Unless its anything like the previous times when everyone uses it and then you may be able to get on 2 maybe 3 of the coasters. However it could of course be like the times when people have enjoyed the system which is when no one uses it.

I don't think it's rush's cycle that is the problem. It's that it doesn't seem to be able to give a full swing. The arms never seem to go beyond 90 degrees anymore and when they do its only one swing.

I know I'm normally very against a lot of Merlin's decisions and the way they run the place. However they way they are handling this is very well. Not sure why Varney agreed to have an interview with sky but he did handle it very well. The media will always exaggerate and ask difficult questions(especially when that person has no knowledge of he subject and won't accept any answer than the one they are looking for).

Agreed. Stupid bit on their behalf, the person who posted it claimed he was unaware of the smiler incident at the time.

They did apologise for that tweet and did delete it almost instantly.

Or instead of luck it was a rushed, poorly engineered business investment which was executed poorly and run by staff who were following insufficient protocols. Then again like you said it could just be luck.

I was told by someone who was apparently at oakwood yesterday that it was closed.

Speed was closed yesterday however going by their twitter its opened again today.

It would seem from the H&S report that Gerstlauer have got someone over there assisting and Gerstlauer are cooperating in their investigations.

Is it not the case that the manual override for the lift hill is at the bottom of the lift where it is not possible to see the rest of the track.

I don't think you are allowed to operate a ride without all sections being able to be seen by the operator. I'm quite sure its a regulation they must meet before being allowed to open a ride. I would not be surprised if this comes down to miscommunication between the ride team and the engineers.

The daily mail do gain some credibility towards the end of the article. It's just the first half that is inaccurate rubbish which is insulting to call news.

Alton towers is closed tomorrow. The decision has been taken that Alton Towers theme park will not open tomorrow Wednesday 3rd June following the dreadful incident on The Smiler today. All guests with pre-booked tickets, or those who arrive at the theme park, will have the choice of either having their tickets revalidated for an alternative date or a full refund.
