The planning restrictions will end up killing Chessington in the end. Any theme park that can't even build new rides is pretty much screwed. I'll be surprised if the place is still running in 10 years time.
I know, right? Anyone who waits that long just to see some static props and ducks quacking at you must be insane.
There are very few rides in this country that are worth a 2 hour queue and the Bubbleworks definitely isn't one of them.
People are always complaining about Chessington, yet the same people end up going back the following month. Merlin isn't going to improve things unless the attendance starts dropping.
[insert obligatory Chessington hate comment here]
I rode the magic carpet once back in the 90's and absolutely HATED it. I honestly felt like I was going to fly out.
Probably my least enjoyable ride experience ever.
The electric guitar in the ride version is definitely different than the Graham/cassette one. It's clearer and has a much more sinister tone to it. The thunder sound effect after the 'rock' section is also missing.
Anyway back to the discussion about Bubbleworks.
Well the Vampire theme is seperated in to five main segments. Only the last two are actually the ride version. The first three are the same as the cassette one.
What's strange is that you can hear the ride version phase in right at the end of the third segment if you listen close enough. The difference in tone is definitely noticeable.
I'm pretty sure that all those cheesy laughing sound effects were added after the 2001 re-theme.
The Vampire theme that Graham Smart posted still isn't the ride version, but a mishmash of the two. Only about a third of that track is actually right.
That first track sounds like an 80's childrens cartoon lol. So happy and cheesy.
Too bad this ride was removed a year before my first visit. It looks more interesting and unique than the Terror Tomb it was replaced with. That guitar finale good god...
Does BPB have an entrance fee now or is it still ride tickets? I haven't been since 1997 so I don't know much about the place now.
Also, gotta love this Dragon Falls discussion.
The park keeps getting worse yet the attendance keeps going up. And as long as people still visit the place, Merlin will be in no hurry to replace theming.
The british public seems to settle for anything these days.
I hope the injuries sustained by the crash haven't completely ruined the victims lives. You put your safety in the parks hands and for them to let you down like this is awful.
Shocking.
The tomb blaster queue incident has made Chessington extremely paranoid about another lawsuit. Anything that's potentially 'unsafe' is being destroyed or removed. Pretty ridiculous really.
Destroying the crypt in the queue felt unnecessary to me.
Personally I think the vampire's ride area has become way too overgrown, it's like a jungle now. All the views to be had from the ride are now blocked by the dense layer of trees.
The ride was perfect back when I first rode it in 1995.
I've always thought that the bubbleworks felt out of place in the Transylvania area. I think the original idea of a brewery would have fit in much better.
But of course, advertising alcohol to children is the reason that was scrapped.
