, you'll cope fine.As for the whole screaming thing, I do believe that for quite a lot of people, screaming is a way of releasing the adrenaline that is made when you're on such thrill rides. I know many people who scream on rides after they've been on it many times, for fun, or as a way to release the adrenaline. While I find the drop and the blades rather bland and more for show, some people may find screaming helps (that, or they are just generally scared).
  9. With concerns as to when the second car goes up the lift hill, I do believe that it is when the first car is on (or just passes) the outdoor MCBR. Thus why the cars 'meet' when one is on the brake run and one car is going up the lift hill.

  10. Next time I go I'll ask if I can sit in one of the film seats. Thanks for thw info master iskander

Staff do not know exactly what cars are successfully recording and what are not - what I mean is they know that 5 out of 8 cars are recording, and they probably know what number cars are recording, but they can't find out and hold you up in the queue. It is bad enough staff are being asked all the time if people can sit in the front, they won't want people asking to be put into a car that is recording as well.
  11. I'd say that the second entrance to the SAW island is the perfect chance for a scare zone. The island itself would be good, but there is little space, plus families go there to look at their other family members photos or look in the SAW Store. Thus, the second entrance would be perfect. A sign stating how this isn't for the faint hearted, etc. and should mainly be undertaken by people who are wanted to ride SAW, etc. would be perfect!

  12. Have Thorpe Park stopped selling the SAW syringe pens? It's just that on Tuesday I couldn't find any in the SAW Store, The Thorpe Mega Store, or anywhere else for that matter. I know that many schools across the country have banned the pens, so I didn't know if Thorpe Park had stopped selling them.

Syringes pens were back in stock as of today. ;)
  13. For those who want confirmation about ride areas being 'abandoned':

SAW – The Ride is referred to as being in Canada Creek in order for us to easily reference whereabouts in the Park it is. However, the ride itself is situated on an island and will exist as its own entity. The IP (Intellectual Property) has too strong a brand identity and recognition for us to either try and ‘shoe-horn’ it into another area or vice versa. The zones in essence haven’t been removed, only we changed the style and classification of the rides on the map to highlight their thrilling nature to fit in with THORPE PARK’s brand of the UK’s most thrilling theme park.

(From questions to TP)Also, on last year's 'Behind the Loops' tour, it was said by TP themselves that, like Fever said, the park is becoming a 'Thrill Island' or an 'Experience Park'.
  14. Finish it of later :( 2012)2013)2014)2015)2016)2017)I'll post mine later

You always say that, but then you get carried away into a whole new idea. :( Not that I mind of course.Anyway, mine:2010) Ranger County is unfortunately out of place - so is re themed into a jungle land. As the park isn't concerned with themed areas much, it just means that the rides receive a small spruce up as well as new names as well as logos. The Fungle Safari is replaced by a ride like Bouncing Berries at Chessie (What are those types of rides called?) and is themed to a tree (well trees). The same queue line is kept - maybe extended - and, like Fungle, the ride is closed for FN when The Asylum is in use. The rest of the area is used for greenery, maybe just a quiet bit of grassland. A repaint of Samurai.2011) Over the closed season, Colossus was repainted and had the effects sorted out and a little bit more theming added. The entire entrance area is redone and the car has little extras (like ride models) scattered round to make the area look a bit nicer. A new coaster is announced for 2012.2012) A new woodie opens on the Treasure Island and infill island. The ride is themed as a dilapidated roller coaster that could break down any minute. The queue line shows timber which is broken parts of tracks. A bit like Oblivion, with the reassurance that the ride is safe, but with just announcements as opposed to being on TV screens. You are told the ride is 'safe as steel' and 'can't collapse'. However, ''newspaper reports'' throughout the queue line say otherwise - that 'wooden structures can't be built on islands' (you are repeatedly told you are on an island) as well as other reports about how 'wooden roller coasters have been deemed unsafe', etc. The ride station is on a similar style Colossus (in other words, a small building). The ride itself would have on board audio (yes, this is possible). The 100ft lift hill has the strange man who then says how the ride is still 'perfectly safe' and then a noise is heard which basically sounds like part of the structure underneath the train is collapsing. He then says how he knew the ride was 'a wooden junk yard' followed by a manic laugh and then the train goes off round the track. Typical track for a woodie, weaving throughout the structure, etc. and from time to time the manic laugh is heard. The ride ends with the train going through part of the ride and the man saying 'see, safe as steel' and the train then enters the station. (Perhaps even room for an on load and offload station). Of course, the main appeal for the ride itself would be 'Safe as Steel' - in other words, that's the slogan.
  15. Just wondering before my visit to Thorpe tomorrow, Is Saw still running without the trims on the MCBR?I haven't ridden it without them on and I've heard it's much better without them on :(

To the best of my knowledge, SAW is still running without the MCBR trims. Well, it seemed like that on Tuesday - the dive loop was insane!
  16. Nemesis Inferno has the longest pre lift section of any Inverted B&M roller coaster, and it was also the first Inverted B&M Roller coaster to feature interlocking corkscrews on a single track lol.

I was more focusing on ideas that are more appealing to the public as opposed to fans, but yes, that is true.
  17. I was just checking out some rides at Flamingo Land on youtube and I came across this new roller coaster being built there,

, its gonna have a steeper drop than SAW, will it take away SAW's record? :).
SAW will NOT lose its record for the steepest free-fall drop in the world. However, SAW will not (and actually is not) the steepest drop in the world. Currently, another S&S El Loco (like Flamingo Land's Mumbo Jumbo) in America called Steel Hawg has a 111 degree drop (do note, it is advertised as a 120 degree drop. It was changed but the advertisers didn't have enough time to change the adverts, etc.). When Mumbo Jumbo opens, with a 112 degree drop, it will be the steepest drop in the world. What makes SAW the steepest free-fall drop is the fact it is controlled by a brake on the drop, unlike El Locos. This means that El Loco drops are considered as controlled drops, and not free-fall drops. Basically, a load of Mumbo Jumbo (hence the name). And before anyone says it, the Screaming Squirrels LOOK HERE that is not considered as a drop as far as I'm aware. The saxophone elements on the ride are all brake runs that go round a drop, which thus classes them as a brake run, and not a drop.
