  1. So if the entire site has always been green belt, how did they build stuff in the first place? Didn't hold it back before did it? As Josh says, goes back to my original point, any park has restrictions, the challenge is to work within them...
  2. Nope, due to height restrictions so the top of the ride would not be visible outside the park (much like Fury and it's temporary permission when originally built)... Like, these restrictions are NOT purely down to it existing on green belt land, but due to the nearby residential areas... Like pretty much every other park in the world... The area of green belt the park is on is the boundary/where Zufari is anyway... As I mentioned beforehand... Let's also bear in mind that Rattlesnake was built in 1998, so if these changes have come about, dates would be very useful, rather than stating "it's on wiki" all the time...
  3. Rattlesnake was also in a pit due to height... The only areas of the park that they cannot build rides on are were Zufari sits now, which got permission due to the zoo stuff being a part of it... The entire park doesn't sit on green belt land, and also has noise issues with neighbours (Vampire)... The point still remains that a good park can work around constraints, rather than just not bother...
  4. Wait, did you just say the land Rattlesnake is built on can't be modified? You mean the ride they dug a pit for?
  5. I always love the "but X park hasn't put in the complete effort of doing Y, so why should Z?" Thorpe could have EASILY hidden the entire warehouse... In relation to Bubbles' warehouse now being visible, that's down to the Cafe building burning down and no desire to replace it... That people are going "Well it's the same colour as X so its fine" shows how bad it is to be happy with mediocrity...
  6. Yet there is still a fair amount of land available for the park to play with, especially as they're more than likely having to start removing things before they fall down... Zufari is built on green belt land anyway, so it's doable, just unlikely for an actual ride... Besides, as the point of my post which you seemingly ignored was, a good park works within the limitations set in by local restrictions... Chessie could easily add things worthwhile if they thought things through (instead of half arsing everything)...
  7. What about the water splashes? Apart from the one that goes into the fire engine obviously...
  8. A good park finds ways to battle planning restrictions though... Like, Phantasialand is literally next door to houses, yet able to build some fantastic and interesting rides...
  9. Some trees, but not enough to cover it (mostly opposite the Megastore)...

When the future isn't certain (such as Flume is being replaced by SW8 eventually), can understand the doubt... Like, a few years could be something new next year, or 2018, or something in 5+ years...
  11. You're going to Florida? Why didn't you say something?

The Towers woodie rumours were because the original plan for SW8 was to have a launched RMC in Forbidden Valley (replacing Blade and Ripsaw) and going into the Air car park... Whilst the Smiler crash seemingly put this on hold, since it was meant for 2017, perhaps it's only the location which has changed...

    The Smiler

What happens when you build something out of concrete but don't treat it? The station was always gonna suffer with dampness...
  14. Let's be honest, you didn't have to be Nostradamus to predict that the usual problems would still be happening even though things have been painted or 'fixed up'...

Think about how many mediocre coasters there are in the states though... How many small parks (who can't afford that top tier of manufacturer) are scattered across with nothing world class? Per area, the UK quality is probably one of the best in the world... Probably second to maybe Germany, and that's only because Europa and Phantasialand are there, with only the odd Hansa Park type place... Hell the UK has 5 B&Ms! We're insanely lucky in that regard (just not in the operational sense these days)...

For the size of the country, the UK has plenty of world renowned coasters of a good quality... Towers with Nemesis, Oblivion, Air and Smiler are already on the map anyways...
  17. Sra Dragons coming up with d2 minutes is nothing new, did that when I worked there years ago...
  18. Sounds like Thorpe are using the same PR team as Towers atm...

Don't think comments on a fan's dream ride version should be taken at face vale, especially when Towers were already considering a RMC for SW8...
  20. Intamin already have an Inverted coaster (in Madrid and Finland), and Skyrush is an evolution on their wing coaster model...
  21. 3 separate tracks equals 3 separate creds... Only racing coasters that are single creds are the Mobius ones as they are one continuous track, regardless of coaster count telling me otherwise...
  22. I hope you mean in a theme park Josh, cos there's definitely places in the world where you can get lemon tasting ice cream or ones with real brownie in them... Italy for example and their nommy gelato...
  23. *looks at Smiler* That's why its news...
  24. Different wheels is a good shout, as Mack has to consider the noise implications of Silver Star a lot more... There's a LOT more to consider than basic height/steepness of drop to work out the speed...
