  3. Banned for making me feel really old by still having a science teacher.
  4. Banned for really making me want to watch The Empire Strikes Back right now!
  5. Come on Mark, it's not like anyone is actually interested in the park's history!

  7. Sh** sorry I completely missed the sarcasm in your post! lol Phew, I was really shocked there and disappointed it might not be there when we visit again in May.
  8. It will be such a shame if this does happen and Thorpe do not replace the roof as soon as possible. In my opinion they will be ruining one of the best water rides in the UK! Oh no that's such a shame So the Log Flume and the Alpine Coaster will be left completely out in the open?

  11. Sorry can I ask for a little description for the "Best Themed UK Experience" and "Best Themed International Experience" categories?
  12. I love Depth Charge and I am not ashamed to admit it. Although it only takes a few seconds to reach the bottom of the slide it offers great views of the park and has always been a great ride since it opened. Recently I have tried to ride it on every visit as it is only going to be a matter of time before it leaves the park. Hopefully it will still have a few more seasons at the park yet though!
  13. As we have now reached the closed season I think I will probably be back on TPM a lot more frequently. Also I have just updated my list of visited attractions in my 'About Me' section!

    X

As a big X:\ fan I must say have my fingers crossed that the ride will receive a lot of attention over this closed season. However over the years I have started to grow accustomed to being slightly disappointed every time the rumoured 're-themes' have not lived up to our expectations. Who knows though, perhaps this time the park will surprise us! Whilst I understand that a large amount of enthusiasts, fan boys and members of the public think that X:\ is a waste of space and should just be replaced by another ride, I believe the ride should be given a fair chance to gain new fans by having a nice amount of money and care spent on it. Back when the ride opened in 1996 it was the biggest ride RMC had ever added and although it was not received very well amongst the coaster enthusiast community it was popular with park guests. In my opinion the various changes to the queue line, the ride itself and a general lack of care and attention have harmed the ride experience over the years. Nowadays there may be a huge collection of newer thrilling roller coasters at the park, which make X:\ look quite tame in comparison, but I feel the park should proudly embrace their oldest non-powered coaster. My wish list of improvements (if the 2013 rumour is true) are as follows: 1. A good deep clean and re-painting of the entire queue line, the nearer you get to the station the more disgusting the walls and floors seem to get. Whether it is piles of trash or large phallic etchings on the walls, these are reasonably small touches that would help improve the queue line for the new season, at least until the undesirable guests start to wreck it again. 2. If they are going to spend some money on the ride I would like the park to decide on a clear theme and stick to it. If the ride is destined to become a club themed "rave ride", I have no problem with that, I would just like to see it being a consistent theme from the entrance to the pyramid to the exit! 3. Please re-build/replace the train cars, at the end of this season they were looking worse than ever. As well as looking extremely dirty, I agree with another poster that the seats themselves seem to be deteriorating. 4. Whilst I would like to see the trains improved personally I would love to see the ride continue running backwards. I know that reversing the seating would probably help improve the downtime, but I feel that it would be striping X:\ of any originality. It would be a great shame to see the back of this unique ride gimmick, the 'backwards in the dark' sections of Revenge of the Mummy and TH13TEEN are some of the highlights of those rides for me but they are far too short in duration. So in conclusion whilst I am hoping that the rumours are true and that we will all get to see a different incarnation of X:\ when the park opens in March, I am also a little apprehensive. My message to the park is that if you are going to make chances to this ride, please do it properly this time!
  15. My personal favourites are the four corner outside seats, they are definitely all worth trying and even worth queuing extra for. So my top 4 seats are: 1. Back Right 2. Front Left 3. Front Right 4. Back Left.
  16. The only option I had to think about was Nemesis Inferno vs Stealth. Whilst Stealth definitely offers one hell of a thrilling ride and is the only one of its kind locally, I felt that I had to factor in my own personal feelings about re-rideability and queue time tolerance. And these factors mean that Nemesis Inferno wins all three rounds as far as I am concerned.
  17. I had completely forgotten about that advert, definitely a classic though!

  21. Thanks once again Javs, I have loved following the developments of your models so far. Best of luck over in Singapore, have you moved out there permanently?
  22. I definitely like the idea of your ride and think it could become a really great family friendly Dark Ride in the hands of Disney's Imagineers. Personally I think it could fit in quite nicely with either the Tomorrowland park area or in the science section of Epcot.
  23. Hi Zusquared, it is great to hear some of your memories of Thorpe Park Radio. Your profile picture looks really interesting and I would love to see a full size version.. Do you mind me asking when you worked at the park?

  24. Oh dear this season could be quite an expensive one for merchandise then...
