  1. Its cool they are aiming to have so many attractions this year, it should hopefully make the mazes a little less stressed when it comes to queues. My only issue is the quality in the lineup.. The only maze that really interests me is Platform at night.. The rest of them (bar LN) don't interest me in the slightest.. I think its also kinda dumb that we have another outside attraction.. If in a secluded area like Tulleys then having outdoor elements is fine, but in a very compact theme park such as Thorpe it kinda spoils the atmosphere.. It also kinda worries me how last minute this event seems.. It seems like they just cropped up some attractions in a very short amount of time.. Like they just announced this.. Passholder Preview is a week or so away.. Overall its cool they plan to open so many attractions, but more doesn't always mean better..
  2. If I'm being honest I don't there will be any more announcements.. If there was I think it would of happened by now.. If we're lucky maybe they'll announce a new fastrack package or two..
  3. I really hope next year they consider adding more indoor mazes, the lineup this year I think will be struggle due to the fact most of the mazes will be crap when its not dark. Platform, Blair and Sanctum V2 are probably gonna be terrible before it gets dark, that could perhaps make the queues for the indoor mazes longer during the daytime hours.. Which for most nights the sun won't go down until 7.. This I think could cause longer queues and more pressure on Saw, LN, and Vulcan.. And FN isn't exactly known for being a event with short queues..
  4. Can't wait for those 2 new themed fastrack booths to be announced!
  5. I think a dungeon style attraction wouldn't work at Chessie due to their primary target market being families and kids, I think Alton or Thorpe are much more fitting candidates. I think whatever they decide to do with the building will be better than Hocus Pocus in its current state.. Hopefully Tomb Blaster is next..
  6. Looks fab! Sure gonna miss some of the tacky (in a good way) theming that Eurosat had, but its nice to see the station and ride now looking so modern and sexy! I'm getting my lazy a** back to Rust ASAP!
  7. 20 for MAP? 10 quid was bad in recent years.. Are they having a laugh? For 22 quid I could go to Screamland and have 7 mazes, the hell? I know Scarefest charges around 20+ quid for their 4, but those 4 mazes are all pretty long and usually are of a high standard that blows most of Thorpe's efforts to dust. With the stupidly long queues and the lack of a headlining maze, I might just go to Screamland.. It will roughly cost the same anyway..
  8. I have to say I have very low expectations for Vulcan Peak, hooded mazes (bar Molly Crowe) usually are crap and I'm guessing they're just gonna set up a rope for the layout and do nothing else to the building.. Hellements and Molly relied on the floor elevation and special effects, I'm guessing Vulcan will lack this completely making it even worse than Dull-ements. Living Nightmare and Platform are the only things drawing me back this year, hopefully they prove me wrong with Vulcan Peak..
  9. The lineup looks okay I guess.. Blair Witch will probably be lukewarmly good but fairly tame as it was in 2014/2015. Do Or Die probably is gonna be Sanctum but a little bit better. Vulcan Peak doesn't excite me in the slightest as hooded mazes usually are very hard things to get right and I don't think they can pull it off. The scarezones seem like fun though.
  10. So all 7 mazes have been revealed, I hope this will be a stronger year for the event! Dead and Breakfast, Festino, and their mirror maze are the only things returning. With that said if last year was anything to judge by most of time the event completely changes mazes, Festino last year was a complete different maze to its much better 2016 incarnation. I'm hoping Festino and Dead And Breakfast get drastic changes as I thought last year they were both awful. When it comes to new, we have Tunnels of Terror which is probably gonna be where The Final Cut was? We also have a interesting shipwreck themed maze, if it done right it sounds like fun! Another a new attraction is called 'The Upside Down' which apparently will be under the treetop bar and will have a strange but original parallel universe theme.. I'm not kidding one bit.. The most interesting and scary looking new maze comes in 'Dreamland Sleep Experiment', a maze that reminds me of the haunted stories that came from the russian sleep experiment, it also kinda gives me Paradise Foundation vibes a little.. Which can only be a great thing, I expect to walk out of it at a fast pace! Despite my panning of it last year, I think Screamland sounds great this year! Even if the mazes are crap they have some great flats now so if I get time I will certainly try to get down to Margate for October.
  11. I would love to agree with you but the reality is there is no construction to suggest we're getting any more mazes. The event is a month away now and if we were to receive any more mazes we probably would of seen something by now.. Thorpe when they said 'mazes' probably was including experiences such as the cinema, actors in TWD, zones, ect. Zones for sure are a good thing when done right, but Thorpe has a history of getting them seriously wrong, so we can only hope it isn't just a few smoke machines and actors screaming "boo".

  13. Maybe they tried to market Blair Witch but realised a un-themed woodland and a tacky shed wouldn't quite draw in the crowds.. To compromise they showed the only good maze left and two attractions that remind of us when the event wasn't looking like a mess.

