  1. Glad you had a better experience in the tunnel than me RobF but my point is that if what you experienced is meant to be what happens, this should happen on everyone's run through!! So many people are going to be left disappointed if they had the experience I had, which is sad but TP need to pull their finger out and sort it out!
  2. Yesterday I started on the big top and it was truely awful. One actor in the strobe room and 2 in the prop room. Somehow caught up with the group infront of us and a group also caught up with our group so 3 groups ended up together which didnt help it be even the slightest bit scary. Really wanted to do platform 15 as it was new so joined the 90 min queue. I cannot stress how ridiculous this scare attraction is. It begins with an actor telling the group a story whilst walking down a pathway, me and my partner were at the back of a huge group (get the feeling they were increasing group sizes to eat the queue quicker as the fasttrack queue was enormous as well as the main queue) but this meant we couldnt hear a word she was saying. Think they could do with hooking this actor up with a microphone if they are going to let such large numbers through at a time! We then reached the train scene which gave us something to look at at least, but nothing happened. When walking the very long walk to the tunnel, again, nothing happened. You cannot drive and promote a maze praising it for its length if its literally a walk along a gravel pathway with the occasional grave stone. When at the tunnel, 2 actors made groaning noises and then stood together having a drink of water whilst another told us to walk through the tunnel in a conga line fashion. The tunnel had plenty of scope to be scary as it was dark and confined but apart from the actor who was trying to summon spirits at the end, there was noone in there. A light flashed and there was a bang and then we were asked to leave the tunnel quickly - we left and everyone just looked around wondering if that was seriously it. We did this in the dark expecting it to be brilliant but would have been better off doing it in the day as the queue was so much shorter!! 90 mins for an absolute joke of an attraction, honestly would only go to it again if it had no queue. Only positive I can say was that the music was my cup of tea, which was lucky as we heard it continuously for so long!! Hopefully things will get better for next week but that shouldn't be the case - they are shut during the week so have no excuse to have such poor attractions in my opinion. If they want rehearsal nights, which this could have been passed off as, they should charge people less to get in and advertise it as such!
  3. Jeez, now you're making me think we really can just walk through the gate and ride It!! Ha ha that would be bloody brilliant
  4. I agree with you! But I just think he is an all round attractive guy to be honest
  5. My friend has just told me that the park have confirmed over facebook that during September and October the park will be closed every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Cant post a link as I'm not part of facebook and wouldnt even know where to look for the comment!
  6. No offence but that just makes your point invalid. The "standard" person who doesnt know the actors doesnt get this more intense experience during a normal run through of a maze. Therefore the touching at thorpe is less intense than that at AT if everyone is getting thrown about etc regardless if they know the actors or not.
  7. Anyone else done containment? I thought it was utter poop and just wanted to compare incase it was just a bad run through or something?! It certainly was not worth paying for thats for sure! Considering the horror stories of last weekend though, I thought most mazes were fairly decent - I'll review them later when I'm back from work
  8. ↑↑ thats the point though, they should have been able to get it open and fully completed to enable the actors to prepare. To then just have the attitude of 'well it will improve and be finished in a couple weeks' its just a joke. Its ok to have the main attraction finished and 100% brilliant towards the end of the event? I dont think so.
  9. I personally think that that is outrageous. How is that acceptable from a company as big as them who have had all year to plan for this event?! I get that it means things can only get better but I still dont think its an acceptable excuse and I will be super unimpressed if it is still unfinished when I go next week.I have to agree with pluk, these problems should not be happening on this scale at an event that has been running for years.
