Europa Park
Let's not forget Lightning Rod is being delayed. Lost Kingdom failed to open when internally planned. Klugheim still doesn't have an opening date. Mission Ferrari at Ferrari World was meant to open in 2015. Karnan's tower hasn't been fully themed. Legoland Windsor still haven't opened Ghost yet. Kong failed to open for its internally planned soft opening. The list goes on. The theme park industry is nothing but delays and broken promises. Let's all rage.

Virtual Reality on Rides
Mount Mara is now open proper and there's some of the VR footage here; it looks surprisingly alright (better than Six Flags' efforts): http://www.looopings.nl/weblog/5185/Looopings-test-nieuwe-virtual-reality-achtbaan-Mount-Mara-in-Bobbejaanland.html Interesting to hear that the park's director seemingly thinks of it as a long term thing too.

Containment
I've heard that the Containment site has now been fenced off and a couple of Danger / Work signs have been put on them? Anyone able to confirm?

Closed Rides
I heard that X had a closure today due to essential cleaning, but was back open quite quickly. Maybe you were there then Jamie? I also believe that Derren Brown's Ghost Train and Amity Beach were closed today. :/

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
It was his stage name in 1992 - http://derrenbrown.co.uk/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-derren-brown/ Y'know, to fit in with the rumoured time travel stuff On a different note, a couple of photos from today from Theme UK... Lights have been added to the covered sections of the queue. These are the same as the ones posted on mindswanted. "Proceed this way after presentation" sign. And a couple from TPM... Complete clock. No more sign. No more mysterious, train carriage like, object outside the building.

The Chessington Adventure Tree
Given that Shrek's Adventure is planned to be rolled out across the globe (in a similar fashion to the Dungeons brand), I'd be surprised if the Merlin / Dreamworks connection wasn't very strong.

That takes you back to forum.maniahub.com, I think pluk is referring to one to go to thorpeparkmania.co.uk?

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
As good as Ryan's prediction was, it appears he was still trumped (kind of) a year and half earlier...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Saw Derren's live show tonight. After watching it, it's sort of reminded me just how big a deal his involvement is. He's an outright showman and loves his detail, and just seems to love getting a reaction from people. Having someone like that, who has such a big influence on the project, surely means only good can come from this!?

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
To complain that a ride wasn't open for a preview event is laughable. Th13teen opened as it is now I believe. Smiler and Zufari are the only previous examples of major attractions which have opened late under Merlin. And to elaborate on what Mark pointed out, every attraction (major or not) at Thorpe bar Vortex and Big Top, has opened on time, finished.

Saw, Th13teen, Raptor, Swarm, Polar X-Plorer, Flug, Oblivion Black Hole all say hi.

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
For the record, I believe the train that was behind BBQ is now inside the building. There's also likely more of them already inside. Maybe the delay could also be down to wanting to open on full capacity rather than part capacity?

The worst thing about this change is that pluk has gotten rid of his monkey face avatar.

Backstage tours
Nope; just head to the exit of the coaster you've chosen at the end of the day (unless they've already told you to go elsewhere)

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Actors haven't been officially confirmed, just live action. However, a couple of articles, which feature quotes from Merlin not lifted from press releases, have mentioned actors, so it seems pretty certain now. On a different note, here's a video from ExposureDigital, who were involved with the creation of mindswanted.co.uk

Wicker Man
Pre show building? Obviously going to be the world's first coaster with a washing machine element.

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Interesting you mention about it being "rated 12". It's not any sort of rating, it's just a recommendation the park set themselves in case someone young finds anything disturbing. It'd be interesting if the BBFC, for example, did have to age rate some (screen based) attractions in the UK. Surely the disturbing / upsetting nature of the film in The Passing could have warranted a 12A rating, or maybe even a 15? I know that Hobs Pit has a rating from the BBFC, and from what I heard, they had to change things about since it would have been rated 15 otherwise. And course, Sub Terra also apparently had one, but since there's no reference other than a recommended age limit, I don't quite know if that was a publicity stunt?
