  1. Can they not even spend a bit of money on creating a facade to surround the tent's sides? Like with Charlie at AT? Surely that can't cost THAT much!? Not even a heavily themed entrance into the maze. It is really quite disappointing that they continue doing this...the Curse's slightly themed doors surrounded by the tent are laughable. This...from the nation's thrill capital. A hugely disappointing maze in a big white tent. No sense of mystery or tension whatsoever.
  2. Just curious...I have two free tickets from The Sun's promotion for Thursday 13th October [not a FN day], but would I still be able to buy Bounce-back tickets for the next day [which is FN] having not paid for a full ticket on the first day?Really appreciate any help, thanks
  3. In my opinion the font, red flare and fuzzy presentation of the lettering in Thorpe's video is way too similar to the Gears Of War logo/brand to be ignored. Whilst the idea of this association with a video game doesn't exactly excite me personally, I can totally see why it might well happen. It seems to fit the theme of the coaster well and Gears of War does suit Thorpe's target audience [I.e young people]. At least if this did happen to be true, the theme of the ride would still make generic sense even after the contract with Gears' ends (I.e not as with SAW, where most of the theming would look out of place without the franchise's context). Only thing confusing me is that the whole LC12 publicity so far leans slightly more towards an 'end of the world'/nuclear theme than Gears of War.
  4. Backwards, 'WAR' becomes 'RAW.' Just as unimaginative as 'war' as a name imo but just saying could be a tiny tiny possibility
  5. Chessington does seem to get these strangely quiet weekend days every now and then..sadly though I doubt Thorpe will have been/ will be anything like Chessington today/tomorrow...it always seems to be packed at weekends throughout the summer. But hey- you could get lucky
  6. Anybody who can...get down there tomorrow! This week is a complete gem because it's just before schools begin their visits and lots of students/teens have exams...and for whatever other reason...it was brill today- the park felt empty most of the day!THE RESULTING QUEUE TIMES...NI-waited 20 minutes maximumColossus-30 minutes maximumSAW-25-30 minutes maximumSamurai-25 minutes fairly consistentlyVortex, Slammer, Rush- maximum 15 minutes eachRumba, Quantum, Enterprise, Tidal- consistently 0 minutes Stealth- 35 minutes all dayStorm Surge- 45 minutes consistentlyHope this is helpful to somebody
  7. I know it's not going to be a typically packed day for the park and I don't often visit off-peak, so would taxi's and/or the shuttle bus be running tomorrow morning around 9:00?Thanks for any help
  8. Just wondered, are there any vouchers about at the moment that are valid at Chessington until the end of season? I'm not having much luck on the web and I'm going next week and I'm kind of skint :') Thanks..
  9. Yesterday Inferno was by far the best ride for effects, and the queue was moving amazingly fast! Well done to whoever the operator was, hats off.The smoke beneath the loop was thick and plentiful although stopped after around 9pm. The bubbles in the water were also working all day which was nice to see :)The mist pouring from the volcano in the queue line was excellent, there was so much of it! There was a nice body coming from the soil in the cattle-pen, and a skeleton in the station. Also the views from the stairs outside were great at night. Dispatches in the station were very fast and yeah the lights going from red to blue in the station at each dispatch was a great touch. The tunnel was pitch black on entry which was a nice change, and absolutely full of thick mist which got me really wet! Towards the end of the tunnel were the blue lights and instead of mist there was thick thick fog. Upon exit the smoke flying out of the tunnel looked amazing. Overall my favourite ride of the night by far
  10. Can't get rid of Rattlesnake! could do with some tinkering though to help the discomfort in parts.I would get a couple of flats in the grassy area behind Vampire, repaints on Vampire and Black Buccaneer.Rock theming on Runaway train re-sprayed. Dragon falls tidied up. Bubbleworks completely re-done; Charlie -esque (AT.)Hocus Pocus Hall brought up to date, and Safari Skyway completely re-done.And I'd say the signage is pretty good as it is?
  11. Haha yeah if you have a good look through that website, there are a good few props recognisable from the halloween events at TP, Chessington & Alton; although a fair bit of it is probably created especially for the events by Merlin Studios. This got me thinking aswell, last year at FN quite a few props on Loggers Leap I had recognised from high street shops!! And quite a few of the props used in Colossus' station were from Woolworths!

