Think about how many mediocre coasters there are in the states though... How many small parks (who can't afford that top tier of manufacturer) are scattered across with nothing world class? Per area, the UK quality is probably one of the best in the world... Probably second to maybe Germany, and that's only because Europa and Phantasialand are there, with only the odd Hansa Park type place... Hell the UK has 5 B&Ms! We're insanely lucky in that regard (just not in the operational sense these days)...

For the size of the country, the UK has plenty of world renowned coasters of a good quality... Towers with Nemesis, Oblivion, Air and Smiler are already on the map anyways...
  3. Sra Dragons coming up with d2 minutes is nothing new, did that when I worked there years ago...
  4. Sounds like Thorpe are using the same PR team as Towers atm...

Don't think comments on a fan's dream ride version should be taken at face vale, especially when Towers were already considering a RMC for SW8...
  6. Intamin already have an Inverted coaster (in Madrid and Finland), and Skyrush is an evolution on their wing coaster model...
  7. 3 separate tracks equals 3 separate creds... Only racing coasters that are single creds are the Mobius ones as they are one continuous track, regardless of coaster count telling me otherwise...
  8. I hope you mean in a theme park Josh, cos there's definitely places in the world where you can get lemon tasting ice cream or ones with real brownie in them... Italy for example and their nommy gelato...
  9. *looks at Smiler* That's why its news...
  10. Different wheels is a good shout, as Mack has to consider the noise implications of Silver Star a lot more... There's a LOT more to consider than basic height/steepness of drop to work out the speed...
  11. There is a disabled pass available at Europa, it's a weird one, but it DOES exist...

Aquatrax is a joke really, like, years ago it was rumoured for EVERYTHING and it's kinda kept going... The TRex track is a self supporting thing if I recall, which is insanely useful as it reduces the costs whilst allowing a wider range of track manipulation... There's some definite positives behind the concept, especially for small parks...
  13. Or mouthing along to the entire pre-show of Hex... Or shouting "NEMESIS" very loudly in the plaza... But it's ok cos he has the "Theme park room"...
  14. Absolute worst ride for the dirty looks is Tomb Blaster, since you slowly enter the station being stared at... Creek's description of the Autism spectrum makes it sound like everyone on here is on it though, what with being strangely obsessed with rides and stuff... My suggestion to anyone who gets the 'look', take a walking stick with you (as a backup plan as though the person CAN walk they might require it at some point) and smack the judgemental arses with it...
  15. The other Disney parks have had the odd incident too, Primeval Whirl comes to mind... Unless it was similar to the chef, then it sounds like a sad accident rather than DLP making staff suicidal...

Is that because of nostalgia though? Like, this isn't bashing Blackpool, it's just facts that they are old fashioned and seen as rickety/unsafe/etc. Some realise this, but since enthusiasts are asking the question on here about what makes them so good, shows what work needs to be done in the UK in order to get them into the public eye as a viable modern addition...

But they are old, rickety and products of a byegone era... Can't deny that at all, especially given Nash in recent times being bloody dreadful... But they're deemed old-fashioned for a reason by the public...
  18. Cos it's just the easiest position for evacuation...

Wooden coasters provide a completely different feel and experience to steel coasters as a start... Unless you're an Intamin prefab, then they are never glass smooth, but the rattle produced in conjunction with everything else creates a real feeling of out of controlness to the proceedings... Unfortunately, most UK people have only ever experienced Blackpool, Gwazi or Stampida... None of these are particularly the sorta rides you want as ambassadors to the type (especially since Gwazi got torn down)... This as a result means that no UK park thinks it worthwhile due to the preconceptions... Oakwood built one, 20 years ago now, but they're only ever in the general public consciousness due to a girl dying on Hydro... Also there's more that wooden coasters can do now, stall turns, overbanks and inversions can be part of the package... And it provides a different aesthetic to steel coasters completely... I'd love Towers to just let GCI loose on that area... Especially if they intertwined a Chiapas flume in there...
  20. That's a grim indictment of modern society right there... It's not like those using the exit via a disabled can abuse the system anyway, as long as the staff are correctly using the timecard and whatnot... That said, why do Thorpe on some rides make disabled riders use the Fastrack queue? Bet that isn't fun in summer or FN...
  21. Only a cynic would suggest Marc made up the Intamin staff sighting to drum up website traffic...
  22. Riddlers is the best of a rather bad bunch... Vortex and Mantis were pretty vile things... Just, urgh, can't believe Towers were apparently considering one recently...

Sorry, did someone here not know of James and the Giant Peach? The hell are they teaching in schools?
  24. Could be worse, could be one of their stand ups.......