  10. Review 21st - 23rd Contains spoilers Back from a few days on park so heres a review, all the days merged into one though so I cant be specific on days ha ha!! Firstly, theming on park is the bees knees as always!! Pumkins, scarecrows, haybails, lighting, the works!! Puts thorpe park to shame!! Also, "spooky" music played non stop, although it was the same few songs on repeat so got a little sick of hearing things like the time warp every 15 mins or so!! Carnival of Screams: Now, this maze never really scares me. I just find it fun. I liked that the layout was different this year but the ending was pretty poor. I'm guessing we were meant to run out scared, but there were too many people in my group and noone could find the exit. The actor playing Jack couldnt chase us as the room was packed to the brim and he clearly didnt want to push us out!! A good maze, still fun but not very scary. TOTT: I thought this maze was more impressive in previous years. I liked the theming, but the actors sadly let it down. Their costumes were amazing but they struggled to pull of any jump scares. If the actors were able to touch us I think it would have been better. The only time my group jumped was when the curtains blew in the wind! The final was a let down. The music inside was building up like it was going to be something truely amazing, but we walked into the room to find one actor. He tried his best bless him but there was not much he could really do trying to work the whole room by himself. We left the maze thinking 'that was it?!' Sanctuary: I liked this - the actors were hilarious!! Take my hat off to the first man we came across who set the scene of the maze before letting us through the door. He was so good at acting. Then when we went through the door the first patient we ame across was also amazing. He had us all in stitches because he was acting like a small child who the doctor then told off and he burst into tears and tried to follow us to get away from him!! The rooms had good theming and at least 3 times the amount of actors that TOTT had. Although I loved this maze, it was meant to be a scary attraction and my entire group just found the whole thing funny. The actors were not trying to scare us they were acting and bouncing off each other, almost like they were acting out mini scenes of a movie. It wored well because all of the rooms made sense and it was like watching a movie, it just lacked any sense of horror. I'd do it again, it was the best of the 3 mazes. It was a shame it just was not scary in the slightest. I would have like to have done it as an 'extreme maze' but the tickets were sold out. If I'm paying to do a maze, I want to be scared. They need more 'extreme' tickets. Zombies: Theming was good and the actors make up was AMAZING. It just was not scary. Again, I think this would have been better if they could have touched us. They also didnt try to do any jump scares. They were just wandering around being zombies. Maybe this is the point in a zombies scare zone, but I've done this on other visits and had jump scares in there. This visit seemed lie more of an opportunity to admire their make up, which we did. All in all, a very fun visit. Its just a shame it was meant to be scary! Love to hear reviews on the extreme mazes if anyone was lucky enough to get tickets?
  11. There are several projections on the walls which change constantly. The strobe lighting comes on every now and again. In my experiences it came on every few mins or so for about 5 seconds at a time? Went on the smiler this week as I was at AT for a few days. Apart from the effects not woring like other people have had problems with and also it braking down non stop, I didnt find it all that great. Now dont get me wrong, it is a good ride, very smooth and fun, but I just felt like it lacked something. Maybe the effects give it that wow factor? Personally I found watching it more impressive than the ride itself. It looks immense!! But once I finished riding it I walked off thinking 'that was fun' not 'oh my that was the best ting ever!!' It was just missing something that I cant quite put my finger on. Still a good ride though. Maybe thats the problem - I think its a good ride and not a great one!
  12. Ha ha I saw them loads of times yesterday!! Sometimes with an actor trying to get away from them, mostly without though. At the start of the evening they were all female actors then at around 8ish they were male! Clearly you got good maze action whilst I just got youre next actors!!
  13. ^^ Glad you had a better evening than me!! Clearly I picked awful time slots to go into the mazes, which is a shame as they should be good quality whatever time you go in them!!
  14. I dont understand how they can be so inconsistant. Maybe its because they know people like me will go twice incase of bad experiences and they think they'll make more money ha ha!! But seriously, had I not have gone on sunday and seen how good it can be I would have been fuming. hence why my firends who didnt come on sunday are writing letters of comlaint!!
  15. I really dont know. Like I said, I love fright nights and sunday was the best I've ever seen it. Maybe I was just very unlucky yesterday?! But sunday it was raining So much but even the roaming actors were loving it!! To be honest I think I'm more disgusted about them not kicking the people out the park. Who wants to have bad maze experiences AND feel uncomfortable in the queue lines?!
