  1. It will be a year of focusing on events to boost gate figures. Which can be good as it will benefit their image as a resort however I'm not sure its a long term solution. Yes it does need to be done but there should not be anything stopping them from doing events and a new ride.
  2. That cant have taken more than 5 minutes on movie maker.
  3. Rush has only just started its strip down.they would have had to work amazingly fast to get it ready. I also think that the other lost city flats are in a similar situation. The line is ok, not amazing but offers variety. Couldn't justify paying for that day. I may like stealth but with possible 1 train op I'm just not up for the traveling even if it was free.I understand it's difficult to get the staff, the rides in working order ect. but I'm a little disappointed in the whole event.
  4. I'm not saying merlin should be like six flags by any means. I was more giving an example that the gimmick seems to sell.
  5. Well they clear attract enough guests for six flags to keep doing it.
  6. I can see it being fun but I wouldn't like it as a permanent thing. Just for fright nights would be an interesting suggestion.
  7. They would have to turn the whole train around. Its very hard to do select rows. I did just say that as a scary thought. I didnt mean it to be a serious suggestion.
  8. Scary thought of the day. What if the reason nemesis inferno isnt in the feb half term line up is becuase its getting the backwards treatment like the six flags ones. Unlikely but could happen.
  9. No its because it breached trading standard regulations. The ones I mentioned and also a few minor ones. The ASA are the people which deal with them.
  10. You would need to see a full in depth break down of the numbers. I would not be surprised if 53k as an average was a best case scenario for year 1. I'm not saying that on the best day it will get 53,000 people I'm syaing that if all goes to plan and its as successful as they hope it will be then the average for year 1 will be 53k.
  11. Those predictions will have percent errors on them and they clearly do not expect those sorts of figures in the first few months. 53,000 people on average will more be around 2nd or 3rd year in summer. Its a rough guide which generally has to be overstated to encourage investment and increase the chances of gaining planning permission. See 53,000 as best case scenario. Its likely that the park will change the way things are done in the UK industry. It wont be as clear as some people make out but to say it will have no effect just seems highly unlikely.
  12. 53,000 people sounds pretty successful to me. Even half of that its still way higher than Thorpe. £30m on a low investment year, maybe not all on the theme park but that's still very high. Also with its large media coverage, perfect location, it would be hard for Paramount park to not be a serious competitor.
  13. People wont join a physical queue because they don't want to spend 2 hours of their time waiting for that so they spend their 2 hours on something else which they deem better. However virtual waiting means the 2 hour queue they didn't want to wait in is no longer spending their time. So those that would have passed on the idea will just wait virtually and spend their physical time on the stuff they deem better. Demand increases, supply stays the same, overall cost (time) goes up. Simple economics where time is money.
  14. To have RnR to work you need the infrastructure but the infrastructure can only come after RnR. Also what you need to consider is what happens if RnR fails for a day. You still need the queue lines in case the system doesn't work. So you are not able to replace the queue lines with shops ect. Future designs can compact the queues to small spaces and skip on the themeing as it would only be used on an odd occasion. So it would improve shop space but you cant just remove queues all together. Having written that compact queue seems to match the description of the dark ride pretty well. There is a time when RnR will help your day but the infrastructure needs to be there and you want to do a variety of rides. RnR creates the problem in that it devalues the time people will spend on waiting for a coaster as they are not waiting physically anymore. As a result you wont be able to do as many coasters anymore. The system favours you going to get on everything once. The way it works means its not friendly towards reriding rides that would normally have a long wait. All because people will wait longer virtually for a coaster than waiting physically.
  15. reduced it by 300-400 pph? that cant be right. Maybe down to 300-400pph but not dropped by that much. Mazes are hard to get high throughputs without ruining the experience.
  16. Now there is a reason it seemed to work on the swarm trials and that is because it was 1/5th of the people. I will admit that they should consider trailing it with no stand by queues on the 5 coasters on off peak to see the dynamics of what will happen in the summer. Trailing it on busy periods is a bit stupid as if it goes badly (like fright nights) it gets them a bad reputation.
  17. Scrap the stand by queue and then you have a serious in problem to do with physical space. That really would not work. If it was just the coasters then it may not be as bad but with all the rides your suggesting it would just result in mega queues for flats. People go to ride rides. Not wait in a shop for 5 hours so they can eventually get on a coaster.
  18. Its a very small price reduction as the the discount you are getting is off a higher price. Although I think ive made my opinion on RnR and Pizza & Pasta pretty clear so I wont bore you all explaining my points.
  19. Those wooden fences will have to come down at some point. They cant stay there all through construction.
  20. is that just the side walls that are always there?
  21. There will be things I don't know, but that doesn't solve the fact the whole system is broken. Also every point I raised is true. Maybe not to the magnitude I have stated or implied but those problems are still there. Also maybe they have invested to much to not make this work.
  22. Arh twitter the most official platform to convey a message. I'm sure every single guest would have seen the tweet saying that. If they only mentioned it via twitter then what did they expect. If there is an exploit people will use the exploit. If they think that a small bit of text is going to stop someone from saving massive amounts of their time then they really are stupid. RnR doesn't work, can never work. It was poorly executed on the trials, the staff don't know what it is, the guests don't know what it is. As a result those who did understand got a great day and now love the system despite there day was only good because it disadvantaged everyone else. Only 1 trail has even come close to how the system will work and that was the fright night saturday. To which everyone who used the system thought it was stupid as they had to wait 5 hours virtually (plus the physical wait) making it impossible to do all 5 mazes unless you cheated or waited for another maze while the system was in use.
  23. They have no way of seeing that nor is there anything in the RnR T&C's or the Parks T&C's. Its also not in the definition of queue jumping so Thorpe would struggle to find a valid reason. If they are to stop that then Thorpe will have to update their T&C's and the definition of queue jumping. Not only that but they would also have to make it so the system works by entering your bar code of your ticket on your account. However that would then mean they need 2 systems so it can allow the much longer MAP barcodes in which in turn opens an exploit as the MAP barcodes follow a pattern so finding the next code would be easy and then your back to square one. Its a system where this exploit will always exist with no easy solution.
  24. I'm agreeing with you. The non smartphone owner argument is invalid.
  25. No I More meant it that the argument of not everyone has one seems a little invalid. Also scarycoasterboy you have just made those figures up. Where as my statements are based of therotical scenarios and then used maths to get the following figures. Making up numbers to prove a point succeeds in nothing.
