  1. Awkward, I didn't mean longer are better! Some short coasters are brilliant whilst longer coasters can sometimes get boring towards the end. For me it's the experience it delivers in the length rather than the length in the experience.
  2. Possibly to give other wing riders a run for their money, however it does come down to several aspects. Other wing riders may be short but thrilling nonetheless with an immense indulge in theming. So potentially as a coaster it could beat other wing riders but experience wise it may lack.
  3. The drop is close to being topped off, with just the twist to be put into place! Which can be seen in one of my other posts on this page on the time lapse image.
  4. Forgive me if I'm wrong doesn't The Swarm have a Zero G roll? The Second inversion, no? The Swarms dive drop is more horizontal than X-Flights making it slightly more exhilarating. The swarm has 3/4's of a helix after the trim to be fair. In my opinion They are nothing alike.
  5. Well as we most of us probably know Gatekeeper has been topped off now! I'm in love with these two images! Also The bottom of the drop has been started, looking very similar to Swarms construction! There's a a very large selection of photos starting from the beginning of the construction including the demolition of the entrance gate which can be found here: http://www.wkyc.com/...?storyid=266309 Subtle shun towards towers! Cedar Point are further into their construction than SW7 and is due to open 2 months after in May 2013!

I didn't mean have ridden it, I meant know what inside the fact it's the worlds first backwards roller coaster in the dark..
  7. Isn't the train trimmed heavily as it ascends the first drop/peaking the air time hill?

X:\ No Way Out has been in operation since 1996, I'm pretty sure that a good 95% (maybe more) of the guests know what they are about to endure.
  9. In the long run I'm sure it would work out more expensive, the ropes on the lift would need to be changed regularly to avoid snapping which isn't cheap as opposed to a standard lift chain which can last years. Take stealth for example every 80,000 launches they like to replace the ropes instead of the recommended 100,000 which is once a year, so it's around 6/7 replacements since 2006. Colossus on te other hand has had chain replaced once? Maybe twice in 10 years. (I don't really know) The manucacture cost may be lower but the maintenance is probably higher in the long run
  10. Lift is going to look strange! What intrigues me is they have banished the white strips along the length of the track! Intamin are continuing the use of box supports, which can be seen here: http://www.cwfans.it...o/set.php?id=31 EDIT you can see the Drop Tower half way down the page of those images
  11. I can imagine the clone being a lot better than Colossus (even thought they would be the same!?)
  12. Brake Run is up! Timelapse, Looking like the view from the car park will be growing ever nicer! More construction of the lift And here's a cute timelapse

    The Smiler

Whilst very briefly going off topic, I worked on Colossus on a very regular basis (2-4 times per week) and Colossus was on 2 trains nearly every day of this season except for early mornings. This was the case until late September when an issue arose. The issue is currently being rectified at Intamin in Switzerland. So actually going on topic, It does worry me ever so slightly, But none the less I'm sure AT will pull through. I do look forward to riding this next year!

    The Smiler

It does worry me that I can't even see a footer in sight! This could *potentially* go down in history for one of the biggest cock-up's. I want to ride this in March, please hurry up and make it look as though it might be ready on time!

  17. Another View of the Train for Ocean Kingdom's 'Flying Over The Rainforest' Winged coaster Construction coming along quite quickly now!
  18. Due to a situation out of Thorpe Park's control an issue arose on Colossus's second train which could only be resolved by the manufacturer. This happened in late September I think, can't really remember. The fastrack thing with hosts imposing strict policy's with time slots, there's only so much hosts can do but at the end of the day they have paid for it and therefor its not easy refusing people. Hopefully as previously said times will catch up and in future seasons two trains will be operational at all times on coasters!
  19. I went To towers in July time and they told us Rita was 45-60 minutes to sell us fastrack do we did and it turned out to be 5 minutes. Thorpe arnt the only guilty ones!
  20. Seems these LED's on trains are going to start kicking off! Although I'm sure Ocean Kingdom can actually have all of them working...
  21. To me, the park ONLY fail to deliver when the ride is not open, if its on one train they are still delivering a ride experience. Staff going back to Uni has nothing to do with training or rides being on reduced capacity. Training is very thorough with COSWP (code of safe working practice) being the biggest aspect of of training. The trainee is taken from a visual and audible walk-through of everyday operation. once completing this part of training they must complete a certain amount of 'shadowing' to get the feel of the ride and once this is done (usually a minimum of one hour) they must do their reading which is going through the COSWP again and reading all the procedures in depth. Once completing this they must then go through a risk assessment. I can assure you the training is very thorough and is completed to the highest standards. If there is a technical fault with a ride/train then the engineers will go about their routine and complete the task quickly and efficiently Engineering department start early in the morning I believe its 6:15 (can't quite remember, maybe earlier than that) and start completing a very long list of checks before they allow any operation of the ride whatsoever. Checks can even start the night before with the late shift engineering team who are there until 11:15pm. There have been many occasions where engineering have worked late into the night sometimes until the early shift engineers start to get rides up and running. I remember back in 2009 when SAW - The Ride first opened the engineers where there with Gerstlauer to route and fix the problems it had on opening day. A lot of thought and preparation goes into a theme park and countless amount of work has to be done on a daily basis to get rides up and running especially when they can be as complicated as Stealth.
  22. Not that I'm saying it's a regular occurrence, as frankly I wouldn't know but the last thing TP want is to run rides on lower capacity on their peak times to the limited maintenance. They probably take the non-peak days to do that extra maintenance to ensure they don't run the risk of having issues on busier days. To be honest I think it's smart. Yes they could have 3 trains so if one breaks they can put the other on or use parts from that train but they don't have the space to accommodate the storage! Even throughout closed season when they could strip both or multiple trains they can't due to limited space, they have to do one at a time which takes double the time. With the exception of Colossus and stealth they can't do both trains simultaneously. Saw can do what, 3 or 4 cars at a time? If they had the space they could do all 8... The more maintenance they do spread over time the more easier it becomes. From an operational point of view engineering and ride availability is probably one of the if not THE highest aspects of the park. Ask yourself if your queueing for a ride on a non peak day on two trains and the ride shuts down due to an issue with a train and you have to wait around whilst they work out what's wrong with it would you rather it was on one train that had countless hours of maintenance or a couple of hours in the evening or morning?

Although X:\ No Way Out could probably get away with having a full indoor queue line as it as countless fire escape doors, the ride fire panel is programmed very well, when it goes off all the dividing doors open which are adjacent to the exterior fire exit doors down the side of the building as well as the ventilation chambers reversing and sucking all the air out of building (in the case of a fire it would remove all the smoke from the building) and all the doors down the queue and exit that would essentially stop you going down there close due to the magnets on the doors. Something Saw does not hold is a decent amount of fire escapes from the queue (only two) and the normal exit from the ride. Nor does it hold any. Ventilation chambers which extract smoke from the building at an industrial scale ( only 4 tiny little things that are more to cool the building then programmed for fire reasons I believe) and finally doesn't have any fire doors (ones that close automatically, not that it's really feasible in the shape of the queue).
