  1. I don't think a holding brake would be that feasible on SAW. In the end, for it to be effective, it would have to hold at the point just before the tilt, which would then lose the intensity of the drop. In the end, I would have wanted a holding brake, the how feasible it is a different question...

  2. Thanks for that. The Crazy Carnival idea is great! Judging by the success of SAW as well, another dark and scary themed attraction(s) would suit the park perfectly. Thorpe Park NEEDS to put you in charge of their future development plans or something...

  3. Oh I didn't think anybody was intereste dor read them so I was going to give up but I have a few new ideas if your interested?

Yes please. Your ideas are so well thought out it is very easy to imagine it and see them at the park. I always read them a good couple of times - they are brilliant! When your ready. :P
  4. In the end, SRQ worked well. Yes, it needed to be stricter sometimes, but overall, it did work well. I will admit that twice there was someone else with me and we did it to skip the queues - but that was because we didn't mind going on by ourselves and we felt it was pointless queuing so we could sit together when we could just fill in an empty seat. In other words, I used as it should have been used - I didn't abuse it. In the end, stopping SRQ will probably lead to more Fastrack sales, thus making the queue longer than SRQ would have done. Perhaps Thorpe should be slightly less penny pinching?

  5. Although theme parks do look into the future, I doubt that look into it that deeply. They may think like this: 2010: We know we want a new flat. We have this space here, and this is a good idea, etc. 2011: Perhaps now is the time not to add a new ride and redo the entrance. 2012: New coaster. 2013: Hotel. 2014: New flat. 2015: New coaster. 2016: Replace X. 2017: etc. etc.The park don't know for definite what will happen, only some sort of rough plan. Anyway, how likely is it that Thorpe will want to build another 200ft (or higher) roller coaster? Stealth is the park's iconic coaster - it stands out (literally) above the rest - why add another to make it look like the ordinary?

  6. Unfortunately, SAW will no longer have SRQ on weekends and (as I interpreted it) on any peak / busy day.Went to the park today, no SRQ. Enquired about it. I was told that many people were using the SRQ to get on SAW multiple times with a minimal queue - it was like a free Fastrack. Now that Fastrack is in operation, the park have decided to stop using SRQ on weekends and busy days (peak days in other words). This may fall onto off peak days - is there a point when the queue isn't going to be too long?Honestly, I'm absolutely against this - very bad move. In the space of 5 minutes, I saw at least 8 empty spaces! Please Thorpe, make the right decision and bring it back - now!

  7. I was under the impression that Thorpe park weren't allowed to build their next roller coaster (or any ride) above the height ceiling until after 2016 - not that they were planning to build another one in 2016. This is what I heard was the condition with Stealth - it could be built if it was painted a colour that blends in with the sky (white) and that they couldn't propose to build another coaster until after 2016. Anyway, back on topic, anyone want to share their Thorpe Park? Has ste193 got any more in depth, interesting ideas yet? :)

  8. I don't think it does honestly. The ride, I do believe, is unlike most drop towers, as it pushes you down as opposed to dropping you - thus making it very forceful. While making it bigger would prolong the ride, it would take away the forcefulness - something which should not happen...

  9. Oh dear, rushing posts is not a good idea... What I meant was...2010: Colossus repaint, no new rides. Entrance re-done.2011: New woodie on Treasure Island annouced. New flat on Fungle spot.2012: New woodie, 2 new flats plus a FN maze.2013: Arena taken out for a new flat or two if Fungle area has not had a flat added.Sorry about that...

  10. But..they probably are going to. That's what Thorpe do, and it's why all of Thorpe's rides have monumentous queuelines each and every day. They have an unhealthy obsession with overselling fastrack.

I hope that have soon changes into a 'had' after what has previously happened - imagine if SAW was open for last year's FN when Fastrack was like water...
  11. For the sake of it, I'm highlighting in bold anything that was wrong in your post there (this is intended as a joke that has probably gone too far... :))

Okay, if you're Pernickety about it:"I do agree there is some mistakes there"Should be:"I do agree, there are some mistakes there"Sorry...

