You can't no. Tried it last year for a friend and she ended up having to pay £50 to get in.

Really? I used the £10 voucher last year and it was fine, and I asked if it would be valid this year and they said yes, but if the park is full to capacity then it doesn't guarantee entry.

It might be worth messaging the park's Facebook page as they are usually quick to respond on there.

  2. The Fastrack queue for Ghost Train was in use today when it first opened, I'm not sure if it was an organised event or whether they sold Fastrack tickets because I was under the impression that it wouldn't be used until next year?

The batching was in favour of Fastrack and as a result, the main queue moved at a snail's pace for the first hour of the ride being open, causing the line to build up to the ride entrance which wouldn't have otherwise happened!  It took us 40 minutes from just before the last straight section of the queueline.

Someone at Thorpe park who is in charge of the website wanted to leave early today. The newly updated fright nights page is littered with spelling mistakes.

see below the "railraod" and the "haunted soulds" lol. The videos are from last year and to top it off the links to the fast track tickets do not work lol.

Aha that's hilarious, but it really shouldn't be happening from a park as well established as Thorpe - or any park for that matter.

Hope they put more effort into the actual event

  4. Does anyone know anything more about "campfire stories?"  I'm not sure if it's included in the event or an extra for people staying in the Shark Hotel?

It sounds promising, I just hope that the changes in The Big Top and Blair Witch are substantial rather than just small changes here and there.  TBT does have potential, and the new soundtrack sounds good, so I really hope there will be major improvements this year.

  5. ScareTOUR have posted some more info on this year's Fright Nights;

    Quote

We now have the full write up for Fright Nights at THORPE PARK Official confirming a number of new points about the event including Campfire Stories, an upgrade for Blair Witch to tie in with the current movie, an updated Big Top, Face It Alone experiences and even more back story about Platform 15 -

"Platform 15 is set in the Park’s woodlands; it is the largest scare maze to date covering 450 metres. Guests will depart on a one way ticket along an overgrown railway line which is the last known route of the Sleeper Express, a locomotive that disappeared into thin air with all passengers still on board.

Take your turn to walk the Island’s backroads which have never before been accessible to the public. Guests will face a deserted railroad, explosions, séances, Ouija boards and pitch black forestry. They may also find themselves hunted and chased in the depths of the forest, so they must tread carefully and not disturb the grounds – zombie ‘Sleepers’ hidden amongst the trees may awaken.

The scare doesn’t stop there, in partnership with Lionsgate the Blair Witch scare maze has received an overhaul to tie in with the new film’s twisted tale.

As part of the Park’s birthday celebrations, roaming scare actors will be unleashed on the Park after 6pm, so the scares will continue outside the mazes. Guests can choose which characters arrive at the Park by voting on the Thorpe Park Official Facebook page. They can choose from a selection of frightful fiends who have graced Fright Nights mazes over the past 15 years, and bring them back to the Park for one last scare.

I like the sound of explosions in Platform 15!

Although saying that I didn't like the repetitive use of Thorpe theme/Quantum music alongside the video. It only used about a minute of the full entrance theme track.

I don't know why they ever changed it, the original entrance theme is a great piece of music.  Having the entrance music playing at the park entrance and across the bridge, and then chart music in the dome would be much better IMO.

When they get round to finally confirming that Loggers is never coming back, will you still include it in closed rides lists?

They've said it is closed for rennovations, I trust that they wouldn't lie to the public. :)

  8. So Merlin have essentially left Thorpe with a white elephant?

My issue with Ghost Train is that it already feels like it's been neglected for years in terms of the condition of the ride, yet it hasn't even been open fully for three months.

On my most recent ride the VR kept glitching out showing white/grey patches, this has happened on previous rides but to a lesser extent. The screen sometimes tilts when you move your head, and the audio was inaudible. Other aspects weren't functioning but that has already been mentioned.

For the audio, IMO a sound system on the train would work better, but there couldn't be any different scenarios then so it's not really viable.

Operationally it's a nightmare, and I know new rides have issues but this is the worst I've seen since starting to pay attention to theme parks. Has it actually opened on time once?
