  7. Well if you look into the Vampire situation a little deeper...The ride originally closed in 2001 as it had become cost ineffective, and it was seen as costing too much to maintain with such small amount of parts available to be sourced - and plans had started to be drawn up with what they were going to do next with the area - they were going to dismantle Vampire and build a totally different type of ride with the whole area - and remember how large the area is! It spans down from the back of Trail of the Kings all the way down to 'Rig Site' (which is located at the bottom of Black Forest Haunt, behind the metal gates), and obviously up to the Black Buccaneer. Obviously as with every Tussauds update or changing of an area, all different plans were considered. I believe they did invest on the help of John Wardley to essentially - and I quote - 'dig a huge hole and see how we could fit a B&M Inverted into it', however with the water table, surrounding buildings and other such factors, this stopped them and they then took up the path of leaving Vampire as it was. There was obviously everything there; the track, the station, the queue line and surrounding pathways and theming, however much it might have been nice to refresh the area, the idea of refurbishing the ride and what not was a much more viable option and they used Arrow to basically refurbish many parts of the track which had issues, restore many of the supports and also deepen some of the pits in the ride area for clearance.I'm not sure wether or not they stripped the station of theming before or after the refurbishment however I think it was for safety reasons - such as the gates (not that they are much use anymore) and also obviously a new PLC; the essentially made the ride new again and all that exists from the previous one is the track, only the containing building, track and a few supports. Just thought I'd post that condensed down if people hadn't known about it already!

  10. Chessington don't charge for park maps, nor do they charge for car parking.
  11. Not many people are interested in New Media and as it seems to be a growing interest - AP's prove this, it's sort of becoming less New Media, and apparently people open to different sexualities are the first to be attracted to New Media.Apparently.

He was being his normal self, taking the piss Rich, lay off him.
  15. I think it did last year, or one of the Rapids at the Merlin parks did. Not that it'd change much but it does get pretty dodgy seeing as it is a water ride.
  16. For Fury, it is block sectioned, if that's what you're asking?Starts with the station drive (each one a different block and can hold one car) - Drive 1/2/3 being directly after break run, Drive 4 is Transfer track, Drive 5 is station entrance, Drive 6/7/8 move cars along in station from bars release to bars lock, Drive 9 being Dispatch Drive, stopping and starting according to controls. Drive 10 being outside of the station and going to lift, then Lift 1/Drive 11.Block Section 1 between about 9/10ths of way up the lift, and Brake 1 (over Sea Dragons), Block Section 2 between Brake 1 and Brake 2 (over Canopy Capers), Block Section 3 being between Brake 2 and Brake 3 (Over Griffins Galleon), Block Section 3 being between Brake 3 and lower half of Lift 2, Block Section 4 being between top half of Lift 2 and Brake 4 (Over Toadies' Crazy Cars), and Block Section 5 between Brake 4 and Final Trim Run.Which does mean Fury can have two cars on a lift at the same time, if timed correctly!
  17. The two statements are totally different Peter. I said Playhouse is good fun, however how you string those two statements together makes no sense.
  18. Could always use a bucket full of water for it.
  19. Maybe I'm just a bit past finding theme parks amazing or maybe I've grown up a little, but price wise and staff wise, not a great park. Some of the rides are in my favourites but the park really isn't, I can't find how they use the magic to it's full potential and I've always found it's either heaving and no one is enjoying it or it's dead and there really is no atmosphere. There are some great rides but really only a handful such as Oblivion and Nemesis but after that, the rest of the rides are pure bred ****e; look at Spinball and RITA, both rough as heck, with one shaking like it's going out of fashion, and the other that cuts your neck to shreds.I agree that nothing in the UK can stand up to something such as Europa which is just breathtaking, however Alton isn't the best this country has got; I think Lego is the closest we've got to a european theme park, with it just jam packed solid of theming, landscaping and different areas in such a great location, however with Alton it may have 'x' family rides and 'x' thrill rides but with only 2 of them being decent, you can't say it's the best theme park in the country with such lacklustre theming and atmosphere, it is only an advanced version of Chessington.
  20. In all honesty, you aren't missing much.
