  1. The problems I see with Thorpe's water rides/

Rumba Rapids/ too tame and bring since the 02 revamp and sponsor removal as the ride now lacks proper theming and interactive experiences.

Depth Charge/ Thorpe classic but over too quickly and can still get manic queues.

Tidal Wave/ excellently themed and atmospheric too, but unless its a hot day (which don't come too much nowadays), you come off completely drenched feeling very cold and unfomftable.

Loggers Leap/ the best water ride Thorpe has but the ride has been neglected and needs a paint up in places, a nice clean and a new tunnel.

Storm Surge/ serves no major purpose other than being a cross of depth and rumba with an appearance that appears to be a carbon copy of Tidals.

  2. I actually find Depth Charge a lot of fun, but I guess if they're aiming to be the National's Thrill Capital, it doesn't fit in, at all. I'm kind of baffled (and I think they are too) about which direction they're going in. They target themselves at teenagers/young adults, but they added Storm Surge and have now lowered the height limit of X. Maybe it's because of all the teenage pregnancies about the park can appeal to their kids too :P

Thorpe park post of the month.

  3. Sounds cool. I will certainly give it a try.

I know making it go forward may seem slightly disappointing for some, but having learnt from past experience (Backwards Swarm), all I can say is, ''don't knock it till you try it.'

On a different but somewhat related note, I guess that means "The worlds first and only Backwards roller coaster in the dark" is no more.

Very true, but they've gained the status of the worlds only sky swat now. As for this decision, I'm looking forward to the new X and should prove an interesting experience.

  4. According to the ticket prices page, Legoland's car park charge has now risen to £3 which is the first hike (what will no doubt be any through the years) since the pid system came in three years ago.

Bad news for standard merlin and non pass holder guests. However premium parking as gone down (still too much though).

  5. Though quite a few people seem to shun Depth Charge, I would like it stay for a while as its one of Thorpes classics and the way you enter the park with the beach and the rides in the distance is quite exciting how you're at the start of the thrilling experience.

With new boats (and what appears to be some tlc to the ride), I can see Depth Charge staying at least three more years.

  6. Its a shame we never got that woodie (where Saw lives now) as not just would we have seen the tunnel restored but (to a degree) improved with the proposals of the train going through a joint tunnel with loggers.

  7. I first rode Bubbleworks when I was around 10/11 - so around 1990/91. I loved it - definitely my favourite ride there at the time (was too scared to go on Vampire back then  ). I remember going into the shop afterwards and getting a Professor Burps fizzy pop drink thing (basically a small bottle of fizzy drink but with the Prof on the front). Although I do still ride it when I visit with my niece it just isn't the same anymore. I do still like the music though :D

I like the music as well, but the ducks literally ruin it for me p,us the fair ground loop cuts are shocking.

  8. Hi all, perhaps a bit off topic but didn't there used to be some sort of small playground near Depth Charge called Sea Snakes and Ladder? Only it used to appear on the attraction list but has disappeared in recent years.
