  1. Looks at Maverick, then looks at Lightning Rod awkwardly...
  2. Given that it's Spain I do believe all attractions are available, though I'm sure the website must have a "closed for maintenance" page... Though PA would probably just shrug their shoulders and not bother about that...
  3. The joy of having a fully fledged pathway underneath the ride, rather than a grassy field... Hopefully I'll be able to attend the opening day for this...

    2019 Season

Probably also helped with the general "thrill park" image, but it's hard to argue that the thrill line up at Thorpe is a problem... It's just everything else that is
  5. No because Phantasialand don't like enthusiasts...
  6. Hey at least they're still open in most off-peak weekdays, some places across the world don't even do that... Perhaps if there was a balance between later opening hours in busier times, but I'm not sure that there's a real appetite culturally for 10pm summer closes for example... Thorpe's events were an attempt but the weird implementation possibly confused visitors...
  7. As fab as a RMC TdZ would be, I can't see it happening... A retrack would be appreciated though...

    Legoland

Rocket Racers 3? Putting a dark ride there wouldn't be great given the location requiring a ridiculous throughput... Perhaps something like a "Factory Tour" style attraction like at Germany would be ideal...

    Anti-Rant

It's because we all tend to unite against one common enemy... Plus blind fanboyism is often limited to one or two people on a forum, and can be easily ignored... We're quite a lucky group in that most decisions that are bad tend to be universally agreed on as such...
  10. It's so weird, as a really great idea could've been to have you queue under it (though trying that without breaking the illusion would be difficult)... Another box checked off the badly designed ride checklist though...
  11. Sounds like one of those days, spite and cred anxiety never help trips... I've never had issues with food either, but I'm usually scoffing one of their BBQ sausages in the entrance.. I did try the pasta once and it was adequate... Think I've heard similar things from others mind...
  12. Isn't that what they did with DBGT? I'd imagine cost, barely anyone alters a ride unless it's old or unpopular (Dodonpa is probably the most famous ride to be altered?), the expense of a brand new ride is probably equal if not less...
  13. Don't think Sarki have the space to take part in one, though probably could've said the same prior to Taiga...
  14. Incredibly random, presumably pointless. I think they'll be reducing the vodka budget at the end of season party next year...

    Thorpe Park 2020

I mean, I wouldn't say never for Thorpe (or any UK park) to get a RMC in the future... The Loggers area would suit one to a tee after all... In terms of previous development at the park, Tussauds HAD to build lots of new things in quick succession because there was NOTHING THERE! Prior to Tidal Wave you had Loggers Leap and NWO as the biggest things!
  16. I really liked Trananananan, and do wish a few more parks had taken a punt on the ride type... I sense maintenance and throughput issues may have been a boundary for them though... Looks weird this one...
  17. BPB used to have 3 "flumes" (loathe to call Valhalla a log flume) so 2 is nothing...
  18. Halloween stuff then. Decent attempt, nice use of the pre existing hedge maze to have both a day time and night time maze variant. Was also weirdly the best run queue of the evening. Very much a focus on the look of the actors, some good interaction with guests in the scare zones. Queues weren't great though (2 took over an hour) and the general quality was apparently not great. Think they are torn between the family audience and being full in scary. Minimal theming beyond the zones (which weren't that well themed in cases). The circus area being the best looking but those are a dime a dozen really. Avalon and Port Laguna are gorgeous areas. Fenix is decent but still not as good as Raptor. Slightly better than Swarm purely because of the cool dragon animatronic. Think Avalon is slightly barren a little bit though as there's not much between the two rides and the restaurant. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few flats spring up over the year or two. I was wrong about Troy, it ran like mad at night. Plus the lighting and effects package were spot on. Shout out to the Ollivanders rip off too. Was cute. Toverland are in a good spot for the future I think. Doubt they'll go bigger than Fenix as a ride but that's not their remit. Marked improvement in their infrastructure and hopefully they will continue bringing rides and areas up to scratch in between the next big thing.
  19. Is that a cobra roll? VOM! Plus 1 for not sure if keeping in with the park's aesthetic...
  20. It'll open when its open... Phantasialand have been done in before with dodgy delays and doubt they'll ever risk it again...
  21. When did I say that? Day to day checks will be done by the frontline staff, H&S guys will sign off the maze after a few checks before day one but beyond that won't do much else unless problems are raised or major changes are required... Mean as long as their risk assessment is being followed then their job is done... I'm not sure if maintenance have to do checks on mazes like they do with rides before handing over, sure someone can say... The term health and safety executive is used for the government body... Maybe your use of that term is where there's some confusion? Not sure what qualifications you need to be a theme park health & safety role... I mean I've sat in some training rooms and can make a risk assessment and my job isn't H&S directly... At the end of the day, even a simple injury can lead to something much worse, even something as daft as a loose nail... And it's the park's responsibility to ensure it doesn't happen again... To say stupid things like "going round in cushions next year if a nail is a problem" is pure nonsense and shows little understanding of what companies have to do to work within health and safety remits... All reported injuries have to be investigated after all, if they're not reported then that's the guest's decision, but the park has a duty of care on top of that...
  22. Why would the HSE send someone? It's the parks responsibility to check rides (and mazes) everyday, you'd hope that would result in noticing such thing... I even said originally going to GS is the wrong thing, if something happens like this, you tell the staff members there... At least then it can be looked at quickly (stop sending people through, ask actors to have a look for 5 minutes) and hopefully remedied... I'm not going to Thorpe, I wasn't even the one involved in the initial comment... But I will comment on things when people make daft comments about H&S matters...
  23. Again, that would be the park's own decision, no one at the HSE would be jumping up and down to make them force people to do such a thing... Of course incidents can and do happen, but there's a massive difference in someone slipping up and falling over and say a piece of thematic masonry falling on their head (based off a near miss example)... The park is directly culpable for one of those incidents (though depending on the reasoning behind the slip, the park could also be at fault, but let's say it was a pure accident) and if taken further could be punished (injury depending)... Everywhere that's remotely dangerous goes on about how safety is number 1 priority, and yet due to various reasons people still get hurt... Given recent history, Merlin should be ensuring a fine tooth comb over everything, even the odd loose nail could cause a massive public headache in the future... To say that this is why we "can't have fun" anymore shows a complete disconnect to the role of company (and persons) involved in ensuring safety...
