  1. To those suggesting that Saw should have had mist/fog/fire - let's be honest, even if there were any of these effects, how long would it be before they were in total disrepair anyway? A year tops?
  2. My least favourites are Colossus during the last five inversions - not unsafe, just uncomfortable, and Samurai, which just seems to click around a lot. When Samurai does a big swing downwards with all your weight resting on the restraint, the restraint just seems to move around a lot! I'm an Inferno fanboy so obviously gonna say they're the best ones! If anyone here's been on TTD at Cedar Point, can they shed some light on how unsafe it must feel on the way down with only lapbars!
  3. I think it was to do with planes flying overhead or something, not completely sure though.
  4. I always preferred RCT2. Graphics so much better

I don't think it's really meant to be a big thrill ride, more a ride for younger guests from the look of it. I'm still thinking there could surely only ever be one of them in the world before it starts to look like other parks are copying each other?

'...our special effects starts with sound, mist and shining eyes.'That'd last about three weeks at Thorpe...
  7. Most of the people I've talked to do think that Inferno is boring. Which of course is completely wrong, being entitled to your own opinion or not.
  8. I queued an hour for it once... only 'cos it broke down when we were standing in the gates! It's okay, but it shakes around and creaks too much for me to not fear for my safety throughout the ride!
  9. Presumably they're doing it now because Easter holidays will be the first real influx of interest in Saw.
  10. I thought it might have meant valid from 12/2/09 is all.
  11. I'd like to think my taste is pretty eclectic, but overall it's predominantly metal. I try to stay away from metal elitism as much as possible though, and I take in most of its subgenres, except maybe nu metal. But I also indulge myself in some JME, Bloc Party, Jurassic 5, We Are Scientists, and Ramones so there's always exceptions. It's basically anything that'll make me want to move, smile, or get drunk.
  12. Some friends and I are planning on travelling from London to Alton Towers in June, and I was wondering whether there were any tips anyone could give in terms of the cheapest way of getting there. So far the cheapest travel plan we've been able to come up with amounted to around £30, so if anyone could top that I'd be grateful.Cheers in advance!

    Instruments

I've never really liked piano that much to be honest - the best keyboard instrument has gotta be the harpsichord - but that's still no reason to call it unoriginal. I'd say that people who play electric guitar are more 'unoriginal', I reckon, but then I play electric guitar. The reason I picked it up wasn't because it was what everyone else was playing, it was because I was starting to get into bands like AC/DC and Kiss, and the guitar was what enabled me to play along to those songs.Anyway yeah I've been playing guitar for about 5/6 years now. I mainly write my own stuff but when necessity calls for it (for example A level performance), I learn covers as well.
  15. Okay cheers. Only thing is, I don't wanna risk it not working when the travel alone is more than a tenner. Reckon it's worth giving them a call or d'you reckon it'll definitely work anyway?
  16. Just an update on my situation:A shiny new free ticket arrived today, but on the letter it says 'you'll be able to use your ticket in May or June'. On the ticket itself, it says 'COMP MAY TO JUNE', but it also says 'Valid 12/2/09'. Does this mean it's only valid in May or June, or does it mean it has to be used by the end of June? The '12/2/09' is the bit that confused me.
  17. Firstly, fewer chavs* (sorry, I'm seriously awful with correcting grammar)And secondly, I reckon Stealth is still more likely to attract chavs than Saw.
  18. So the axes were actually broken, it wasn't a H&S issue as some people were saying?
  19. Firstly, maybe my fault but I'm not actually sure where guest services is. Secondly, I heard no PA announcements. And lastly, perhaps the worst of the three, there were actually staff on the exit as we left (just across the bridge) and they were saying nothing, except maybe 'bye' every so often. I really don't think it was done very well - fair play to them for giving compensation, they could have just let people walk away, but I still think it could have been advertised much more clearly.
  20. Oh also I took a photocopy and scan of my ticket just in case it got lost or anything. And I did send the letter the day after I went, so I don't see why it'd be too late now?PS apologies for the double post
  21. Quoth myself,'...didn't see that free tickets were being given out, and so wrote a letter shortly afterwards to request compensation'
  22. Definitely the best of Thorpe's coasters (although I haven't been on Saw yet) - it's the only B&M I've been on but they're all like it then I cannot wait for more.
  23. Just wondering if anyone's got any experience with how long Guest Services take to respond to letters? I ask because I went to Thorpe on the 15th (when there was a powercut and a lot of stuff was down), didn't see that free tickets were being given out, and so wrote a letter shortly afterwards to request compensation (I enclosed my ticket from the day so I assume there's no reason why they wouldn't send free tickets). I sent it last Monday second class, so I'm assuming it's got there; my friends and I were planning on returning this Sunday though, so what d'you reckon the chances are of our free tickets being sent to us by Sunday?Cheers if anyone can help me out.
  24. Tesco Clubcard ticket for entry, then non-London route train ticket (Clapham Junction>Staines), £8.30, then Thorpe bus, £3 return. Then the only remaining price is noms and souvenirs if you're that way inclined.
