The 2016 Thread
Similarly - I cannot see Colossus going anywhere anytime soon... that thing as iconic as Stealth for Thorpe Park in my opinion. I don't enjoy riding the thing one bit mind you, but it's still iconic

Stealth
Any Stealth love by Thorpe is fine by me.

So SAW is part of Old Town officially?

Logger's Leap
I do think the Old Town name is a bit naff, just reminds makes me think of lots of kids rides (Toy Town) That aside, assume the new name would hint at something new there in the future as they drop the Canada tie ins. Always thought that noodle shop was a bit odd being in Canada Creek anyway. "This attraction is under development" is suitably vague as to whether it's being scrapped entirely or being modified.

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
I don't think it would have been too much to ask to retarmac the surrounding area instead of those criss-cross gulleys where they've laid new cables etc underground. Other than that though - looking good

Rita
I actually quite like what they've done... it looks a heck of a lot better than the dilapidated scaffolding monstrosity that was there in the first place. It may not ideal, but it's a step in the right direction - they could've just left it as it was for another year... I like the abandoned raceway theme with the signs, at least it vaguely makes sense and then fits in. I still dislike Rita as a ride but that's not relevant

Galactica
It's almost like they pull these costs out of thin Air. (pun intended)

Alton Towers General Discussion
Just been confirmed - 2016 means no Hex, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Driving School, NST - as well as The Flume & Ripsaw. NST has been a bit of a nightmare for the park hasn't it?

HONK HONK HONK Vines incoming!

Closed Rides
I had no intention of going whatsoever anyway as I don't currently and never have had an Annual Pass but I am OUTRAGED by these closed rides on a preview day.

Derren Brown's Ministry of Sound Meet 23rd July 2016
Do they use the bar in Fins for serving drinks on MOS events? That would explain the Stowford if so!

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Jart - you are needed to tell all about what goes on inside DBGT.

Derren Brown's Ministry of Sound Meet 23rd July 2016
Haha I can pretend I'm 18 again... I swear Smirnoff Ices aren't as strong as they used to be though, had a couple last year on a stag do and they tasted of nothing Looking forward to this, am guessing I'll have to drink (responsibly) on spirits and maybe Stowford Press if that's on offer. Will also be an exciting chance for my yellow Citroen DS3 to brave the Thorpe gravel-pit car park

Derren Brown's Ministry of Sound Meet 23rd July 2016
Count me in. They have a selection of craft ales and ciders available at MoS nights, right?

TPMs Resident DJ 2015/16
There is nothing whatsover wrong with this selection, awesome pop song and video. Going to see Vanessa Carlton in a few weeks actually in London (Yep, she's still going!) EDIT to also say - Robyn - Dancing On My Own - choooon <3 Seen Robyn a couple of times live too, once in a v. small music venue on Tottenham Court Road that's now been demolished to make way for CrossRail :\

Official Paulton's Park Meet 13th August 2016
If it's the 6th or 7th, Becky can't come but I can. 27th and 28th are no good for us because of Victorious Festival... so anything other than those dates really! PS. If there is anyone in Portsmouth who needs a lift, I may be able to help!

The Smiler Incident 02/06/2015
I personally reckon they will change absolutely nothing merchandise and general theme wise.

Nemesis
I should have clarified - there were two companies - one contractor to do groundworks, piling, foundations, reinforcement, station construction etc. and a different contractor dealt with the track installation (in fact, the track installation contractor is involved with DBGT judging by the site safety signs on hoardings) Ben is right though - budgets were tight to start, and then got tighter.
-
Nemesis
Off topic but - No, no, no. The contractors were not in the slightest - they are the same ones responsible for construction of SAW, The Swarm and Thirteen. The (lack of) drainage system was pointed out by them during construction, but not acted upon - they were simply doing what they were told within the budget constraints.

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
I've pencilled in my first and probably only visit to Thorpe this year on Wednesday 11th May - can't be doing with weekend queues, and figure they may tweak things over the first few days, iron out any problems etc. With a confirmed opening date - surely TV adverts must now be imminent...
