^^ Exactly. I've had this debate before about Valentines Day, but the argument against mine was that some people are busy and don't always have the chance/time. I guess if you don't see a lot of your mum it's a nice idea, but then why make a day for it? It puts pressure on people, and I'll bet there's lots who say "Let's do Mothers Day next Sunday" as the dedicated weekend is a bad time for whatever reason. My mum isn't too fussed about it, although that may be because she knows how broke me and my brother are to buy anything, or even a card But that's another point - kind of like what Holly was saying, it's just advertising and a way to make money. You could give your mum a lovely day just looking after her and not "buying" her a nice day (I made my mum a card last year). Yes yes businesses etc have to make money...I guess the issue I have is the assumption from others that you've spent money. "So what did you buy for/do for your mum then?" Grr.
  2. I'm going to the meal, hotel and meet ;)7 (or any time later) is fine by me

Really? Aww that sucks. Bit of a silly question but you had a proper staff locker with a key? Just that I can't believe a staff member would force their way into someone's locker! As far as I know it never happened when I worked there. People these days...

One final reply:Thank you Benin, Ryan and JoshC. The number of times on here (and also Facebook) I don't seem to be allowed my own opinion is ridiculous. Really doesn't help my already low confidence! ;)I am well aware of what has happened in Japan and how worse things could be. But that does not stop me thinking how much better things could be. All me and my family seem to have is bad luck, all I seem to do is struggle with people or life. And as I already said, I am struggling with depression at the moment. I don't have the energy to explain what it feels like, but there is no postivity at all. End of, and well done to a certain someone for getting us into a situation that lead the thread to be locked. Very mature.

Yeah well this is a RANT thread. Deal with it.Oh and when you have clinical depression, which I am battling with at the moment, it's bloody hard to be positive. Bear that in mind kthnx.

Yes they are. They let you down, confuse you, different people give different advice, they give you nasty surprises, upset you, hurt you...ugh the list is endless!

Hmm not having a good day. Feel awful, nearly as bad as I did not long ago Can't be bothered anymore, money is tight, and life just seems like one big letdown. If I quit college it would take a lot of pressure off, but then I'll probably look stupid or weak for not being able to cope with it, twice. I'd feel like I'm letting my family and friends down, even though my family understand the difficulties I have. I would happily work full time at the cattery but as far as I know they don't need anyone full time. I hate having nothing to do all week, but college 9-5 everyday plus a s*** load of work is too much. Hence why I'd love to work full time, the shifts are only 4 hours a day, which is perfect for me!Since I started getting free college bus tickets I gave half of my ALG every week to my mum. She just about managed without it but I still worry about if I leave college. Meanwhile she lost her job due to cuts, she may have a new one soon at another nursery but if she doesn't, it's a big issue. Not just money wise (although her housing benefit etc will increase) but it could affect her mental health and she could go really downhill. And to to top it all off, in a typical girly style, I now kinda have a man problem. Nothing serious, just basically he messaged me first (on Facebook, but we've not added each other yet) saying I look stunning I replied, he replied with more lovely compliments, not the usual guy stuff like using the words sexy, hot, but saying I was gorgeous, beautiful...I replied on Thursday and haven't heard since. Obviously I'm aware this is just a few messages and I am trying not to get too affected by it. But it really cheered me up and made me feel so great about myself and he does actually seem like a decent, honest guy. I know it's not the end of the world and there are plenty of acceptable reasons for him not replying yet, but still. It's only natural to feel a bit crap over it.
  11. Oh hell yeah, TPM's hottest fanboy right there!

Arrgh there is nothing more annoying/exciting/nerve-wracking than waiting for someone to reply! And what can beat that "fuzzy" big grin feeling when someone sends you a heart-warming compliment? ;)Ahaha I really should calm down, it's just a Facebook message, I don't want to assume anything yet, and I don't want to jinx it!*Heavy sigh*EDIT: Had a reply Omg omg omg I feel like a bloody teenager!

How have so many people on here met all these people?! And when people say met, do they mean they actually spoke to them, or just saw them? Cos I really don't get how you've all properly met so many of these people! Working at theme parks I can understand, but when celebs came to Thorpe I never saw or met them (apart from seeing David Gest at the Vortex exit, he was talking to the operator). But what I REALLY want to know is...how Dan met David Tennant! JEALOUS!!
  15. Can't wait for this meet, it's gonna be awesome!I'm glad it's on a weekday too, as it is a heck of a lot easier for people to travel. Sundays are a b****. The hotel the night before should be fun times

Everyone stop moaning about Thorpe's abysmal AP Day. That was yesterday. Today is a new day.Make the most of life, don't dwell on crap in the past, live life to the fullest!
  17. I'm sorry to hear about that :DJust pasting what I said on the Thorpe Park Official Facebbok page earlier:There are other ways to prevent the system being abused, such as being stricter on what counts as a disability that prevents the person from queueing, or prevents them understanding the concept. Cutting the number of people they can take with them will just p*** them off, makes the park look stupid and they will not go back, so the park loses out in the end. It used to be limited to 3 cares max which worked fine (and I know, I worked there for 2 years!)It's comments like yours Justandy22 which prove how much of a fail it is and how much they are letting their customers down. They may be trying to cut the main queue down but this is not the way to do it, it's like they are penalising disabled groups!Bad move Thorpe

Quick "review" of Storm Surge!Theming: Naff they plonked a car there and some pipes, and the water guns etc, but it could do with more. But my expectations of Thorpe are that it will probably stay how it is!Ride: Overall it was fun, and a good laugh with friends, like Sheepie said. Also agree with him about feeling exposed on the lift hill - I felt a bit unsure at first too! It was a strange feeling! And the rollers feel weird! When you first start dropping it's slow-ish, calm...then you hit the spinny velcro things and whoosh! You spin quite fast, one point felt quite intense! I think all of us were pretty much laughing the whole way through! The drop at the bottom is pretty dull, then you get soaked by the water guns. Nice. Finally, you sit around a bit until another boat gives you an oomph into the station...and you get the good old fart noise to accompany! :oThe worst thing for me today was the queue, I expected 60mins at the worst, but what did we queue for? 2 hours and 20 minutes precisely. As Mark9 said, when we were at the front, the operator announced an hour queue which was clearly wrong, causing some anger with a group behind us! I can understand their anger but using the F and C words infront of families and children, I thought was disgusting and totally OTT.So overall, I found it fun and a laugh, it's something to do to pass the time, you get great views, like of Rush for example, from the lift hill, but it isn't worth a big queue. The most I would queue is 15 minutes. Hopefully loading procedures will speed up as they use more boats and staff become faster etc.
  19. Seeing as Mark posted MY photo of Marc...

^ I think others will care if they catch your germs though!
  24. All sounds fine to me :unsure:Glad Merlin aren't just making it physical disabilities (which apparently Thorpe did last year?). I wonder if they'll make it so as well as proof of disability, you also need a note from a GP etc, to actually confirm how the disability prevents them queueing/understanding the concept. Would be good as it stops people abusing the system and it's also something I think Thorpe tried last year.
