  1. Look, everyone, just lay off Theme Park bloke. He has made a mistake and yes, he does sometimes do stupid posts. Just get over it. Perhaps being more polite and giving more hints on what to do to avoid stupid posts rather than just having a go at him all the time is a better thing...Anyway, I don't want a Tomb Blaster style ride at Thorpe. It doesn't fit in with the park's target audience and the space required for it could be put to much better use. I just really want a decent dark ride for the park. (In some ways, I find it a shame that we've got SAW now. I would have much prefered a bigger pyramid for X and just have a SAW themed ride totally indoors (like a long version of th indoor section). Anyway, I guess I shouldn't moan about SAW too much...)

  2. The body still shoots very little water. What happened today at the bottom of the lift hill was there was the "Game Over" bit, then another countdown from 5 to 0, then you go up.Another spoilt effect was the timer as you pass Billy only saying 0, not 00:00:00:00.

  3. I don't want CC to be developed much further. The park have said themselves have said they aren't focusing on themed areas that much, so developing the area would surely mean there would hardly be any 'Canadian' feel to it. Okay, the park might want to focus of theming more, but not area theming. Anything added to CC would more be a bad thing to a good thing, unless the park make it have a Canada type feeling or change the theme all together (which I don't want to happen). I could see the Fungle spot being taken over be CC, but I'd much rather that be taken over by a new land all together.

  4. I don't think it is - there are worse. And this "world's scariest rollercoaster" business that Thorpe are advertising Saw is so over-hyped.

If you seriously thought SAW was going to be the world's scariest coaster, then you must have brain damage...
  5. And as I have said before SPINNERS DON'T WORKSPinball is next to Oblivion, SPinball always has the longer queueTarantula is next to Abismo, Tarantula always has the longest queueWinjas is next to the whole of Phantasialand, Winjas always have the longest queue.IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY RIDES YOU PUT NEXT TO SPINNERS, THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE LONGEST QUEUES BECAUSE OF THEIR LOW THROUGHPUT PER HOUR.

What if we put it next to SAW? :P :P
  6. Yeah when my mates went a few weeks ago there werent any, so I wonder if it was just for opening day and weekend?

Actors will be in the queue line at their best (thorughout the entire queue in and outside) at summer and FN. There may also be some sort of acting presence inside during Easter and Bank Holidays.

Did anybody notice how much Saw was squeaking yesterday??

Honestly, I find the squeaking adds to the ride. When going to the ride area, seeing the spinning blades and hearing the car squeak as it goes down just scares people to death.
  7. For the next coaster you could, if you're conserative, rule out a Dive (water table), Hyper/Giga/etc. (height), wooden (location), El Loco (already got a steep drop coaster), Wingwalker (Speed coaster already there) and rides with low capacities...What's left? Obviously: Flyer, Floorless, Water, Bobsled, Mine Train, etc. Then, there's less obvious: Eagle coaster, whatever AT's new coaster is (as it's a world's first in coaster design), X-Car / 4D, tilt coaster, Dueling coaster, etc.Honestly, I'd want something different, something the world doesn't have much of and a different manufacurer to most of TP's ride (they've only used the same manufacturer once - Colossus and Stealth). Therefore, manufacturer-wise, S&S, Mack (FF doesn't really count for me), Premier or something very different.... Therefore, coaster types I'd like for the next coaster... Eagle, AT style coaster, tilt or Water. :P

  8. ^Actors will only be there on peak days to keep the costs down, and more imprtnatly, so it doesn't get old.(There's two actors, one strapped in the cruifix and another masked person, torturing them and rattling a stick angainst the queue line. The masked person drags the 'dead' body underneath the stairs so they can switch costume or go to breaks). The park were only planning to have the actors during summer and FN (probably Easter also), but I think that SAW is more popular than they expected, so they've probably got actors in on some Saturdays as well(?)

  9. As to the farm costs, just think about it.All the food, drink, bedding, etc. all the animals need will cost. Hiring staff to look after them all year round, clean them up, interact with guests, etc. costs a lot. Running costs to the farm is a lot of money after a while, which is where lack of guests comes into play, then with future plans I guess (the farm would have effectively been closed thorughout last year, no train no boat). The cost of the farm was a lot...

  10. This head banging that everyone's experiencing is probably because the ride has a 100 degree drop! I can't compare to other Eurofighters as I've never been on any, but I've heard they're smooth, but the 100 degree drop probably results to the head banging due to the way is leaves.I think if Thorpe had planned it to be SAW from the beginning (Nov 2007), then the ride layout would be different, and perhaps even the ride. What I mean is that there might have been a bigger indoor section, more chances to miss theming, etc. Also, in an ideal world for me, it would have been a Diving Machine. Imagine being dangled at the top of that drop seeing the headchopper effect for a few seconds... Of course, I guess that comes down to money.

  11. along with a dodgy billy voiceover :)

The fact it is a didgy Billy impression is noticable thorugh the entire queue; Tobin Bell's voice is really needed to make the ride better.

