  1. If you mean the cause of the crash, it is suspected to be human error but no official information has been released yet.
  2. In reality it probably is the same set piece, just with heavy modifications. It's good that they haven't just reused it in the same state though, and it looks good.
  3. Looks good! Annual Pass Preview Tickets are now available; https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fright-nights-merlin-annual-passholder-preview-event-tickets-18435774899 Just a heads up, it says that Containment will not be available on the night (however passholders can experience it at a discounted price on another day), The Big Top will not be available until 8pm, and the only rides open will be The Swarm, Stealth, Colossus, Nemesis Inferno and Saw: The Ride.
  4. Is this preview day tickets? If so, where?
  5. That does suggest Doctor Who IMO, what with the use of a pocket watch and overall theme of time.
  6. I thought it was testing a few weeks back but with a very different looking train, or are they the shells?
  7. Correct, Revolution was my second looping coaster with my first being Klondike at Hayling Island (Pinfari looper).
  8. 1. My first wooden coaster was Megafobia at the age of six. 2. My first looping coaster was the Revolution. 3. My favourite Fright Nights horror maze was The Asylum.
  9. That's rubbish, but at least they haven't cut back the opening hours of Fright Nights like in 2012. They need more than just a new ride to give them a boost IMO, it should bring more guests in but they really need to sort out their reliability as lots of rides closed is likely to put off repeat custom, as well as gaining the park bad publicity meaning that other potential customers might also be put off.
  10. Before seeing this, I initially expected that the maze would be in either Curse's tent or Se7en's tent, but painted in circus colours. It would be brilliant if the whole section currently constructed was for an undercover queueline with an atmospheric soundtrack, and then they could re-use one of the two tents on the other side of the beach which could be hidden away from the queueline. Actually really looking forward to this maze now!
  11. For a temporary maze that looks very good so far, looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  12. The bit about the parks is true, but Valhalla was voted 2nd best water ride last year. EDIT: Just had a thought, hopefully the award will encourage them to think about improving throughput, it was only running 8 boats most days in the summer with full queue overflowing from the queueline!
  13. Yes, I know it doesn't, but let's also remember that this is a BPB topic. Just to clear things up, I'm not trying to say that Valhalla is better than Chiapas, in fact I would like to ride the latter to make up my own mind about which ride I prefer.
  14. To be fair you only see it for a second, but it is still naff and should be pitch black at least. Valhalla is not a perfect dark ride, with one of the main issues being that the non-themed parts of the ride are hidden by effects which don't always work, but remember that the award was for water ride and in terms of dark rides in the UK it still comes out trumps above the rest IMO.
  15. I'm not judging it, I'm just saying that it takes place mostly outdoors rather than indoors and isn't a dark ride. It doesn't look grotty though, it's been cleaned up a lot in the last few years but a park that's over 100 years old isn't going to look brand new! As for it being "concrete", they actually replaced the flooring of about 80% of the park a few years back which is why there's all the nice different types of block paving rather than boring concrete everywhere. As for "unpolished theming", I have no issue with that section of the ride whatsoever and find it funny that you highlight that but completely miss the bin-bag tunnel!
  16. Well it's more convincing than Zufari's, at least they bothered with a roof! Being more serious though, I'm not even sure if that is supposed to be a cave, it's supposed to be two waterfalls. EDIT: The plans state it as "two cascading waterfalls", so it's not supposed to be a cave. Whereas this scene is supposed to be a cave, and it looks much more realistic. I haven't ridden Chiapas (or any water ride outside the UK) and whilst it looks fantastic, Valhalla combines a complete dark ride with a very good water ride, whereas Chiapas is a very well themed log flume, but one that takes place mostly outside without any of the high budget effects that Valhalla has.
