Today's episode was slightly better. Some creepy (if underused) robots, a stronger plot line and much better use of humour for Bradley Walsh. Still nowhere near where the show should be, but better. Interestingly today's episode wasn't written by Chibnall.

They've been terrible on the whole this year in my experience, with a few exceptions.

Oh neither do I, but this in particular seems a bit odd.

Have Pleasure Beach's social media team been taking lessons from Thorpe? Considering this has come from the park's official Twitter page, this is either a shockingly unprofessional "joke" or there is some truth in it.

They basically made an idiotic rushed decision, they were so sure Icon would be a massive hit they removed (in their eyes) a piece of "old tat" because it couldn't be sorted straight away, put some rubbish out about new developments and now they're left with a failed new coaster, lost one of the best ones and no money to build a replacement! Morons.

The next coaster is unlikely to come anytime soon IMO, if the suggested (lower) gate figures for this year are correct. And to think, they removed Mouse "to make way for exciting new developments" (quoting BPB themselves). Let's see these developments then!

London Resort? Is this the one that's had more delays than Derren Brown's Ghost Train...? I highly doubt it'll ever come to fruition which is a shame. Alton is just as neglected as Thorpe though, they opened a massive new coaster this year yet were opening four coasters at 11am? Ludicrous.

It's pathetic, makes them look so unprofessional. Surprised they're getting away with it under Merlin but then again, this is the same company which allowed "it's better than nothing" on Alton's feed. Thorpe's social posts in general have been dire this year, either "buy this" or weird attempts at trying to be 'relevant' and full of exclaimation marks even if it's a response to a complaint. Says a lot about those running the park and possibly goes some way to explaining why the place is in such a mess.

It's that time of year again, the nights are drawing in earlier, it's cold outside and the closed season is upon us. Which theme parks did you visit in 2018, and how many times? I finally managed to get to some abroad parks, as well as having some enjoyable visits to UK parks. I'll start with my count below (referring to the number of days spent at each park); Blackpool Pleasure Beach x18 Thorpe Park x5 Alton Towers x4 Liseberg x3 Phantasialand x2 Chessington x2 Toverland x1 Efteling x1 Oakwood x1 Lightwater Valley x1 Dreamland x1 Brean Theme Park x1 Funland Weston Super Mare x1 TOTAL: 41

I'm not so sure, Capaldi had the odd moment of brilliance and episodes like the last two-parter (World Enough and Time) were decent, whereas IMO there's just nothing of any real note going on in Whittaker's so far. Disagree about the season starts, Rose was a great way to introduce Eccleston and the new companion, and Tennant's first few (New Earth, the werewolf one etc) were all good.

What on earth has happened to this show? I never thought I'd see it get worse than the "look how clever we are" Smith era, but the new series is (IMO) terrible. Where's the alien threat? Where's the (proper) humour? Where's the dramatic chase scenes, the drama and fantastic soundtracks? Whittaker shows signs of promise but the overall package feels so stripped back and devoid of... anything.

Just seen this as the thread has been bumped but wow... how much nicer did Thorpe look and flow as a park without that awful plastic slide dumped in the middle of it?

Pleasure Beach's marketing on top form again... ?
