If the pumps stop, the ride drains and without water the boats come to rest on the floor. There really is nothing much to see, other than something that usually floats not floating for a bit.
-
I'm sure screens bellow riders would really last well! The last thing I want is a take on Snorin'
-
but but but... it's going to be an industry game changer?
-
? It's 16 years old, and was good for about 10 of those. If they want a running topscan a new one must be cheaper than the maintenance bill this one causes.
-
I didn't believe you until I saw the photos for my self. What the ... I just don't know. That decision is just pathetic, wherever it has come from.
-
Could that be indicative of the actual ride vehicle size, and this be the point they can swing them outside should they need to?
-
For good reason, I think.

Vekoma posted some testing pics on their facebook Nice and early construction completion of the hardware. Love how Paultons go about things, could teach the bigger boys a thing or two.
-
Fully expect that to be that now, the Skyswat experiment is over and it failed. A real shame in general in my eyes, but I'm especially pissed I didn't get my final farewell ride this year.
-
While any actual movie and images from it would of course be Disney property, as far as I know Alice in general is out of copyright and can be used by anyone as they fancy and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I'm not trying to suggest that this poster is anything but balls, of course.

I'm not mad keen to meet a sober one.

Or... marketing thought it would be a good idea to promote frightnights within the WC16 stuff and it does not confirm anything at all! Speculation is fun, but lets not start stating we've cracked it as fact when we've done nothing of the sort.
-
It won't be finished on time, will include lots of blank spaces where theming should have been, will be largely a disappointment and will have massively oversold fastrack? Sounds about right. Loads of clues there! (I jest, of course. I'm sure it will be everything we've all dreamed of)

I'm not sure you can compare anything much between the biggest movie release of the decade to a little Thorpe ride. The enthusiast community us tiny in the scheme of things. Most people have no awareness of this stuff at all.

I love this one... (TPM facebook) I think it could be quite telling as well. This being sold as actual ride merchandise rather than just being on posters, suggests it will in fact be very close / identical to the finished articles theme rather than the meaningless things we've seen before on teaser promotions. And this one clearly is designed to give the appearance that the wearer is an automaton. Like the trademark! It's not difficult to think of a story-line where automatons, being robots and having no soul, 'want minds' from people who may well be us as riders. This feels like a rather promising premise for a ride. Where exactly that leaves any IP I'm not so sure, it doesn't really tie in with anything I can think of off the top of my head.

... Canada - Minor injuries to female thrown from a Rok'n'Rol. From the pic it looks like her single seat strap simply came undone. These things invert, I'm amazed that's all that keeps you in. I went on one once at Barry Island, I can't remember what the restraints were. It was really great fun though, there should be more of them about! Skegness - child suffers 'extreme burns'. Reported that the lad fell from the ride, but I'm not to sure it's possible to fall from a ghost train without having done something pretty dumb first. Brean - Woman crushes finger as ghost train derails. Ouch. Pakistan - Child killed by collapsing ride. Horrible horrible incident. But look at it! Who the hell in their right mind would but their child on a contraption that looks like this pile of junk in the background? Mt Olympus, USA - No injuries when slingshot able snaps moments before launch. After the one in France a short time ago, this does show a bit of a problem with this ride type. Imagine where that ball would end up if that failure occurred a moment later at the launch. Kentucky, USA - Several children receive minor injuries when swing ride falls over. another one. These things seem about as stable as a game of Jenga. Update on last years Holiday Park fatality on the Drunken Barrels (breakdance). The deceased was the daughter of a an American military family from the local barracks. The accident happened because staff started the ride with people on the platform, the staff involved are facing criminal prosecution.

Well, I suppose it's understandable them offering such a crap experience today; it's not like they've planned and run these Halloween events ever before, is it? Or made these very same mistakes to be able to learn from over and over again. I despair. I know people often look at posters on here and the enthusiast community in general and bemoan the constant negativity from people who are supposed to be fans, but I'm sure all we want is for the parks to be a success. But with what they give us they don't deserve success, they deserve to fail financially in the way they have been recently, and that's really quite sad. This stuff is simple. These problems are pathetic.

It is not known if this (that the prohibition is still on) is the case. The prohibition is lifted when Towers chose to show HSE that the risk that was identified has been removed. So either they have not been able to remove the risk yet (so they won't want to re-open), they have removed the risk but they have not asked HSE to review it yet (showing they don't want to re-open), or the prohibition has already been lifted (we wouldn't necessarily know) and Towers are just waiting for the moment they feel is right. I am still expecting the HSE preliminary report to come out soon, I expect that report to explicitly state the ride is now safe, and I expect Towers to open it that day, whenever that day may be. Just a waiting game.

That can not be real?!!

Not done a little round up of things for a while, been a couple of nasty incidents around the world... Tulsa, USA - One man dies falling from Skyride. Maintenance worker falls from working platform sustaining fatal injuries. Seems the working platrom broke away from under him, it can just be seen dangling in the picture on the link. Gaza, Israel - 42 injured, 10 critically as ride collapses. Appears the seating rig from what looks like some sort of knock of pendulum ride has completely fallen from the arm. What the hell even was this? New York, USA - 2 children receive minor injuries when travelling coaster trains collide. It's deemed operator error and everyone seems fine with that, opening it back up the next day. New Hampshire, USE - Adult and child receive minor injuries as they are thrown from a zipper which started unexpectedly while they were loading. It seems the rides brakes failed. Seems to be a few incidents on Zippers, I want to try one so bad though. Update on last years fatality when the girl was thrown from the AirMaxx to her death; the case is being considered for prosecution, and the family are frustrated at the cause of the incident being withheld from them by investigators. Update from the fairly minor incident where a child was injured back in 2013 at a UK fair, HSE have successfully prosecuted the rides operator as the incident was preventable. More to come...

Planning a ride over a week away? That's damn optimistic as far as Slammer is concerned. I for one will be sad to see it go. With the efforts made over the years I'd hope they'd keep it running now it is running until something major was required again. Maybe the standard winter maintenance is pretty major in itself.

I'm sure both styles of marketing can be effective and good, and both can be done poorly. I don't find what we have seen so far particularly engaging; partly because what has been put out there are all such disparate nuggets of nothing that there is no opportunity to establish any real coherence of theme, and partly because by previously using every trick in the book inappropriately (compared to what was eventually delivered) anything Merlin has to say about an upcoming attraction has practically no meaning anyway. It's all been guff too many times before; they could be actually building the most 'game changing' super amazing best in the world attraction ever, but no one will be believe them based on previous experience and no one will come, and they'll sit there scratching their heads at why. Like they did last time.

These are the two points that could be considered inversions. Where else does the track take you upside-down?!