  16. Ok guys, I'm not one to complain - I normally just come on here, have a nose and barely say a word. However last night was something one cannot describe. Awful just doesnt cut it. A few pages bac I wrote a full on essay reviewing Sunday 13th, please, please read it so you can see I'm not a moaner. I loved frightnights that day. I did however say I'd compare the two days so here I go: Friday 18th review: Ok, so to start it was much busier than Sunday, this however didnt bother me - queing for a maze adds to the tension :-D Saw Alive: Again, we started with Saw Alive, as this is always the least strong maze (oh boy how we were wrong!!) Compared to last time, this maze had upped its game! It was like thorpe had taken all the feedback from last time and acted upon it!! A good mix of lighting and smoke created an atmosphere, but left us still able to see. Actors were on top form and even filled their roles on the torture devices rather than totally relying on jump scares. It was very good, to be honest the best I've ever seen it! Well done Thorpe :-D So this is where it all went downhill, big time. Maybe its because I had such a good day on Sunday that nothing could compare? Who knows? Cabin in the Woods: Spoiler Warning So all the maze queues were minimum of 45 mins to an hour, so when we walked past cabin and discovered it was only a 10 min queue maybe we should have realised it was like that for a reason. However we loved it SO much on Sunday (again please go back and read to compare reviews!) we jumped at this chance to get on it so quickly!! To begin with, where were the actors?! On Sunday, everyroom (except the basement and the control room, but control wasnt open Sunday) had at least one actor. We went into the first room (where you initially choose a door) and there was noone. We then went into the garden (door one) and there was noone. Oh wait! I tell a lie! There was an actor, lying down on the floor in the corner sleeping. I say sleeping, because he didnt move and didnt even seem to realise people were walking past. We then chose door 3, to find each room we passed to contain no actors, the exeption being the room with the masks. The actor there just stood in the middle flapping his arms like a bird. From then on things went from bad to worse. We went past the lift all the way to the tunnel only seeing one actor, who just waled over to us, screamed, then walked away. More shockingly, after the spinning tunnel, and going to the part I cant really describe other than the poorly themed corridor were the floor slopes down, before we turned the corner, we could hear 3 actors talking about what time they were finishing work. More rudely, as we walked towards them and they had to end their conversation, it was like we shouldnt have been in there. One lady turned to my partner and said "Whats the point in me being here if you're not scared? We cant scare you if we cant hea you coming!" So he replied "we cant scream and be loud if there has been noone scaring us, instead of chatting maybe one of you should have been in spinning tunnel" She then got in a huff and continued to slouch over the barrier, clearly waiting for us to leave so their chat could continue. I'm sorry thorpe. These were the best actors you could find?! What happened to the ones from Sunday?! So after leaving there incredibly annoyed we headed to Asylum, which is always good! Asylum: Now, maybe it was because we were annoyed from Cabin still, or maybe we are justified to be outraged by what happened here, I'll let you guys judge that, but prepare for a major rant here!! We join a 45min queue and are only in it for 10 mins before something kicks off. From what we witness, a group of people try to queue jump past some other people in the row next to us. Now I hate queue jumping, but the reaction of the people was disgusting and thorpe handled the situation really badly. Group 1 (the original people in the queue) Group 2 (queue jumpers) A memeber of group one starts mouthing off at group 2 but quickly turns quite aggressive. His friend in group one starts pushing the nearest memeber of group 2 and then puts her cigeratte out on his face. So close to their eye they're lucky they are now not blind. Group 2 quickly leave the line to complain! Rightly so! Security get involved and talk to group 2 outside the line and 2 guys come into the queue to talk to group one. Obviously group 1 dont turn to them and say exactly what happened and worm their way out of it. Security dont ask anyone around them what happened and just tell group 1 off for smoking in the queue. I'm sorry, they should have been kicked out. Yes, group 2 should not queue jump. But buring someone's face?! That is awful. So we spent the next half hour hoping we wont get burnt before the maze gets shut because some one inside has been hit. I assume it was an actor. Security go in. 20 mins later it reopens. 