  1. I reckon that the new maze will be 'You're Next' and the whole park will have actors roaming with those masks on. There probably won't be any other mazes with a Lionsgate IP and the quotes are being used from those films simply because of similar themes to 'You're Next' and the fact that Lionsgate own them (no copyright).

I just don't think they would be able to secure a deal to base mazes on "old" films... It would cost much more for TP because the deal wouldn't be promoting those films and therefore not beneficial for Lionsgate.

  2. None of those are world firsts, and the coaster doesn't even "duel" as such, there just happen to be trains coming close to each other at one or two moments. Unless they refine the synchronisation later... Basically there is no secret element, although there are a few surprise features.

It does look like an amazing ride, though! Wow!

I was being sarcastic, as there was apparently a secret world's first according to enthusiasts and unnamed "sources". ;)

Also the coaster does seem to duel, although not every time which will most likely be sorted.

  3. The thing I will be interested to know is if there was another 'secret' element thing that they keep saying will be kept under wraps until opening. I don't wanna know what it is but I do want to know if there is one

    Projection mapping or duelling?

Not sure which one is the worlds first though?

Watching the updates on TT Live and Towers Nerd and it looks awesome! Hopefully will be able to go - first time as well! :D

  4. If only the inside of the station was like the VFX version. ^_^

Good advert, but The Swarm's was better.

I hope the queue line videos are along the lines of swapping the glum faces of Britain for a nice yellow smile (double-pun ;)).

  5. They wouldn't rush the music just because construction was delayed... They've had ages to do it.

I like it, if fits in with the whole 'Not-serious-but-very-serious' atmosphere - and it drives you crazy ^_^

I didn't mean the construction being delayed. The coaster actually looks fun! :D It's just everything around it smacks of amateur when you compare it to the treat we had with The Swarm... Nothing really fits in and apparently that makes it OK, and yet The Swarm was criticised for a tent that could barely be seen from the island.

  6. Oh how I seriously hope it sounds a LOT better in person.

Me too. It feels like the coaster is so rushed and they have ignored the original theming and premise. The Smiler is supposed to be psychological and clinical, which the music doesn't really reflect! It should have been more delicate etc and not so bombastic

  7. Giant tin building =/= Giant shipping container...

You're right. I'd rather have a shipping container if I'm honest.

Shipping containers might not be original, eye-pleasing etc but at least they are somewhat linked to The Swarm's theme, whereas The Smiler is supposed to be very clinical and tidy!? That makes a lot of sense.

  8. Anyone else feel like the marmaliser was created by a totally different design team? I'm not an expert on the behind the scenes, but it's just strange that the station, entrance, games stall and area is on a completely different level compared to the beast in the centre.

  9. Hi there,

Admittedly I lurk far more than I contribute to the site but I'd figure I'd share a video I have just finished up editing due to the crazy amount of FX and editing work I've been doing alongside A Levels!

It's based on the popular horror game Slender and the new technology by Google, called Google Glass.

I'd really, really appreciate it if you check it out and maybe leave a response or rating!

  10. To be honest when I first rode Saw I was abit dissapointed cos I've been on all three eurofighters in this country, (Speed, Saw and Rage) and honestly even though the other 2 have no themeing, enjoy these ones more becuase they werent hyped up then they were opened like saw and therefore I enjoyed theseones more then Saw which I couldnt help but feel dissapointed at. Apart from the fact that Saw is rougher then the over 2,its the fact they hyped it up so much, its like Thirteen, you just wish they hadnt gone over the top with the hype because you would probably enjoy the ride more. That is my biggest problem with Saw.

    Whoa whoa, steady there...

  11. but staiines isn't a quiet town in the countryside

To be honest, the Staines area is more of a quarry and waterside area than a country side surrounding unlike Towers, Legoland and Chessington (to a degree).

I always thought the theming of the ride was that it was a quiet town in countryside for some reason. Possibly because the church is almost identical to the one in my town. :P

  12. The question is...how many spiderwebs etc did they have to clear out when they recently went back inside for the first time in months...! Looking around an untouched, 'abandoned' Saw Alive certainly would be intriguing.

Hopefully all has been sorted after the fire earlier this year and it provides some good thrills.

Thinking about it, it would actually be pretty cool if they left it how it was! :D Especially the outside with all the overgrown plants etc.

  13. This is what I said;

ME: I am phoneing up to enquire about the fright night on 19th october. can I book that over the phone with you?

TP: Booking details for the event will be released soon, it is going to be exciting as there is a new horror attraction coming your way.

ME: I know I'm very excited about this, they are releasing details about this today arent they?

TP: Yes these details will be released shortely, I have been told that there will be a £3 entrance fee to this attraction.

ME: Oh right, Why is there an extra charge as the prices for fright nights already are increased?

TP: It is because the maze includes a world first element.

    ME: Oh Right

TP: Is there anything else we can help you with?

ME: Yea can you confirm the family and friend discount price for that day using a merlin annual pass?

TP: Thorpe Park have not eyt decided whether or not to put the family and friend discount in place for this event. But there final decition will be made and released in due course.

    ME: Ok, Thank you.

Hope this gives a bit of outline as to how the conversation went ... to me it just doesnt seem fair as an annual pass holder! He also mentioned that the other mazes as usual would be included in the price.

    Sounds awesome; I'm intrigued! :D
