  1. To be honest it's over so quickly it's not something to get panicky over, if you don't like the drop then 2 seconds later it will all be over so it won't matter!
  2. Love this! It's true though, don't we all. Especially after working in retail, you begin to HATE everyone.
  3. Thanks, that's a good point. It's likely to be a Sunday rather than a Saturday now so that might help with the busyness.
  4. Thanks Marc, I'm only asking because it's between going then or on a Saturday. The disadvantage with going on a Monday is that we have to wait for an off-peak train which wouldn't get us to the park until 11.30am, whereas on a Saturday we could get there for opening. I'm trying to weigh up whether its worth going on a Monday with less time on park but its more likely to be quiet, or on a Saturday with more time on park but with bugger queues.
  5. Right I want you all to get out your crystal balls and predict how busy it's going to be on Monday 28th June. Only joking, but I would greatly appreciate any genuine advice on how busy you'll think it'll be on this date, using your theme park experience and knowledge. Nothing like queue times, just quiet, medium or heaving would do the trick.
  6. Well yes, the rate at which time seems to fly by these days, I'd say that 2 months time is soon.

    Good for you.
  8. I know quite a few people are soon going to be opening their GCSE results for one, but this topic is really for any exam results that you've received and want to share. Enjoy
  9. I agree, it's not like you're posting their full name or anything.
  10. I would be willing to pay the extra to go to one of the resort hotels personally. (Seeing as my visits to the towers average on one per 5 years). An Alton Towers trip for me wouldn't be complete without a stay in one of the hotels, and as Dan pointed out in the previous post, it works out to £125 prpn, which these days is about the normal rate for a good hotel. I'd say it depends on the experience you want to get, and how often you visit. If you're kids at heart like myself, you won't want to miss the great experience of staying in either Splash Landings or the Alton Towers hotel. Also as someone mentioned above, you will get 20% discount on your package price with your merlin pass.
  11. Ah dang Oh well, still it should be a great deal quieter than mid-summer holiday.
  12. Okay thanks James I'm hoping it to be quite quiet, the end of Year 11 is really the only opportunity I'm going get in the near future of visiting out of peak time.
  13. Just asking for some predictions here: Will the week beginning the 28th June be fairly quiet? I'm not too sure how many schools are off by then, I.e.: if there are likely many students on park from Monday - Friday that week. All of the schools in my area are still at school then, and there are still exams going on for some Year 11's, but does anyone know what the school situation is looking like elsewhere? Therefore could anyone guess whether it would be a quiet time to go?

Who would have thought hearing those three magic words from the right person could change a shockingly rubbish mood into a great one?
  15. I love the red/blue lighting scheme. For me it seems to create a higher sense of fear, especially for first time riders, more so than the green scheme did anyway.
  16. 3 Days is a perfect amount if you ask me. You'll need at least 2 full days in the park to be able to get everything done properly, and then you can use the third day for Cariba Creek (the water park) which is also great fun and a must do.Both resort hotels are good, but in terms of theming and general atmosphere I would say that Splash Landings has the edge. Saying that, the Alton Tower's hotel is just as nice.
  17. Have fun Hopefully the weather will change, well from what it is here anyway!
  18. Glad you had a good weekend James ;)Quite an impressive ride count for the times you were there!
  19. Very true! Edit in progress.
  20. Commonly the biggest mistake everyone I know seems to make at Disneyland Paris: Do not underestimate Big Thunder Mountain! It may not be much at a distant glance, but it truly is one of the best attractions in the park for me. Okay, so here's my list of rides that cannot be missed. (It's a list based on the fact that I am a sucker for great theming as well, not only huge coasters)1. Space Mountain2. Big Thunder Mountain3. Pirate's Of The Caribbean4. Indiana Jones5. Peter Pan's Flight6. Phantom ManorFair enough if you've got time, but if you're pushing it I wouldn't bother with the Buzz Lightyear shooter, a complete waste of time really. Nothing on Tomb Blaster if you ask me.
  21. I haven't really read this thread through recently, but I know that one thing many of the people I know my age rant about is revision. Yes it's a bore, but it's not compulsory. If you keep complaining about it, you need to ask yourself: Do I want straight A's with maybe 1 or 2 A*'s and a few B's? Or would I settle for straight C's with maybe a few D's? As I said, revision isn't compulsory but if you want to get those good grades is it worth it?Do what I did, imagine yourself at your school in a few months time collecting your results. If you opened your envelope and saw straight C's, would you be happy? Would you think to yourself 'maybe it would have been worth putting just a few hours of revision into each subject to get better grades'? Grades, which will stay with you for the rest of your life. As I said I'm not ranting about anyone complaining on here, it just seems to be a common rant with my age group at the moment.
  22. I'm not saying there has to be someone telling others what to do, I don't think there should. But the idea of organising a meet is that when everyone turns up, there is some sort of idea of what is going on. If everyone was just going to turn up and after 5 minutes go off in their own groups not talking to others then there's really no point in holding a meet. I'm not saying someone should shout exactly what is going to happen and tell people where to go, but at least give some sort of interaction with the entire group as a whole.
  23. I have to disagree, the organiser of the meet should really have some sort of authority over the group. You can't honestly expect any other member (especially some of the younger ones) to just stand up in front of everyone and start directing the trip? No, it wouldn't happen. That's what the trip organiser is for.
