Where are you going?
That's happening no longer I'm afraid....

Oblivion
I personally prefer Oblivion, the fall feels far more forceful and it feels like a longer drop. Saw's is over to quickly and well bloody hurts.

Alton Towers General Discussion
Nah it can't run with 8 cars. I know a few of the Spinball op's and they say its for the same reason as Oblivion, Fury and Rattlesnake.

Alton Towers Hotel
It does.. It's weird but I've stayed at the hotels every year since 2005 and always have a fantastic time. As a driver it's also lovely knowing you don't have to do the drive up and down in one day but rest overnight.Definitly worth staying in.. especially for the Alton Towers hotel lift.

You may not, other people do.

Chessington General Discussion
Chessington is more like Alton Towers in that it takes a while for certain rides to build up, whilst others will have a long queue from the word go.I've always suggested that if you do not get to the park straight away do not even bother with Dragons Fury as everyone who comes through South Admissions pours straight away into Fury's queue meaning it can get up to a 60 minute queue almost immediately. Instead in the first two hours Runaway Train, Dragon Falls, Tomb Blaster, Rattlesnake, Billy's Whizzer, Black Bucaneer and Safari Skyway will still be relatively empty as the majority of people are stuck in Dragons Fury, Vampire and Bubbleworks queues. At around 1 all those rides I suggested will be incredibly busy whereas Fury queue especially will go down a lot, sometimes down to a 15 minute queue. If you are planning a trip for August, the park has been very busy of late so here are some average queue times Dragons Fury 60-80 MinutesVampire 50-70 MinutesBubbleworks - 40 MinutesRunaway Train 30-60 MinutesTomb Blaster 40-70 MinutesDragon Falls 70 MinutesDodgems 40 MinutesRattlesnake 30-40 MinutesSkyway 30 MinutesA few other things. Annual pass holders can use the Express Pass queueline between 5-6pm but often the queue for this on Vampire and Fury is very long. Dragon Falls has also had some technical problems recently and has opened at about 2pm for the last few days.

Chessington General Discussion
I actually found it slower going to Surbiton depending on the train you end up catching.Clapham -(25 Min train journey) Cwoa South (10 min walk) Chessington WOA takes about 35 minutesClapham - (10 Min train journey if Alton train)) Wait for Bus at Surbiton (Anything from 1-10 Minutes) - 20-25 Minute bus journey depending how busy the bus and roads are.The more direct route is to Chessington South.

Opening Times
So in that case... aren't they open at the moment for the same reason... (and not all rides may be available... just like Thrill Chill).
-
Opening Times
That's very unlikely as Thrill Chill got such low gate figures at times that they would barely even break even...
-
Alton Towers General Discussion
If its anything like Fury or Rattlesnake, it could never ever run with all 8 cars as there isn't enough room in the break sections and station for all 8 cars.

Closed Rides
LOLSo far this August Slammer, Nemesis Inferno, Tidal Wave and Stealth have been down...So not just Rush
-
Stealth
Hardly... the thing with most of the "not-we" is that they just go to the biggest rides and queue however long it takes (look at how this year, Saw and Colossus are packed early whilst Inferno and Stealth are empty for the first hour or so). This may be despite other rides having no queues at all.

Runaway Mine Train
The Mine Train is sheer class, easily one of Alton Tower's best rides. It has a fun factor that the other powered rides in the country don't have and I really really love the way that as you go through the Rapids tunnel everyone waves at each other. The ride ops are also in my opinion the best team in the whole of the Merlin group. Always happy, always interactive and they always make it a pleasure to go on their ride.

Tidal Wave
Ummm... "Shirts and shoes must be worn for the duration of the ride" UMMM BAD THEMEPARKMAD!

Quantum
Well basically, Quantum used to have carpet ends on its sides. Around May 2004 it was found the ends had cracks all in them so they were removed. At this time Settings 3 and 4 were still allowed to be used and with less weight on the carpet the ride would really fly as it went round and round. Unfortunately the ride had an over-speed warning so when it was on setting 3 and 4 the carpet went to fast and it would cut out, sometimes in awkward positions. It was decided to limit the ride to settings 1 and 2 which are far less intense. Sometimes Quantum may overcome it and be slightly intense but never to 2004 June standard where the ride far outclassed Colossus, Samurai and even Detonator.
-
Quantum
Well it is different, it is on a lower setting, and the ride has changed. It has nothing to do with Thorpe adding more intense rides since 2003.

Dragon's Fury
There's a few reasons really.1. If they are tall their head won't be supported by the headrest.2. If they have long legs the bar might not go down the required three clicks.3. It's a very tight squeeze for most guests but for tall guests it may be very uncomfortable. The Maximum height restriction isn't as strict as the minimum restriction because the staff explain to guests all the above when they get in the car.

Has Anyone Had A Close Shave?
It's not just chavvy guests. It can be dads, mums, young children, grandads and grandmotheres. I take my phone, keys, and my wallet on all rides. Doesn't make me a chav.

Opening Times
Park was empty, all rides were running and they had even added Flying Fish to the ride line-up.
-
Detonator
But they are entertaining the guests. Themeparkmad and you seem to be the only ones with a problem with this. Detonator by it's very nature is one of the only rides at Thorpe where the operator can have fun with the guests. Keeping them up longer, teasing them, pretending the ride has broken down creates a level of interaction that very few rides at Thorpe allow. As T0M has already said, the queue was below 10 minutes anyway and I'm sure the people in the queue thought it was funny that people were coming off the ride even more scared then usual.

Opening Times
You see that is the odd thing as my Thrill Chill trips have been my favourite trips of the year. I know the opening day was far from perfect, hence why I chose to visit a week later when the park was actually ready to go.I'm just hoping that if they have scrapped Thrill Chill that all rides will be ready to go come next years open day.
-
Quantum
Quantum still has a bit of a kick but it's so rare these days that it does feel like a lot of effort to go on it. Shame really, 5 years ago it was defintily up there with Detonator and Colossus as the best rides on park.

In what way is it a waste of time?
