  4. My dad is the only one who does theme parks abroad bar disney and universal. His reaction to rides annoys me. An annoying comment like 'well it was fast'. Ergh.

  9. Like!I slowed to let a car pass beside me because the gap was too small for both of us, and the car behind thought they would be clever and overtake me, leading to a 'oh cottage cheese tastes very nice what now' moment for both the other cars. People have no patience with learners, it's like the totally forget they ever had a first lesson.
  10. Nice way of saying she has a fat slightly chinese-looking head.
  11. Awwwh. NEXT TIME. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.Learning to drive is frustrating, I know exactly what I have to do, but when I'm on the road I just don't do it.
  12. On some rides the restriction is only there for comfort issues, and you are usually advised not to ride as the experience may be uncomfortable, but you still can. - Not sure if this can be said for most rides though.
  13. Just a theory! My own investigation might disprove it anyway, so don't be so quick to shoot down the idea. - I understand there are an unbelievable amount of other factors, and so my evidence may not be able to prove this theory at all in terms of queueing for a theme park ride, thanks for your input to the discussion though. :lol:Again psychologically (maaaah) if you're constantly moving it is much easier to queue. People who can distract themselves the most are able to queue longer than those who can't (sounds really obvious! But yeah, it is!) Delayed gratification.
  14. Went to Thorpe the other day and was unimpressed by quite a lot:Pizza Hut. Got to Pizza Hut at 11:00 to be told the all day buffet opened at 11:15 - That's fine, we waited.11:20 They opened up but the tills weren't working so we couldn't pay straight away, and the Pizza was supposed to be ready in 5 minutes.11:30 Pizza is still not ready11:40 Pizza has just come out, but due to the high volume of people in Pizza Hut at this time, the queue for Pizza was wrapping round the seats and joining the queue was pointless as people were pushing in in front of you - extremely frustrating. If I'd known I'd have to wait 30 minutes longer for Pizza than I was told, I would've eaten at KFC. So I had a good old complain to staff at guest services who were extremley rude and were having conversations about me while I was standing right there, claiming 'young' people always do this kind of thing. But you can't complain to GS about GS? So I just went on with my day.Rides were breaking down here and there, standard for Thorpe and it's just so yawn - You trail the park looking for a ride that isn't broken down. And the staff reaction isn't great either - 'Hi why is Colossus closed?' 'We're closed mate *leans on Pillar and looks uninterested*' - In fact apart from one person in the X bag room, and a girl on Colossus exit, none of the staff were very friendly or helpful.Due to the rain and the fact it was just after half term we managed to do everything before 3pm and so went home early, but really did not enjoy my day.
  15. I'm doing a huge psychology project at sixth form about cognitive dissonance and how it relates to the idea of queueing for a theme park ride Vs enjoyment of the ride.In simple terms cognitive dissonance occurs when two or more ideas conflict. This creates a feeling of tension between the ideas and human nature is to resolve the tension by changing one of the ideas or how we perceive the idea.So interestingly I'm investigating whether a longer queue time for a ride increases the enjoyment level - Simply because to justify why we queued so long, we change our opinion of the ride experience to be better than we originally thought.Another idea is of delayed gratification. This says that if we wait for something and discipline ourselves to wait, we somehow enjoy the experience more? Whatever it's an investigation so I don't know yet! ;)Will be really interesting to find out if this does occur, but I'm aware of loads of other factors influencing this; such as what the queue time board said, the queue times for the other rides, first V last ride of the day, their general enjoyment of the day, whether a person has queued shorter amount of time for 'better' rides (eg queueing 20 minutes for Nemesis, and then 1.5 hours for Rattlesnake). And a lot more!So next time someone queue jumps, just think 'HA I will enjoy it more. 'EDIT: Just read this back and I don't even mention throughput, but I'm sure you get how it relates.
  16. Ordered on love film hasn't come yet though.
  17. Percussion. Brap!I'm clearly a kool kid playing da triangle. ;)But yeah, woo!
  18. Stress? I can never usually sleep. ;)Maaah - I just have that feeling. I'm so busy with my life I don't have a day to relax at all. EVER. Either at sixth form, work, have a driving lesson, orchestra, social life, homework! No time to relax. :| I'm going crazy.

    SAW: Alive

Yes at this! They were awful. :|

    The Weather

Weather was awful today, but ti meant the park was empty at some point, great! Didn't see any rides break down because of the weather, but of course you have the standard Storm Surge breakdown, Colossus lift hill evac, Saw getting stuck on the MCBR...
  21. All effects were on today (when I rode), and it was raining alllll day.
  22. I didn't know the ride type was available elsewhere. Just thought TSMM was like Tower of Terror, completely made by Disney (Obviously not, but you know what I mean, no others in the world apart from in Disney parks).
  23. Never been to Alton Towers Scarefest!I voted chessie because although I go in horror mazes, they really don't give me a sense of thrill or anything? I just try and walk through Saw alive without falling over tbh ;)Chessie has the best atmosphere and the attempt to theme is great! Agree with Benin about black forest haunt being awful last year, but purely on a 2009 basis, Chessie
  24. And pluk - A rep count is a bad idea seeing as some members who post well don't get repped, whilst I do.
