  1. Well some of them have actually been on this type of coaster which probably helps them form a valid opinion. Not quite.
  2. I thought Colossus went backwards at Halloween anyway? Weird.
  3. I really liked Lex and seeing Kingda Ka launching at and up towards you will be pretty cool. Plus it sort of address the throughput issue (if they bother to run all 3 towers past media day).
  4. Haven't been on an RMC but I'd way more OK with the layout if it had more airtime hills and got rid of those weird turnaround things.
  5. Everyone wants an event more like Halloween Horror Nights, yet nobody wants to pay extra money. Then again, night rides are easy to get at other times of the year at Universal.

Hadouken! are always fun. I think they were one of the very first bands on when I went. I've somehow missed out seeing Foals many a time which upsets me.

Please say you saw System of a Down.
  8. The best 'group system' in my opinion are small groups of people where if you don't stick together, the actors will drag you off. Terrible throughput though. As for The Sanctuary, it was certainly something special but there were plenty of jump scares for me.
  9. 8:30 to 26:30 of that video is basically Wardley ripping in Merlin management, Nick Varney in particular. Kind of funny how a few months ago people were saying that The Smiler would be a great last project for him when he is pretty bitter about it now.
  10. Stand-Up would have been fine with me if the current boarding/station problems were fixed.
  11. Really surprised Cabin in the Woods has been hinted at since Universal are doing it this year (I assumed they would have some sort of exclusivity on most of their mazes) and it's going to be be nigh impossible to be good unless it has a substantial budget and loads of actors.
  12. It is a very risky system. WDW attempted something similar on Aerosmith and that seemed very short lived. At least if something like Fastpass is undersold the main queue can just move faster, rather than people being unable to enter the queue in the first place. A better way around this would be to keep the normal queue and somehow integrate this idea with the Fast Track queue.
  13. 1. Disney rides with Fastpass have 2 queues, Standby (normal) and Fastpass. Machines outside rides give out return time tickets. While the American parks will not let you in if you are really late (probably due to Fastpass+ coming in but also because people saved them for peak times. This is a pretty new rule.), DLP staff really do not seem to care despite the tickets having rather strict rules printed on them. I've used Thunder Mountain Fastpasses which expired 8 hours previously. 2. Day into timetable: yes this is one of the problems facing Fastpass+, more so because you can book ride slots months in advance. Breakdowns can also be a big problem with this system, hence the trialling on one ride. It's a pretty good choice of ride though since it's out of the way and forces guest movement across the park.
  14. Fair play Thorpe, I wasn't expecting this at all. Hopefully it becomes a permanent feature if run properly (and stays free). Double edged sword. Pathways would get much more congested.
  15. Oh and Comcast just gave another $500M for future investment. They've been buying land as well in Orlando. It's fine though because Disney has FastPass+ on the Beauty and the Beast show! I just hope that the scene transitions and pre-shows are clearer on the Gringotts coaster. The tech is amazing on Forbidden Journey but good luck following the story.
  16. Giving guests torches can make an actors life very difficult. Rather than being able to time scares or even having full control of effects, they have to react to the guests' random movements. In this case, there's the risk Slenderman won't 'disappear' if a torch can follow them.

    Doctor Who

Peter Capaldi is a great actor but even he can't save bad writing.
  18. The difference being that even during peak times at Six Flags/Universal etc I have never seen the sheer amount of people using the paid system. Universal even jacks up their prices at peak.
  19. So for something to change we need guest riots ala when The Smiler's name was announced? Comparing a free system (which also has big flaws) with a paid system is silly.
  20. I'd disagree. For the amount of space Euro Disney had, they really goofed up the layout of the studios park. There are so many awkward issues and low throughput rides coupled with completely clashing themes.
  21. The reason why MOS is comparitvely cheaper is because they can sell drinks after the rides have closed.
  22. Out of interest, do you know if the amount of fast track has any relationship to the throughput or is it just arbitrary numbers? Also any comparison to the other coasters would be great. The only coasters that seem to be running efficiently this year are 13 and Nemesis.
  23. Well it's currently puddles, house lights and concrete walls.
  24. The Smiler's inside section is the new Air tunnel.
  25. I wonder if people would have been so sympathetic to such huge delays if the ride had been at Thorpe or Chessington.