10 mins after that it closes again. This time we were next in the queue so were chatting to the maze host we swore and shot off into the maze! After getting everyone out the maze and faffing for around 15mins they reopen. It was because someone was filming he maze. Let this be a lesson learnt. Dont try and secretly film, you'll get caught and hold up the whole line. Eventually we get in the maze and are disappointed with it. Actors not really caring. At one point an actor stopped us (I'm guessing to create a gap between us and the line infront) but just held her hand out to block the path and stood there. When we could go again she just said "ok keep moving" At least try and scare us or act or whatever. Everyone was just plodding along. Cainsaw guy was on top form though so give him everyone else's wages as a bonus!! Blair witch: Now I didnt personally go on this. 2 of our group abandoned Asylum to join a shorter queue when it closed temporarily. Aparently though they saw 3 actors throughout the whole walk, sadly that includes the actor in the queue line!! They were more than disappointed. Bloody Valentine: This was ok. Actors were good when we saw them, but were so spread out that it was like they were an endangered species and we were lucy that we saw a couple!! It did mean we could stroll along at our own pace and really look at the theming. We went into one of the "cabins" (where you got shut in during E10) and had a look around. Not sure what they looked like before as it was dark in E10 but I dont think they decorated them inside! To be honest, we wee probably not meant to just walk into one!! Overall what a disappointment. The atmosphere on park was awful. Maybe I'm a snob but putting fags out in peoples faces is an outrage. Even moreso is Thorpe not removing these losers from the park. Actors couldnt be bothered. This was clearly shown in Cabin when they'd rather chat than act. I'll never do fright nights on a friday again. I left Sunday thinking Alton Towers would stuggle to beat thorpe this year. I'm going to towers next week. To be honest, they'd struggle to be any worse than Thorpe last night. If I had paid to get in I'd have asked for a refund. 3 of my group are going to write letters of complaint. Sadly, they didnt come on Sunday so are not aware of how good this event can be. Not good thorpe. Sorry guys for that! I do go twice in a year to compare as they are always quite inconsistant in my opinion. This just backs it up. Plus, in all the years I've gone, yesterday was the worst. Ever.
  17. Not sure how naked people would make it more scary - unless they were super ugly or something
  18. Review for Sunday 13th! Will contain spoilers Firstly a cold, wet day put everyone off going, so it was as dead as a dodo all day! At around 2.45 we saw about 100 cars in the car par from The Swarm!! Theming all day was poor, however there was stuff inside the dome which was a nice touch. Apparently the Director does some acting in there at points throughout the day but no times were listed as to when he would be there so unless you sit in there all day I guess its just luck if you see it!! Saw Alive: Did this first, as each year I personally think its quite poor. It wasnt brilliant. Loads of actors inside but they didnt do much acting. One girl in particular was dressed as if she had just walked in off the streets and looked bored. To be honest my pet rock would have had more fun acting in there than she did!! Lighting in the maze was very low, which would have been a good thing, but link that with the amount of smoke in the maze meant you could see nothing. Theming in the maze is pretty good, but if you cant even see that it makes the maze super dull. I'm guessing most people on Sunday felt the same as at around 8 the queue was non existant. The Asylum: Always a good one, however the conga lines let it down as I had 2 totally different experiences. First time: Good, lengthy maze packed with actors. Easy to get lost in there and the actors play their roles very well. The new ending was amazing, the shower curtains really had us scared as we didnt know who would be behind them! However, we were at the front of the line and so this made it better. Those behind us didnt have a scare because they obviously saw the actor jump out from that place already. The chain saw guy was there, but due to the amount of people in the line we didnt get chased out by him as by the time we had left the maze half our line was still leaving. It was a shame, but the shower curtains made up for it because we got good scares from them! Avantage of being at the front is that when we caught up with the group infront we waited for them to move instead of joining their line. Second time: This time we were at the back, with a much shorter line. The shower curtains didnt have an effect on us sadly as we could see the actors jump out on the people infront, but the chain saw guy was able to pick on us and chase us out good and proper! Considering how quiet the park was they should ave kept numbers in the conga line at a minimum!! Or at least had a bigger gaps between sending the next line in. Hats off to the team running the maze though. At one point they had to shut it and turn all the lights on because someone had lost something. We were