    Your Thorpe Park

What I'd do: Give Saw and Colossus new lap bar restraints and give them both some TLC Gerstlauer Sky Fly in Slammer's place Add a intertwining Intamin Log Flume and RMC Woodie in Logger's Leaps space. The Walking Dead reverted back to X
  15. Some unpopular-ish opinions ready for Halloween The Sanctuary was a mediocre maze and the finale was one of the worst things to grace the industry.. A lacklustre strobe finale with barely any actors, even worse when TOTT was right next to it (has a similar finale but unlike The Sanctuary the finale was actually fun) The Cabin In The Woods in 2015/2016 was one of the worst mazes in Thorpe's history, thank god they scrapped it. Scarefest 2015 and onwards has been consistently better than FN in every way and it seems 2018 will be no different. I want FN to adopt the Scarefest style time slot system
  16. I think Thorpe might just be pulling our leg here.. I think we'll probably only get 1-2 more maze announcements, which will probably be Sanctum and Blair. 6 mazes would be awesome but Thorpe are tight on space as it is, 6 more to the already confirmed 4 mazes would be stupidly unrealistic right? I think it could be possible to see a few crappy half-arsed scare zones or perhaps a few more actors in the boring dead pop up, but other that I doubt we will see a large scale maze announced, if it was to happen we would of seen some sign of construction? The only possible location I can think of is TBT's spot and the yellow markers, but I'm adamant thats gonna be a sanctum relocation tbh.. Honestly if we do get 6 new attractions it would probably be a bad thing at this point anyway as we haven't seen much construction on any of these attractions so they will probably be very rushed to be built, with the budget and current actor-crisis it would probably mean the theming would be sparse in all 6 likewise to the actors..
  17. Well at least BPB has coasters with airtime.. Thats more than any UK Merlin park can say..
  18. The lineup is pretty obvious tbh. Fright Nights 2018: Bore Alive: Do you like drab and dated mazes that have a million broken effects? Blair (Why is this back) Witch?: Its not terrible but its painfully mediocre. Plonked shipping containers and a few actors: Just as bad as it sounds. A good maze with a terribly paced bore of a finale: The only reason to come. A maze that is pretty decent but lasts two seconds: Its better than nothing. Plus.. A escape room that will leave you half asleep.
  19. I think Asylum returning is highly unlikely considering IAC and the nutters who are offended by everything. The Blair Witch space also seems to be all ready and set up which leads me to believe that Blair Witch has a 99% chance of being the 'classic maze'. I think Sanctum occupying the Big Top spot is another a bad decision, Sanctum was kinda isolated in its location near Swarm which helped the atmosphere, now if its going next to Zodiac then the maze will probably lose any atmosphere it had last year.. Sure the muddiness was unpleasant but now the maze will probably have its atmosphere completely ruined by the location being out in the open. They could of perhaps put temporary flooring in to fix that issue anyway, if they don't change the attraction drastically it will probably be even more dire than last year if it is put in that location. If Thorpe confirm Blair is replacing Big Top I think I might just lose all hope for the event this year.
  20. Overall I think this will be a fun addition to do in between the mazes, sure the advertising was a tad misleading, but this is also looks like fun! If its a good show then I think it will be a great addition for the event, I understand its not what we were expecting, but I don't understand the moaning.
  21. I think what WWTPRadio said a page back or two really sums up what to expect this year.. The team that did 2016/2017 are long gone, the team that spruced up Big Top and made it amazing, the team that the following year revamped Platform to be another strong attraction.. Sure that team had a few slips up, Platform in 2016 was terrible, Sanctum was probably a last minute job, but when they came up good, it was mazes that perhaps were some of the best in FN history. I'm guessing Big Top has a slim chance of returning in the same strong form (if it returns at all) this year, I see Blair Witch being the main 'new' thing.. I'm concerned this will be the worst FN yet.. Hopefully Thorpe proves me wrong..
  22. Blair Witch returning is perhaps the most odd, uncalled for, and weirdest decision for Fright Nights in absolute years.. Blair Witch wasn't a terrible attraction, but with Platform and Sanctum both being outside now, I bet it will be completely redundant.. If Big Top goes I think the team behind Fright Night needs to do a drug test asap. Tis a shame, things were kinda looking up last year, sure they had the IP's, but you had Platform and Big Top that both held their own.
  23. The Big Top is easily the most well paced, well designed, and most popular maze at the event for the past two years, if it bites the dust I will not even make the effort to come to Fright Night! Thorpe getting rid of Big Top would be like Tulleys removing the Hayride! Stupid
  24. I think it would a terrible move to get rid of Big Top, it is easily the most fun maze at the event and I think the maze is nowhere near the end of its life-span. The Big Top has been the shining light in the lineup in the past two years, to remove it would probably make me consider visiting at all. I have to say I noticed a lack of construction on the Big Top site which does concern me, hopefully it does return.. When you have Saw Alive, Sanctum and Containment, it would be shocking for one of the most popular mazes in Fright Night's history to get axed.. As the post above said, if Big Top goes honestly I might just live at Tulleys this year..
  25. The website has added more info on the changes in both The Colony and The Cellar. This leads me to believe that there is going to be a lot gas masks and fog in The Colony this year, other than that it probably won't be too different. I'm hoping they introduce a new finale that will revolve around the 'toxic gas' idea so we don't get the chainsaw cop-out again, but I doubt it. I would be surprised if they actually extend it, its long enough as it is! I'm hoping this means The Cellar gets some TLC some season, it somewhat was hit/miss last year and I think its about time we saw a few changes. I doubt its going to get much of a extension but hopefully they change around the rooms a little too spice things up a little. Maybe the cage from last year was hinting more to this?
