Are they doing an Annual Pass holders day this year? I think it was in 2011 when they did one, it was a disaster, with hardly any food outlets open and such long queues for everything!

I have to admit, I do prefer the

Yes. Oh well, whatever. But this news of Merlin possibly going on the stock market is interesting, it's about time they did. I know Merlin is huge, and a lot bigger than Tussauds was, but Tussauds was never on a market, correct?

Damn Google, listing them as "2 days ago"

I'm clued up because I take an interest in how things work, therefore I have the knowledge of the past, present and future. I'm always on the look-out for happenings and I'll find out as much as I can. Yes, I accept that other peoples opinions may differ from my own - of course that'g going to happen, this is a debate! There's a lot of people in general who are in such denial about the future of rides, they just don't want to admit the real truth! Try talking to some staff and technicians, you may actually learn something! Oh, I won't grow a pair thanks. I already have a pair.

Knowing Bose's technology, that's probably easier said than done.

I said yesterday I'm saying no more on it, and now I'm definitely not.

Typical media. This report says it's planning a floatation, whatever it means: http://www.insidermedia.com/insider/north-west/84318-merlin-entertainments-plans-float-report Then there's this report which says there are no plans in the near future for a floatation: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/feb/11/merlin-entertainment-flotation-halted You also have this which says a floatation was stopped last year: http://www.standard.co.uk/business/merlin-entertainments-still-keen-on-float-6386151.html

For some reason, and it's probably because of Apple software, but quoting on an iPad is far easier than on Windows. It goes back to the basic days of using the coding system, whereas on Windows, you delete sections of paragraph you don't want to quote and it goes corrupted.

Ricky, they're a self-service restaurant in Thorpe, they're bound to make them quicker!

One minute I hear it's the only one left in the world, the next I hear it's not. But frankly I don't give a damn. And it's unique to Europe, yes. I think a lot of people forget that mainly runs on compressed air. Also, Slammer's operating system is often out of date, I remember several years ago when I visited it didn't open until the afternoon because it was "online to America, recieving a software update, and it will be a couple of hours."

I'm not talking about the magnetic brakes, I'm talking about the LIM's in the station. Now who's a pillock. Let's get back on topic (and less offensive (yes, Benin and Mia-Louise)), and one main reason Slammer will stay is because it's the only sky swatter left in the world. It's unique, and you're not likely to find another ride of its kind anymore.
-
Think about what you've just said: If the park can't fulfil that criteria it is the parks fault, agreed - but then under no circumstances would H&S allow it to open and operate. If they did, they'd breach H&S and the park would be in trouble.
-
I think you need to brush up on your ride vocabulary. And I'm laughing at you because I know I am right. And enough of the troll business.
-
I understand you loud and clear. It is now clear to me that people on this forum want Slammer to stop working altogether and to close forever. There seems to be a hatred of this ride and for people to get rid of it as soon as possible. It's not going anywhere for the time being, it will still continue to operate, let's get over it. It's a minority of a ride that isn't around much any more, let's enjoy it and stop slagging it off. Bring them into this conversation and tell us what they know!!
-
Yes, it can actually. Excuse me?
-
Yes, something like that.

I'm not saying anyone's wrong. It's just a matter of opinion. And we all have different ones on this. As I say, I'm not debating this anymore.

Well until it got condemned back in 2008, it was in pretty good nick, yes. But obviously wear and tear took its toll, as did the weather. Erm...no. Theming and bringing thigns upto date is not always the main priority. H&S can stop a ride from opening. This goes back to what I said in the Slammer topic about people not understanding maintenance. Theme parks have a duty to identify hazards and make things safe. That comes before theming. In this case, taking Falls' rocks away was an H&S issue first on the list, before theming.
-
I do understand maintenance, and when did I say about accidents not happening? And in reply to everyone who disagrees with what I say; this topic will probably be placed in the archives in the future, and we may one day look back at it when Slammer is still there and working OK. Who wants to place a bet? I could be quids in! The MTDP from around 2004 didn't outline the removal of Fungle Safari, so other MTDP's won't outline the removal of any other ride. Ride maintenance and breakdowns are part of a ride's life. Black Bucaneer, Rameses, Ripsaw to name but a few. All had problems, all old, all still going today. Slammer is at the beginning of its life still. She's still warming up. I feel this debate has gone far enough, this is the last I shall be saying on it before it turns heated. I suggest people follow my example.

Merlin being sold off. Am I missing something? I saw in the paper yesterday about Merlin and stock markets, not quite sure of the full story of that. But as far as I'm aware Merlin are currently not selling anything or being taken over - am I correct?
-
Whoever believes a ride is going die at any moment then they clearly don't understand the maintenance side of it. Rides don't just drop dead, it's like cars, service and maintain them right and they'll keep going. Just like Slammer has been looked after.

Never gonna happen, putting rocks back in now would be a costly and ponitless task. #rocksarenotrollinganymore I think H&S inspections had found issues with the rocks safety. Let's remember, back in 2005 when it was changed, it was 18 years old, then in 2008 I think, Falls was condemned because the supports under the chute after the main drop (opposite Peeking Heights) were deemed unsafe, and they were modified or replaced. It's 26 years old this year and is still in good nick. It seems that people don't like changes at Chessington generally. Shame - things do change, for the better. People just can't seem to see that Chessington needs to be bought upto date in some areas, it has been so far to an extent but is forever ongoing at a very slow pace.

I have a stomach of steel, I can eat any amount and go on any ride and still feel fine later on. If anything, the parks mage me hungry. All that walking about and waiting is hungry and thirsty work, come rain or shine.
