  1. Can’t see a chance of making march 24th personally. The Immelmann isn’t yet complete, think that will be most of next week gone to do that, then there’s the lift and first drop to construct which is a mammoth structure and connect and complete the dive loop which interacts with the drop and lift structures. 4 weeks is optimistic for that I would say. That puts us into mid feb. There’s all the mechanical and electrical install for the lift hill and brake runs to be completed before any testing can commence, therefore I would say any testing before start of March is more than optimistic. on top of this, there’s all of the landscaping and reinstating of the lake, therefore I see a late April or early May as a more realistic possibility.
  2. I can’t see track completion prior to end of February. Will take a good few weeks to fully assemble that massive structure for the first drop and we still have the Immelmann and dive loop to link which I think will be end of next week absolute best. Then there’s all the mechanical and electrical installation and so I doubt a test is realistic until early march at best. I therefore see the ride opening in May. But that’s just my take. id agree about the construction ebbing and flowing. Although time of the year, heights and complexity of the structures all take their toll on a project of this size.
  3. Apologies, didn’t see those topics. Thought that something of this magnitude would have been spoken about previously. Was this land ever owned by Merlin? I’m guessing not, as surely the security of not having risk of planning complaints would have outweighed the revenue generated from selling a fairly small parcel of land albeit with development opportunities. I guess you’re right about the staff area being between, although I’m sure things could have been configured to optimise the land differently. It’s all irrelevant now of course as the area is due for redevelopment into the retirement complex. I suppose we will just have to watch this space on what it means for the park moving forwards, but I do sense that it will certainly make things more complex from a noise and height perspective in the future. Thorpe get that noisy RMC in quick 😂😂
  4. Feel like there is risk on the horizon for the future expansion or continued development of large scale attractions on the horizon for Thorpe park. Also think Merlin have missed a big opportunity, but may be missing something, so feel free to correct me. Seems the old Cemex offices have been sold and purchased by a property developer that is converting them to a care home facility and assisted living complex. Hardly ideal having such a complex located next to a theme park for noise etc. really feel that this will form rejections incoming for future planning applications, especially on the Northen side of the park, island behind stealth etc. However looking at the plans also a massive missed opportunity. Could have made a fantastic park hotel, and would have allowed future expansion on the north side of the park at a great distance from any neighbours. Just hope this doesn’t come back to bite the park.
  5. Really don’t see the point in heavily theming a ride that you’re either 200ft in the air or flying by at 80mph. Save the pennies for the next one instead 😏
  6. Am I the only one that actually likes the fact it turns white at different points? Think it breaks it up from looking too basic personally. Guess a fade would have looked better though.
  7. Great choice in my opinion. Nice and vibrant, and will tie it in well with amity next door. Looks fantastic
  8. Honestly think we will have one of the best elements in Europe with that outerbanked turn / dive. It looks insane from some angles
  9. I have to be honest. I thought it would look horrendous. But I actually really like it now it’s going in.
  10. They went for a staggered option instead of a gradual fade. If you watch the POV, you’ll see it’s the same in there.
  11. Anything is possible… just possibly not at a price Thorpe would be willing to pay. However looking at the second turnaround tower I would say that this has been in the planning for a while as the white sections are staggered, and I can’t see that this could or would have been accidental. Interesting creative choice IMO, see how it turns out. Either way, this is going to be a beast on the skyline!
  12. Amazing how fast this is going up!! I’m terms of volume of supports, probably not far off the entire amount for stealth already up!
  13. Imagine that lit up with some desert floods for FN next year. 😮‍💨
  14. Coming along so quickly. I can see the turnaround being complete by the end of next week at this rate!
  15. Seen a couple of photos over on X showing it rise into the sky with white supports. Looks massive already and has a fair bit of height left to go!! Going to be imposing on the skyline for sure
  16. I’m 100% all in for feel good thrills. One thing I love about hyperia is that the theme isn’t dark. Really think Thorpe moving in a more uplifting direction is a massive positive
  17. Looking at silkstones update there’s 4 pieces of track delivered, guess there’s going to be an awful lot of deliveries to deliver all those pieces!! Looks like they’re being stored on the land next to the car park
  18. There’s some aerial shots that have been posted on Instagram of the site. Looks to be all but complete footer wise, maybe 20 left in some various stages of completion. Also looks like there’s an access route prepared to reach the back of the site, so I would say not far off going vertical at all now.
  19. There will be a significant amount of white supports because of the size of the big three main structures which dominate the skyline. Key is having the gold supports at the site for the first sections which sounds like they are there and marked up. Also looks like good progress on the groundwork’s front with the turnaround out the station etc
  20. Anyone here lucky enough to walk the supports yesterday?
  21. Yeah definitely is the slowest part, although I do feel that given the scale of the ride and the complexity of some of those support structures compared to the likes of swarm, this one will take a lot longer to assemble!
  22. Ahhh skiing! Now it all makes sense! I was starting to think of some sort of mountain reference for the theme that wasn’t needed at all!! Still no vertical construction on either track or ride buildings so I guess all previous rumours were wrong. Feels like this stage is really dragging now!
  23. Something makes me uneasy with the drill being back on site… let’s hope nothing is out of position 😬😬
  24. Few points 1. Most recent JS update (filmed last Tuesday) clearly showing the increasing volume of supports on the island… also interesting that they are arranged with numbers, also suggesting the order they will be brought to the construction site for erection. 2. JS also stating that site manager has stated mid -end of September for ride supports going vertical which takes this week and next week out of it, and thus the vertical element being spoken about must be either ride station or maintenance hub. 3. From the 2 points above, clear deviation from the original plan in terms of site priorities which makes it difficult to track actual progress against the plan. Hunch says behind by 4-6 weeks based on it, however the station/maintenance is ahead which may allow the systems install to stay on plan. Concious all of the above very boring points, but interesting at the same time 😂
