  1. Completely agree but for the life of me I cannot remember when Merlin have refurbished/spruced up an entire area, I could be very wrong though. It definitely needs some TLC otherwise it'll soon be given a new theme concept, an "abandoned" secret government facility :)

  2. The ride with the most sponsorship rape is definitely Bubbleworks really!

Mmmm I'm not sure tbh, I guess I think that the bubble works sponsor isn't as bad because it still is in keeping with the crucial theme; a crazy cartoon like factory line. Oblivion is now the secret government facility with a fizzy drink :) .
  3. *cringe* well I really do think that this ride sponsorship takes the crown from an previously disastrous sponsors IMO. If they stopped at painting the pipes and stuff orange and just replaced the coke branding with fanta then that would be fine.

  4. I thought putting the ads on the ride entrance was too far, but the air gates? Wooow. What's next? The steam vapour on the entrance to the tunnel becomes real fanta? :) Not gonna lie I'd try and taste it!

  5. I think James has a very fair point - the amount of the fricking time people run down the stairs either onto the platform, into the path of an oncoming train or across the track. Fortunately they've got the set apart exits now but it's not easy at all.The trains would be a lot faster if it didn't stop twice but think of the massive stress that would be put onto both the brake fins and the brake plates themselves. Massive problems would eminate!

Fair point but what about the wear and tear on the mechanism for operating the brakes by stopping the train twice? It could work both ways unfortunately. I know it will make very little difference but I guess it's just another way of looking at it.Maybe just using the brakes once to do the main job of slowing it down to a stop then releasing to let the train move into into position and then stopping the train for loading/unloading? Not sure how easy it would be though, don't know if you would need sensors moved or if it's just a PLC update. :P
  6. Great ride but hate photo always hard to get a good one

A good on ride photo is when you don't look good :) Also, I really like the on ride photo position, looks like a very good place to get the funny facial expressions!
  7. Just thinking out loud here. The theming on paper does look immense and with the initial budget it has right now, I'm hopeful. But just thinking about the concept of "Urban Devastation", it didn't really lend itself to a story line. What I mean is, some other rides have a story line which justify/explain the journey that the ride takes you on:

    • Nemesis - the track is used to restrain the Monster they found.
    • Stealth - race track
    • Rita in the dark forest - escaping the curse (only to do several turns back on yourself and return to the exact same place, genius :) )
    • Saw The Ride - jigsaw testing to see if you deserve to live.
Ideas for a storyline? I mean it's not like they can say we are the passengers aboard the plane that crashes on the first drop... Short ride :( and I'm not an expert on plane crashes (just alot of air crash investigation viewing) but I'm pretty sure if you've crashed in a Boeing, they don't then bounce up into a zero G and then into a helix. Just saying.
  8. People might have thought that the ride has been wrongly advertised and what not (admittedly, even the tv ad makes it looks like a ZOMG BONKERS THRILL) but the general public seem happy with it; again, another unique world first for them.At the end of the day, we shoulda seen it coming right from the get go when we saw the ride specs during construction that they where building it using the Intamin Family Coaster type. But also, maybe their reasons for using that ride type is the secret element could only be installed on that type, considering any budgets they had etc. It might have been a shed load more expensive to use maybe a mega-lite and install the element into it. Plus, the whole travelling backwards part, maybe the trains are far more suited for this section as well as travelling forward.

  9. I completely understand this thing with natalia. I love both Mirrors and Zombie but the only other song on her album I think I can see myself liking is Not in love. The rest just don't appeal to me.The song I have on replay alot right now is Bright Lights Bigger City - Cee Lo Green: good mix of synth pop with a jazz/soul spin on it.

  10. I have the issue with free ankles, X and X2 made me feel really unsafe because the lack of angle restraints make your legs fly everywhere - painful, not fun.Buuuuut, hopefully this will be different! ;)

I see where you're coming from; maybe the fact you were being spun here, there and everywhere had something to do with that?
  11. In all fairness with the leaks, I doubt very much that it is "theming". At the end of the day, it is a second hand ride and if you've stood beneath any moderately old water chute ride at a water park, you will know that they drip quite abit. But if it really is for theming? I'll be lost for words.

  12. I dont really like the station, it looks like it needs to be inside a building like Tidal Wave, dont know why?

Because the station is basically a concrete block with fences and a control booth... But hey, if people are saying that it looks moderately better in person then we'll have to wait and see.
