Towers had a pretty good level of take up in the hotels this year; hence why they're pushing forward with more accommodation for 2014/2015. The cheap rooms at off peak times at AT is quite normal, and has been the case for years and years. I once had a room in December 2006 for £9.99!

Queue times at Thorpe are generally longer, for a variety of reasons: - As above, there is very little space and guests go from one ride to the next. - Fastrack sales are higher. - Ride capacities per hour are generally lower (in some cases significantly lower) - There are less support rides at Thorpe Park

No. The price I quoted was the Annual pass B&B only price. The price with entry is higher.

You get entertainment at Alton Towers too. In fact, you get several forms of entertainment for each age group... Very young: Pirate Show, Ringo's Story Time, Ice Age Meet and Greets Children: Paradise Plumbers Disco Family/older: Live Music/Band

Just done some comparisons using the Annual Pass Rate. THORPE PARK Crash Pad: Saturday, 27th April: £175 / 4 = £43.75pp Alton Towers Splash Landings: Saturday, 27th April: £147 / 4 = £36.75pp That is all. Is it just me, or would you expect The Crash Pad to be significantly cheaper to stay at than AT's hotels?

Whilst Oblivion is short - it does, as has been said, exactly what it sets out to do. It's better value for riders than a drop tower, in any case. Although. I do feel that the Oblivion experience is sometimes hampered by the maintenance.

Themed staff, what more can we ask for? I think Sub Terra, aside from the needless shouting at the start, gets it right. Even though Sub Terra is an average 'ride' - it's a consistent, theatrical journey - in many ways, the pre-cursor for SW7!

I do love what they're doing with the logo there! The Th13teen one was good also, back in 2010.
-
If it's anything like the quality of the Pirate Rooms, it will be - I had the chance to look in those a couple of years ago and the theming quality is amazing!
-
I can personally assure you that these rooms are coming! As a member of the TS Team, I received confirmation myself. However, if you'd rather wait until it appears on the AT website to be assured, then feel free - but there wouldn't be a competition launched on TS to stay in the rooms if they weren't real! Sorry to hear you've felt that some of the AT fansites haven't always spoken the truth...

Actually I think it's great that the resort are offering enthusiasts this opportunity! I don't recall another time in the recent past, anyway. You don't have to use the fastracks, you could always burn them in a ritualistic manner outside the Box Office!
-
I am not sure whether this belongs here, or in the advertising forum - apologies if it shouldn't be here (mods move it if need be). However, I felt it was a pretty big deal re: SW7! There's a competition launching later this evening for AT enthusiasts via www.towersstreet.com. You could win: - One night stay for 4 people in one of the new SW7 themed rooms. - Park entry for 4. - Fastracks for 4. - Behind the scenes tour of SW7. It launches at 7.30pm this evening and you're all more than welcome to enter! There's updates via the TS Facebook page, too - www.facebook.com/towersstreet

Sort of confirming? It is definitely confirmed - clearly stating that ATR have confirmed it to TS. I think it's great that they're getting these, as they haven't had any new thrill ride themed rooms for some time!
-
I heard the CCR rumour too. So it should return to be honest. It's not like they'd remove all the track and trains if they close it anyway. So why have it sitting there rotting away? If they care about the park, which I assume they do, then it ought to run. No matter how hard they try to get kids to NOT visit, the bottom line is - some will still do!
-
The ride was running behind schedule. As a result, they have re-worked the schedule so that they are working significantly increased hours. It is still set to open on time at this moment.

Towersstreet News have today reported that there will be 2 new SW7 themed suites for the resort hotels in 2013. This is great news if you ask me - since the Nemesis and Oblivion ones were removed, it's not been the same! http://www.towersstreet.com/news/2012/exclusive-sw7-themed-rooms-for-2013/
-
It is correct. Categorically! Track didn't go vertical until literally the past day or two.
-
Supports started to go up today.
-
There was a new schedule created, which takes into account all the delays and so on that they have encountered thus far. As far as I know, even with the ride only going vertical in the coming days, it's still scheduled to open on March 16th! I hope so...

The Towers Street Wiki is designed as a tongue in cheek reference for Alton Towers. It is not to be taken seriously! On a more serious note, Rameses is not getting any younger. Alton Towers have identified Ripsaw as a ride reaching the end of its life, and will need replacing over the course of the next few years... Rameses is even older. The thought of CWOA losing this - the only genuine thrill attraction - is worrying.
-
By a mile? BLUE FIRE! I could sit there all day. (quick mention for Colorado Adventure, too) Some rides are just SO re-rideable!
-
Europa-Park re-opened yesterday for their winter season, which runs until Sunday, January 6th. And, new for this year - Blue Fire is added to the line up of rides. However, it cannot operate in sub zero temperatures nor in severe fog. It's fantastic news that one of the parks "big 3" coasters is now open for Winter!
-
Loggers Leap was designed with this enclosed lift/drop in mind. Comparing to The Flume is pointless, when that ride was designed with an open lift and enclosed drop. In addition, The Flume has 3 drops - not 2. A ride should really operate how it was intended. If a roof is condemned, get a new roof. If the fog lights both went on my car, sure I could manage without them. But I would replace them. Loggers is one of, if not the best, log flume in the UK based on the second drop alone - it's just a shame that it basically stinks of mould and has seen no decent amount of refurbishment in a long, long time.

Ahem. Come on. Everywhere at EP is immaculate! As if anything like this would ACTUALLY happen. Can you imagine it?
