  1. Fright Nights 2019 - Spoilers

Went back tonight, some more reflections based on more reasonable experiences: Creek Freak Massacre Already, some effects are broken, and some aren't as effective. Pre show seemed to have a louder backing track (making it harder to hear) and dimmer (making it harder to see). I think the maze is a bit marmite and a bit hit and miss. But personally, I don't think it's really my thing. It's good fun, and miles ahead of the other 4 mazes though. Blair Witch Somehow felt darker and more secluded now, which was great. But also the queue seems to move very slowly and I still can't quite work out why. Do or Die As expected, this has changed significantly from press night, and really suffers. The first container scene is okay I guess, but the rest of the maze really is a mess. Platform 15 / Living Nightmare Both mazes still pretty weak this year sadly. Amity High Still very good; actors have great energy. Wasn't being performed every 20 minutes tonight though because of how quiet it is. This evening was very quiet, and there definitely seemed to be minimal actors in the mazes. Disappointing, but perhaps not wholly surprising either. I still fear how the park, and quality of mazes, will cope on busy days. But hey, at least they've made steps in the right direction.

So the Demon at the end is now some guy that looks like a vampire or something. Amazing. Have to say, having staff walkie talkies so loud that you can hear them over the ride audio REALLY adds to the immersive experience. On a plus note, I've finally realised that the headset actually has to be put on like a cap of sorts for it to fit properly. Also, second headset had green laser sparkles going on, so kinda killed the effect a bit. Got the old lady at the start this time instead of the homeless guy.
  3. The Six Flags Thread

The main problem I have with this if it does happen is I find Six Flags parks to be utterly soulless, commercialised to high hell and corporate. Half the reason Cedar Point is so far ahead of every park I’ve visited is because it has charm to it. It has a rich history and even though it belongs to a chain, does not have an overly corperate feel to it whatsoever. Six Flags get their hands on it and that charm will possibly disappear in a flash. The other factor as to why Cedar Point is ran as well as it has been is down to the fact it is Cedar Fairs cashcow and the flagship park. Under a Six Flags ownership, it will only be playing second fiddle to Magic Mountain. The other issue is that a takeover or even a merge would kill one of the greatest amusement park rivalries in the world right now and with that, Six Flags will have monopolised the thrill park industry in America and the states will be left in a relatively similar state to what the U.K is going through with M£rlin right now and that’s a lack of competition. Yes Disney and Universal are also a thing in America obviously, but Six Flags and Cedar Fair cater to an entirely different audience to those two chains. So any sort of deal between Cedar Fair and Six Flags could be a complete disaster for the industry especially in the states.
