Are You Obsessed With THORPE PARK?
Jamie_Hk replied to thorpeparkjunkie's question in Quick Questions
I dunno how to define obsessed but yeah, it's weird but I really do have this thing for theme parks, mainly Thorpe Park. When I was younger, I used to obsess about it at school and know all the ins and outs, leaving people kinda weirded out I dunno, it might just be weird but many of you guys are the same, so I know I'm not the only one.And for some reason, I'm extra excited this year, hence why I'm back, using the forum. I've kinda grown out of counting down the days till the re-opening of a season, but as I'm getting closer to driving, the thought of being able to go whenever I want, it really makes me excited -
From what I remember, Asylum genuinely scared the hell out of me and I'd never ran so fast. I remember a woman chasing me whilst whacking a chain against a wall. Scary stuff.SAW Alive doesn't seem to even come close to this effect. I love the themeing, I really do, but I think one, it's quite mall and easy to run into walls, or maybe that's just me. Not gonna lie, I was scared like a wimp and I was desperate to get out (LOL)...but I did find it disappointing, so I hope they can perhaps make it 'better' and grab some ideas from Asylum, Se7en etc. After all, it's a bit of a letdown after all the hype

I didn't realise this could be used for the whole year. It's pretty decent, but for £4 everytime you want a new picture, it will all add up and prove to be quite expensive.Personally, I think the prices are crazy but are worth it if you wish to buy the picture...
-
Yeah...I agree with that. The more I think about it, apart from the rooms, everything about the maze is completely unrelated :| the actors should be the ones who are more scared, perhaps portraying it vocally rather than just standing there and touching you as you're about to leave the room. And I'd definitely say they need to sort out lighting or something because it's quite difficult to actually see where you're going, and the actors had to guide me in the right direction, which also ruins the experience a bit.Maybe later in the year or next year, they will take this criticism on board and improve the maze...

I'm sure they do this in the 'Death Trap' maze in London...I went and they had a photo of your reaction, a lot more worthwile, but ofc, the point you made are also true.
-
I do agree with you there, but you do just feel that when you pay to get in the park, going on only a few of the rides you wanted to is a bit disappointing. I, personally, would be pretty annoyed if I'd paid the full price yesterday. Of course, it's all down to the individual and I must admit that Thorpe Park seems to be a rerally popular place for groups of friends to go, which is good.
-
Agreed! That is pretty much SAW Alive. A photo of your reaction to a certain room would be better, but tbh, there's not much to react to. Of course, everyone is different and this attraction probably scares a lot of people, but personally, and it seems to be the same with many others, it's a bit of a letdown.

I got on 8 yesterday! It was a joke, but it's my own fault for going during the holidays, which I'll never do again!Didn't queue too long to get in, staff at the admission booths were working pretty quickly. From what I saw, most rides had no problems all day. Stealth stopped for a few minutes for some reason, but was nothing major. Slammer stopped at the top and came back down again - not too sure if it re-opened, but it was 10 minutes from closing so...I should've planned the day a bit better, perhaps should've bought Fastrack, but to be honest, the Fastrack queues were too long on some of the rides, which kind of defeats the aim of the system.Anyway, I managed to ride...- Rush.- Rumba Rapids.- Nemesis Inferno (which was stated as having a 45 minute queue but got on within 20 minutes )- Stealth.- Samurai.- SAW The Ride.- SAW Alive.- Loggers Leap.I did what I wanted but as always, didn't get on Colossus because of the queue length. It always seems to be so long, which is really disappointing never mind eh.I generally had a good day but I think I'll leave THORPE PARK alone for a while, or at least be a bit more tactical and go on a 'school day'.Got some pics too, will upload them later.

I thought so, I couldn't remember exactly! And I'm pretty sure it remained closed after about quarter to 6 because the woman in the booth apologised that the riders didn't get their turn and someone was coming to let them off. Surely they'd allow them to stay on if it was re-opening.
-
Ah well when I say got stuck, I mean it got to the top, did nothing, then came back down. Then they said there was a problem and sorry that the riders didn't get a turn, and they were waiting for a technician. I don't think it's possible to get suck upside down, unless I'm wrong...

Queued for this today, got to about 5:40 and it got stuck, so they closed the ride :/ great. And I love Slammer!!
-
Was on the front of this today - really enjoyed it! It's quite painful I have to be honest, but the experience seemed a lot more enjoyable than last year

Went today. I was impressed with the queue time and themeing, very good! The atmosphere within in the maze is very dark so that's quite good, but I found that the rooms were repetitive and after room 1, there was no real suprise...and the actors weren't that great tbh. It must get a bit dull to do this day after day, but the actors actually came out of character and when we went in the wrong direction, they either pointed or told us which way to go. Not a biggy, but kinda spoils the experience a bit. So generally, pretty decent but nothing amazing.

It was quite busy today but a lot of the ride queues went quite quick. Very impressed with Nemesis Inferno, but Samurai is still so painful to watch.
-
I'm going tomorrow!I fully expect it to be busy but I'm just excited to go anyway I'll try and take plenty of pics and post a review after, looking forward to going in the maze as well!

Dunno if it's any use to anyone who collects clubcard points at Tesco but £10 of clubcard vouchers gets you an adult ticket for 1 day, which is a pretty good deal :rolleyes:Don't forgot thorpepark.com/sawaliveoffer as you can also get £15 off entry, and as I work in Tesco, I know that the 2 4 1 vouchers are beginning again soon

They've really gone all out on this site, it's appealing and parts of it are funny to read. I really like it and think it's definitely better than last years. And now you can view the pics as a slideshow which is pretty cool
-
...and every year, Thorpe have had a different theme to the site, so this year it's a bit more 'laid back' and more interesting to read.
-
...but the parks main target are teens...so little things like that make it less formal, I really like the site. The only annoying thing is that noise, but oh well eh. One of the best sites I've seen from Thorpe
-
Umm that's not very clear. Thanks anyway.

I agree! For most people, they go to the park and that's it, but I, like most of us here, feel the need to sign up to forums and constantly look on the official site for more info etc... -

There's not much to post about my trip. The queues were long but quite reasonable, especially as it's still the summer holidays etc. Managed to ride SAW again which I loved more than ever, felt completely different and a lot more enjoyable.Stealth felt a lot faster and was really enjoyable :PSamurai in the rain is great! Short setting but really flung me around. This was my ride count, from what I can remember...Slammer - 1.Rocky Express - 1.SAW - 1.Nemesis Inferno - 1.Loggers Leap - 1.Samurai - 2.Zodiac - 1.Rush - 1.X - 1.Stealth - 1.I think that was pretty much it. Not great tbh but it was still an enjoyable day and the queues were pretty hefty so doing 10 rides was quite alright hoping to go again for Fright Nights and I shall try and ride the ones I didn't on friday. The arena show was brilliant as well, some really good stunts and everything, good show!Pictures up shortly

Ah ok, I guess it was having technical issues then.