A little disappointed with yesterdays ride, I think my expectations were too high. When Saw finally opened, we decided to join the 90min queue since they'd closed Fastrack, said it was "too unreliable".. even though it was running without problems after it'd opened (til close I think?). The queue line did not add to my experience, neither did the annoying bunch of girls screaming for no reason at all inside the building. The ride was fun, but the only amazing part was the first drop, the rest just seemed average. Sorry to be a critical cow, maybe I was just having a bad day :P

Firstly, I think every had made high expectations. I'm preety sure most people had that little voice in the back of their heads saying 'That's not as good as I thought it would / could have been'.As to the queue line experience, something to note. I'm preety sure none of the actors were in the queue line, probably only a member of staff at the top of the first flight of stairs(?) The queue line works best when you get the gunshots near the entrance of the station, hear the full dialouge and there's actors inside and maybe out. The gunshot basically comes down to luck. As for actors, they will only appear in the queue line during summer and FN (and maybe one or two during Easter). Therefore, the queue line probably didn't add to the experience because of no actors and not hearing the full tele dialouge due to the screaming girls. The queue line does add to the experience, but only when you are there at the right time I guess...
  12. Gerstlauer have many Eurofighters. I don't think this is the first time weather problems might have interrupted one of them :D. And there is only one MCBR, and a lot of other Eurofighters have MCBR's as well, so it really isn't a new thing for them. And Thorpe are the ones who should be maintaining the effects, not Gerstlauer.

I thought there were 3 of them WARNING, small spoiler. The outside one, the start of the ride(?) and then when the gunshots and crossbows are fired.

Ah ok, so the day I went, I can blame Mondial, Gerstlauer, Vekoma, Mack, Intamin (X3), S&S and whoever the hell built the Canada creek Railway. That's a lot of manufacturer hate right there. :D

CCR was manufactured by a company called Severn Lamb I think...I must say the tele advert is very good (the Merlin Pass thing - on all Merlin ads - is VERY annoyng mght I just add), the radio advert is okay. I'm starting to really dislike the Jigsaw voice used; sounds like a cheap knock-off.
  13. Something to note... the farm's buildings are lsited buildings, therefore any rides would have to orientate around them. Honestly, the best thing that could go there is a Sealife in my opinion, but I just can't see that happening...

  14. In the eyes of the public yes, all these break downs are unacceptable. However, when you have fanboys - the ones who actaully know in more detail what the park is like, etc. - start to have a go at Thorpe, turn their backs on them if you will, then that's what I'm failing to understand. There's being critical and there's just being unreasonable...

  15. Just like to point out on SAW's behalf it is not only a new ride which is bounding to have adjustment issues, it is also a learning curve for Gerstlauer, with the amount of MCBR, the effects, weather problems, etc. Therefore, SAW has to be let of.Slammer, a complicated ride made by a manufacturer whose rides aren't as reliable as they could be. Yes, I suppose it is easily fixable with right training, etc. but the engineering team are probably more concerned about Stealth. Concerning Stealth, which I've heard opened today, there was very strong winds about. Strong winds, plus the extra wind chill and that from the lake means there's more likely to be rollbacks. Furthermore, Inferno's breakdown, a ride is allowed to break down every now and then, am I right? Rush, a prototype, never that much luck anywhere with a prototype. FF and X, usually reliable, but the park is probably just trying to focus on the bigger rides which are in more demand. Not having a go at anyone here, but I'm shocked at the amount of people that are having a go at Thorpe and being not necessarily rude, but 'out-of-order' if you so. Thorpe are trying their best; they hate braekdowns as much as we do. Yes, their reliability can be unacceptable and that is something that Thorpe have admitted to and are putting as one of their main priorities. I'm saying Thorpe are perfect, I'm not saying they don't deserve to have customers being angry at them, I'm just looking at this from an in the middle view. Just remember how hard the park are actually working and remember how much the park has actaully given to you throughout the years of their hard work.

  16. The inline twist could be so much more effective. I honestly just thought that it was a man lying on the floor, no theming around or anthing, it needs to be clearer. I think a saw would have been good there and then the sounds of a saw to show what it is would be much better. The bleeding body might have been better in the indoor queue line, maybe some sort motion dector?

  17. Why does everyone feel the need to extend SAW's island with more rides?Samurai could do with fitting in with CC, but I don't want it to go with SAW. As for adding a new ride all together, I don't see the point, the brand is too strong for flat ride and wouldn't be that good. The only other thing that could work is a dark ride themed to SAW, but I doubt Lionsgate would want to have another ride themed to SAW a Thorpe...

  18. I don't know exactly, but Thorpe will probably have a 5 year deal and may extend it if the ride is proving popular and needs to have effects changed(?)One thing to mention; the ride seems to be very friendly if the sponsorship dis run out. What I mean is that it isn't like tons and tons of things are going to have to be taken away, probably only 2 or 3 bits.