  17. You can't judge any rides fully without experiencing them for yourself, especially not dark rides! I don't see what's wrong with the tunnels anyway. The rides being close together is something I like about the park anyway, it makes it unique (and easier to get a higher ridecount! ) I think a lot of people are too picky about the park to be honest, it is an amusement park after all. I do criticise them about lots of things, but compared to other parks in the UK their presentation is much better IMO, and people not liking the rides is simply down to their personal opinions.
  18. Don't even get me started on the number of classic rides that have been removed, it is a disgrace. However, things like the Gold Mine were revamped in the name of progress which I don't have an issue with, it's the removal of rides like the Water Chute, Noah's Ark, Turtle Chase and several others that I have an issue with. But, the park still offers several historical attractions (five wooden coasters, Flying Machines, River Caves, Derby Racer, Ghost Train, Vintage Carousel, Steeplechase) amongst newer ones. I don't see what they could do to cover up the "beasty bits" of them, I have no issue with the way the rides at BPB are presented to be honest. There are several areas of foilage in the park, but with such little space I'd rather they filled it with rides! It's also worth remembering that they are an amusement park, not a theme park.
  19. PARK OPEN: 10am - 5pm (We left at 3:30pm) RIDES CLOSED: Tomb Blaster, Safari Skyway. (Rattlesnake opened halfway through the day). We had an average day at Chessington. The park had moderate crowds but poor ride operations meant that queues built up quickly and moved slowly, for example Zufari was only using two vehicles, and Rattlesnake was running four cars with much slower dispatch times than previously - I can only hope that this is a temporary measure. Vampire was running two trains but stacking reguarly. It was a shame to see that several areas of the park have been left to rot and ruin. Several ride areas have had yet more theming torn out of them (Vampire's queue and station for example), and the flats/carriages of rides could all do with a scrub down, as most are filthy. Overall, from the grubby entrance plaza to the state of the rides and park areas as a whole, Chessington really needs a major cleanup, several cans of paint and TLC to get the rides back in fully working order! However, it was nice to see some of the cave finale in Zufari working! Single Rider on Dragon's Fury was a welcome addition, although it was quite a slow moving SRQ, it was still considerably less than the main queue time (advertised as 50 minutes). A final point to note, the state of the car park is a disgrace. The road is not tarmacked meaning that anything above 5 MPH would damage the suspension of your car - something I read a lot of complaints about over the summer. Further to this, they were forcing cars to drive round the entirety of these roads at the back of the fields on the way in, rather than the old (much better) system of driving up the short gravel road near the barriers and turning left into the field. I find it unacceptable that the park have stopped people parking in the concrete car park when this one is in such a state. RIDECOUNT: Dragon's Fury x1 Vampire x1 Rattlesnake x1 Rameses Revenge x1 Bubbleworks x1 Dragon Falls x1 Scorpion Express x1 Monkey Swinger x1 Black Buccaneer x1 Griffin's Galleon x1 Thanks for reading.
  20. I don't see how it's messy and gross at all to be honest. The park has been cleaned up a lot in the past few years, and the interaction between coasters is part of why I like the park so much. As for Valhalla, you can't judge a ride if you haven't been on it. BPB offer a unique variety of rides from across the last century which have been well preserved, how many parks have such a vast collection of historical rides coupled with newer ones?
  21. Depends what you want in a park really. I enjoy all the coasters at BPB and the fact that they have the biggest collection of wooden coasters in the world is one of the main reasons for me visiting, as well as the fact that I enjoy PMBO (don't care what enthusiasts think about it, it's popular with the GP and I like it) and there isn't one coaster there that bores me. Also has the best atmosphere in the UK IMO. It used to have amazing operations, sadly that hasn't been the case for a number of years now. I do want to visit Europa, it looks amazing.
  22. That's my opinion on parks as well. Just looked on RCDB and Tokyo Disney only has three coasters - not saying that the theming isn't world class, but personally I generally class scenery as secondary to a good ride.
  23. Where is the second photo from? I don't see any rides there.
  24. Just had a proper look and they were voted the 6th best park in the world as well. I don't know who actually votes in this but 6th place isn't half bad!