My ideas ...2010: Complete rennovation of Neptunes Kingdom.-Removal of Depth Charge and Neptunes Beach. This area is relatively small to clear, and I would then introduce a grassed area of a similar size, with much more vegetation, and Depth Charge itself replaced with a smaller complex of slides purely for younger children. -Elsewhere phase 1 of 2011 redevelopment; including a repaint of Colossus and mass improvement on Rumba. This would include introduction of more waves, a painted channel, better dark section and improved effects.2011:Lost City Becomes An Actual Lost City -X:\NWO Closed To Public.-Colossus station left as it is, to be changed in 2012. New trains introduced with better restraints, much like SAW's, but Intamin obviously, as they are fast locking and more comfortable.-Resurfacing occuring, with themed walls and more vegetation and stand-alone theming introduced. Area overall more 'jungle' like.-Vortex Replaced with larger Gyro swing, much like Maelstrom at Drayton Manor. This has a higher capacity, and a better thrill, also all riders get a good ride every time due to riding facing outwards, unlike Vortex. Footers can be placed outside the actual boarding platform, so it could potentially be 'over the lake.' Original Vortex relocated to AT under a new name. -Octopus Gardens removed.2012: -X:\NWO could either: *Building gets new themed exterior, including cladding of all exterior walls and roof to make it actually look like a pyramid. Entrance plaza redesigned, and coaster given new trains and special effects; making it more of a dark ride than just a rubbish coaster.*Alternatively, building could be demolished completely, and the coaster scrapped. An echo of the ride could be introduced in years to come. I would also take the opportunity to demolish the arena. Colossus' station would be extended into the space where X' was, a structure incorporating a new, bigger shop and floor space for Hellgate (or future equivalent). Secondly I would introduce a new dark ride where the arena was, a ride one-up on Valhalla, themed around a shipwreck, and sponsored to gain maximum funding for amazing theming and some kind of 'world first.'With Octopus gardens gone, there would be plenty of space for a large combined entrance plaza for Colossus and this dark ride. Amazing theming and lots of greenery, this large open area at the heart of the park would be a breath of fresh air.

The actual platform would be little different to the size of Vortex,' but the frame itself would be taller, and footers/foundations for the frame can always be put underwater (Think Colossus' inline twists' .

To replace it with a similar ride, only much bigger and a better actual ride.It could keep the same name

It isn't really levelling up with the 'Thrill' aspect of TP, and I think Ramesis Revenge is much more of a thril than Vortex, therefore Vortex is a happy medium between something like Ramesis Revenge and a ride like Black Buccaneer, not technically, obviously but thrill wise. Why do you not agree?

Realistically I think TP could get away with a decent new flat and a couple of rethemes for the 2010 season, then again in 2011, before the next coaster in 2012.Next year I would send Vortex to CWoA to get a retheme, as it would fit in well there and would be a welcome investment. I'd replace this with a big gyro-swing in the same place, as it is a better ride and has better throughput. I would also take this as a chance to re-energise Lost City, including a repaint of Colossus, additional paths and landscaping, and a repaint/redecoration of the dome. I would also like to see the space where Zodiac and Quantum is replaced with two identicle launch towers, and the removal of Detonator. Two launch towers have faster throughput than drop towers due to shorter ride time, and the location near the entrance could help eat up Colossus' queues

I like the idea of an extention on Loggers Leap, but a backwards dive coaster? Doesn't that defeat the point of it?Surely it would need to exceed the height ceiling to get a decent drop, as the ground is unsuitable for deep excavation

    Fastrack

Themeparkmad I think what Daniel meant is that he would rather buy an annual pass than ultimate fastrack, and come back when the park's quieter.
  19. To clarify, a taxi from Staines station to TP is £8!? That sounds good. Are the taxi's usually there on weekdays? And do they do returns??

    Fastrack

Thanks, does the 'anywhere but front' thing apply to SAW, there are only 2 rows per car?

    Fastrack

Quick question: Is SAW available for individual fastrack? And what are the prices for individual fastracks this season? Thanks:)
  22. I didn't say it did, or that it was I said I would have thought that Lionsgate would be keen to get Tobin to do the audio simply because the ride is representive of their brand.
