  1. Theoretical capacities are never achieved to be honest. People go on about Oblivion at AT, which has a theoretical of 1,800 per hour. It never achieves that - although it's still the highest throughput coaster at AT (and probably in the UK?). If I glanced at Vampire, I would look at it and hazard a guess at 1,200 per hour? But I bet it's miles off that pace with the new trains.
  2. I actually find DMP's prospects quite exciting...Thomas Land has done wonders for their brand image across the Midlands itself, and with quite a lot of touch ups going on (G Force track repaint, Shock Wave train repaint and refurb, Storm Force refurb, Maelstrom repaint) together with the new Thomas Land ride and Ben 10, new staff recruitment procedures, and the alleged Thrill coaster for 2012... life is looking good for this park! And all 20 minutes drive from me.Yupppeeee!
  3. Absolutely! However, now it's been marketed and over 3 million people have been to the park since it was installed, they probably feel the need to revert back to the likes of Oblivion.Anyway, I feel the advert has a good balance even if it's not Alton's best. And it's not about how enthusiasts felt it was marketed - Morwenna said (and I quote) "a lot of it is bull s**t"
  4. I think Th13teen is dead and buried now. Going back to the legends such as Oblivion is the only way.

  6. It is used on all rides of this type, in case you thought this was some revolution to hit THORPE PARK.
  7. Well, RMT does hold more than Runaway Train (is RT 38? RMT is 46) - so it will have more riders. I believe it gets somewhere in the region of 900-1000. Either way, considering that's the lowest throughput of all rides on standard fastrack at Alton, says a lot when here we have rides with 200-300 per hour having a Fastrack option.
  8. It shocks to think the ride at Alton Towers on standard fastrack that has the lowest throughput is Runaway Mine Train with 1,000 per hour. Yet here at Chessington, we have rides that get barely 20% of that... What are they thinking.
  9. It utterly dwafs anything in the UK.Incredible.Storm Surge? LOL!

  11. It smacks of desperation the "Young Adventurers Fastrack" to me really... Surely a lot of rides on that have barely any throughput as it is!
  12. It is closer to Alton and Thorpe's, but then the rides at Alton and Thorpe are much bigger scale etc. The equivalent at Alton is £6.00 for Charlie, RMT, Flume and Rapids. At CWOA, £6.00 will get you Toadies Truckers, Seastorm, Jumbos, Tiny Truckers. LOL. And equally, I am sure they intend to make more money here - it's nothing to do with charging more to sell less. Merlin will have asked them to increase sales as a priority target.

  14. Shame they couldn't have the park all open for Annual Pass holders really, nor had effects working on rides like Inferno, given that AP holders are probably the most demanding guests they get in terms of expectation!Glad to see rides have opened now, though.
  15. Mutiny Bay was a medium investment for Alton Towers, so I would argue that it's not directly comparable with this (clearly, Battle Galleons is far, far better than Storm Surge in terms of sympathy to surrounding area and visual appearance). However, regardless of whether it's "small/medium/large" - every single new development that Merlin put in should look excellent. Simply put - you wouldn't get Chessington or Alton Towers adding an attraction that looks so god awful as Storm Surge these days regardless of the cost of the attraction. Towers management wouldn't let it happen for starters and I just wouldn't expect it of Chessington either.I suppose Thorpe's target audience aren't so bothered, really. At least it's a laugh to ride.

I am unsure on Fright Nights - but they were using the same track as used for the Terror of the Towers queueline at the weekend!!!
  17. I think it it will mainly be drinks on the loop.Food will probably go down the spirals.
  18. It should be opening with the park, on 9th April. Official video from the construction at EP:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tQDuE0ZY34s:D
  19. I heard one woman moaning that Octopus Gardens had been shut. As stated though, you'd have thought as AP holders, they'd have known...
  20. I wish I could say "I can go whenever". But I hadn't been to Thorpe since last May, live in Staffordshire and hardly go to Thorpe Park at all these days as frankly it feels like a chance if you turn up - you just don't know if it's going to work alright. After a 300-mile round trip, around £40 petrol, frankly I wish I had not bothered.I bet a fair few AP holders came some distance after hearing reports in 2010 that Thorpe had improved.I got on:StealthSaw The RideSaw AliveColossusNemesis InfernoX:/NWOStorm SurgeWorst ride count in years at any park. Didn't get on Rush or Samurai (two of my favourite flats in the UK - the latter was closed all day) nor the Rapids which spent much of the day shut. I'd also have gone on Quantum but it was closed, and we didn't have time for Detonator. Slammer is rubbish so didn't bother with it anyway. Even the Banana Boat had a 20 minute wait.
  21. It looks awful, has blocked off X:/ completely and is fairly themeless, aside from the entrance sign, some station signs and the pipes and car. The queue was horrendous today - I waited 35 minutes in Fastrack after getting some passes from Guest Services. It IS fun though (as I expected). Worth a max. 20 minute wait. Can't believe how the station is though, I expected a roof at least!
  22. In February, Picolve were offering Annual Pass Holders a PhotoPass for the 2011 season - 5 photos £14.00! Full price was £20.00.This was at Alton Towers.
  23. Th13teen no longer looks like Xcelerator in the woods.Result!I love the look of this map, but agree it's less than ideal for navigation. Stunning work of art, though.
  24. Thanks for the link! So excited now! Looks nice and speedy, and smooth. Can't wait to ride this next month!EEEE