Anyway, quick over view of my ideas:2010: Colossus repaint, no new rides. Entrance re-done.2011: New woodie on Treasure Island. New flat on Fungle spot.2012: New woodie, 2 new flats plus a FN maze.2013: Arena taken out for a new flat or two.
  12. I do agree there is some mistakes there - but nothing too drastic. What I'd suggest is installing Firefox or Google Chrome. This then means whenever you type in posts, it automatically comes up with words you mis-spell (like Microsoft Word). Also, loving your in-depth ideas. :)

  13. Have you seen how bad the DVDs are? They are sped up by about 10x, and last about 50 secs as it only films the outside bit, it does have an intro thats a mixture of the videos.

They aren't meant to be sped up by about 10x (this is obvious as the sound is out of sync). This is a problem that the park and Picsolve are having - a bit like adjustment issues. They do show at normal time, but some DVDs do have this problem. I'd suggest that anyone inquires about the issue before buying the DVD, thus if the problem does occur, they will know what happens.
  14. I understand where you are coming from, but Thorpe seem to always have that 'first' or 'best' element in their rides.X No Way Out - FIRST blackwards coasterColossus - FIRST 10 looping coasterStealth - HIGHEST launch coaster in Europe (also, one with the fastest acceleration?)SAW - FIRST horror-film themed coaster and STEEPEST free-fall drop in the world.Notice the trend? Although not everything is like this at Thorpe, I can very easily see the 2012 coaster to have some sort of 'first' or 'x-est' to them (if you get what I mean).

  15. That's fair enough if it doesn't really suit Thorpe in your opinion, but it's more of what the customer wants, and what Thorpe think would fit in well. We're all looking to try new types of rides. With a sky swatter, an air-powered swing, a 205ft high launch coaster, a 100ft drop tower, the world's first 10 looping coaster Europe's wettest water ride, these aren't exactly your everyday rides at a theme park. Thorpe have a lot of "some things different", and to put a flyer in would not only top it off, but I am certain it would make the place more popular.

That's a valid point yes. However, with better technology nowadays, the public are more accustomed to seeing steel coasters, so no matter what type it is, the public would see at as something which is more like the ordinary. A woodie, however, would be something different and something which is less seen, nowadays - by which I mean less are being built, especially in the UK! It is something majorly different!
  16. It wasn't evacuated. And whats TPNews?

Ah, sorry about that. I heard they were evacuated. As for TPNews, I got a bit bored so I tried making my post sound like a News Report. TPNews (Standing for Thorpe Park News) was the name. It was meant for a random, pointless joke though which was why I put it in brackets along with the smilies. If anyone wants me to continue TPNews, just say. :) (Which is intended as a joke unless there's huge popular demand...)
  17. Anyone noticed that with some of the Ride DVD's sold by Picsolve, they are speeded up by about 10xHeres a good example:

And, unless I'm mistaken, the sound is perfectly fine? Oh dear...In other news, SAW broke down to at about half past 5. An evacuation had to occur on all cars, one which was on the lift hill. Furthermore, it is rumoured to be troubles with the break run, as opposed to the outdoor MCBR which some people may fear.(That is it from TPNews. I've been your host. Goodnight :o:))
  18. Yes, they'd be good options. However, another B&M ride would surely mean less theming (I know we had Inferno, but still, it would mean less theming?), which I think has proved a definite hit with SAW!I'd be happy with a woodie for 2012 (with some good theming of course), then we can bring in another B&M for 2015/6. :)

  19. But then again, it can be really tempting - especially for chavs - to bend the rules and go underneath the small chain to get into the main queue will no one is looking, or just jump some of the fences. In the end, only chavs can be blamed though, because they are rather idiotic.Oh yes, and great news about how SAW is on 8 cars and the MCBR is as forceful as it was on opening day. :)(Oh, and Ricky, where are the car numbers of the SAW cars - I can never find them?)