in the queue and one chap told us what was going on and when they had found it/given up looking he came around again to say it would take a further 5 mins to put people back in their places and turn all the lights off etc. Later found out the lost item was a hearing aid so hope they did find it!! Bloody Valentine: Actors in the queue line were fantastic. The rain certainly didnt put them off. Again though had 2 totally different experiences on this. First time around there were possibly only 3 actors in the entire maze. Therefore dissappointing for scares, but meant we could look at the scenery and in places it was very good. This time we went down the tunnel and got the only scare of the maze as an actor started walking up the tunnel towards us!! He did obvioulsy then back out so we could leave but he chased us out the room we ended up in. The ending of the maze though wasnt there. I can just remember walking out and thinking "that was it?!" The second time, the maze was packed with actors - scares all over the place. We didnt get to go down the tunnel, we went down the corridor. Shame. You could see all of the empty "rooms" you got shut in during E10 and just made me miss them. We were going to go in one just for laughs, but I'm guessing we were not allowed to because as I suggested it the man who had made us go down that route screamed and chased us out the corridor. Sadly, although the maze was packed of actors this time around, the ending still didnt happen. Not even sure there is meant to be an ending?! Again, hats off to the guys running this maze, whilst queing everyone had to be evacuated due to fire alarm going off. Ok, so there was a very small queue but it was handled very well. Cabin in the Woods: Went on this 5 times trying to get in the control room before being told it wasnt working and so they had locked the door! That aside, the maze was brilliant. Loads of actors, the door idea was genius, although I'm not sure it was working properly - are they meant to lock behind you? If so, this was not working and meant people could walk in behind you/you could walk into a room full of people. If this is not mean to be the case, I do feel it would work better if there was a locking system on the doors. All times through the maze the actors were fantastic. Very interactive with you and would work on what you said to them. For example, when asking an actor if we could get into the control room (the 5th time we felt we should just ask!) my friend said he would give her his soul in exchange. She stopped, stared at him and sniffed all around his neck before laughing and saying he wasnt worth it! ONe clown wanted a hug. She held her arms out and said hug me! We said that were were not allowed to touch her. She said "but I want a hug!" and got in a strop so we hugged her and she popped all of her balloons behind our back making us nearly poo our pants!! The guys in this maze really need to teach those in Saw alive how to act. Blair witch: People are slating this and I'm not sure why. Its a scare zone, not a maze. Its rated 2 stars on the map - its not meant to be super terrifying. It worked well for what it was meant to be. They didnt open it until 7 which annoyed people on he day but it did mean it was dark. The actors worked with this as they were wearing black and so could not be seen if they stood in the shadows. It also meant they could creep up on you and the first time you know they are there is when they shine a torch on their face right in front of yours. Maybe I had a good experience because the park was dead? Who knows. Only problem was the ending - no actor in the shed. So it meant we ended it feeling we had missed out on soemthing scary. I think blair witch over night camping would be very scary. Interesting to hear what people think of this (if anyone is doing it!) Roaming actors: All good. Couldnt fault them, espicially because it was chucking it dwon with rain and they obviously cant wear waterproofs!!! All in all good day out! Looking forward to going again on Friday and seeing how the two days compare!
  19. From what I can gather, you stay in the tent until 2am, then stay in the crash pad. Not sure if anyone has actully done it yet though!!
  20. Can you use merlin pass friend and family tickets during frightnights? Thorpe Parks tickets are only £10 at the moment :-D
  21. Spoilers ahead Spoilers ahead! Sorry, first post here and not sure how you put in your spoiler tags, someone can feel free to tell me so I can edit, or a team member can do it for me if you wish! But remember, Spoilers ahead! You have been warned! Sunday 14th Me and 3 friends from work went, and expected it to be heaving. To our delight, despite getting there at 11 the park was incredibly empty and we didnt have to queue to pick up annual pass tickets etc. Atmosphere during the day was good, mainly because the 3 people I was with had never been to fright nights before and were ridiculously excited! There were travellers on park all day though so every 2 seconds you had girls walking past you wearing little more than bra and pants!
