I'm not surprised they are having lower gate figures to be honest! Reliability, operations and overall customer experience have been awful for most of this year. The trouble is, Thorpe have been used to being able to have the "we don't have to make an effort, you'll come anyway" attitude for years but now people are starting to notice the many faults - I've read/heard loads of complaints from the GP this year about issues that have been the case for many years, but that are steadily getting worse. At the end of the day, the guests at Thorpe are paying customers and if they continue to provide such poor customer satisfaction then I can't see things improving. The lower gate figures should be a wake up call to Merlin, but instead they're trying to cut back costs even further (11am staggered openings, rides closing before the season is over, even more prominent one train operation, the list goes on). That is NOT the way to win back customers.

It's the latest in a very long list of reasons why the park is in a bad state.
-
I don't find any of the coasters at Blackpool rough apart from Infusion on a bad day, it's all down to opinion though.
-
So was I. Such a shame, the ride creates such a good atmosphere and there is heavy footfall in that area, a closed ride is shoddy - especially when it's that visible. Thorpe really are in bad times at the moment.
-
Have they? I haven't seen very much marketing for it at all, it's all been for The Big Top.

Sorry I wasn't clear, what I meant was I can't see there being an issue with people complaining about being weighed. The throughput is a completely different matter and yes this is an issue.
-
Just to be clear, it didn't personally offend me - I'm not skinny, but I'm able to laugh at myself and enjoy a joke about it, whether from me or others. However, I consider the fact that some people feel differently about things to me, and I found the posts quite unnecessary and rude. Also, I just think that it looks very unprofessional for someone running the site to post a picture of a fat person and saying "burn people who complain". The thing is though, this is an internet forum about theme parks. People should not have to read through posts that could offend them when people really had no reason to post them in the first place. In the right context, being told how it is could be good, however on an forum it would be nice if people could show a bit of respect to others. I also disagree with it being a "life choice" as there are a huge number of factors to be considered but that's not really relevant in this topic. On the subject of the scales, I really can't see them being an issue. I didn't even realise what they were at the time, and I don't think the GP did either to be honest.

Nemesis and Nemesis Inferno are the only B&M's I rate highly. Air and Swarm are fairly similar in that I find they offer little thrill but are just "okay", and Oblivion really is just one drop - it would make a good start to a ride, but I just think it's too short for a roller coaster. Admittedly I haven't been on any B&M's outside the UK, hopefully that'll change soon. Just to remind you, there is more to life than theme parks and there's no need to be calling anyone basic because of the coasters they rate!

I am all for light humour, but this is a forum not a comedy and suggesting that people who complain are burnt is just completely unacceptable. Also, people not fitting on rides is not a laughing matter and they deserve respect, not nasty comments and jibes.

For once I agree with you, wouldn't expect that from someone who is supposedly in charge.I have no issue with the scales, but the attitude displayed towards larger people was just completely unnecessary, and a post like that from a senior member of the team is shocking to be honest.

Sundays are generally quieter than Saturdays as people tend to leave earlier, so by 8pm it's usually quite quiet leaving two hours with minimal queues. This doesn't apply in half term though.
-
It's the way it was said that I have an issue with. This for example: That is completely unrelated and didn't need to be said, it just comes across as an attack.
-
I'm not sure if it is intended, but this comes across as rather rude and could offend quite a lot of people (not me personally, but I don't see any reason for an uncalled for attack on larger people).
-
Personally, if I was paying £15 then I would want to be able to choose, for example if I got Saw Alive then I wouldn't be very impressed as I don't rate that maze very highly. Not a very good idea IMO.
-
Personally I class theming as secondary to the quality of the ride when it comes to coasters, so I would quite like to visit Cedar Point one day. With that said, the dive coaster could have some water features such as a water skim which wouldn't be classed as theming.
-
That wasn't intended as completely serious, but I have seen a very long Fastrack queue complaints of it taking over an hour due to overselling on numerous occasions.^ That happened to me as well on My Bloody Valentine with the queue taking 140 minutes instead of the advertised 60 due to Fastrack being let on - if I remember correctly, they were batching 4 Fastrack groups to 1 from the main queue. I'm sure that this won't be an issue this year though as "they have passed on feedback to the relevant department"... At least that's what they told everyone last year!

Just? The trouble is an Intamin or B&M is a very high investment for a park without a huge company behind them, plus Intamin's seem to have a lot of underlying issues when compared with other manufacturers.
-
With how busy the park was last year, I'd say that they already make enough money at Fright Nights without cuts. Cutting the park's budget by closing rides is not the way to restore faith in parks, they need to be aiming for guest satisfaction at the moment IMO.
-
I've never really got this "Fury was designed to be temporary" thing, I'm probably being stupid but why would they design a coaster of that scale to be temporary?
-
That would be the biggest issue for me, especially the atmosphere at Fright Nights as it's lit up well usually. I still go on it at Fright Nights, and so do plenty others.
-
Supposedly yes, if you believe Thorpe's twitter page that is. Samurai probably won't be though as it's still in pieces. In previous years rides have generally stayed open until 10pm, although I do remember back in 2013 several rides closed early, however last year it was only Logger's Leap if I remember correctly.
