    The Smiler

I still stick by what I said about the Marmaliser being overcrowded in places but got to admit, that yellow really makes a nice change in that endless sea of black and grey. Looking forward to seeing the erection of the lifthills and more importantly; the ride's completion.

I went on Tuesday and throughout the day, the queue was at 40 minutes. Obviously it is hard to know if the waiting signs are accurate, though the outside queue was full everytime I passed. I wanted a ride myself but the person I was with couldn't bear the thought of potentially waiting 40 minutes for "X: No Way Out", even when I explained it has been rethemed (changed).
  3. Pretty hard choice. I like both Tidal and Loggers but it is fair too say neither are particularly looking their best. Having said that, neither are Storm Surge or Rumba. I would have to go with Tidal due to its immense splash. I would say Rumba but just feel there is so much wasted potential. Spitting totem poles. Sprinklers. Mini water features built around the track. Anything could be added that won't be too expensive or cause H&S concerns. I do love the purple, green colour scheme though.

I bet around half of the people who say it is "ruined" never even liked the original X:No way Out in the first place. Just seems to be the way this country works. Always something to complain about.
  5. Shame so many of the original water elements are either broken or inactive. I would like to think they would come back one day but I somehow doubt it.
  6. Didn't they tame Rumba back when it was Thunder River due to injuries or something along those lines? Either way, I imagine it used to be alot rougher than it is now.
  7. In all the times I have been to Chessington, I have never seen or experienced a breakdown. I will admit it could use a lick of paint though.
  8. Not sure whether it has been covered somewhere else but have parts of the Rumba Rapids queueline received a lick of paint this season? I couldn't help notice some parts looked alot fresher and brighter than others. Whatever the case, it looks great. Hope the rest of the line can follow suit in the not so distant future.

    The Smiler

Of course. The theme I have no problem with what so ever. In fact, think it is strong route to go down. Where me problem stands is with the whole Marmaliser element. When the concept of it was first released in the plans, I was pretty impressed. However judging by later concepts and the footage I have taken from the app, it looks nothing more than a bunch of items thrown onto the legs; something that does not work in my opinion. I was hoping to be proved wrong, but judging from that first picture, I can't say I'am that taken aback. The structure is great and all but adding all that car washing mumbo jumbo just detracts from the rest of the structure if you ask me. If these effects "giggler, inoculator etc" are truly going to help disorientate you, then fair enough but in reality, I can't see them adding anything to the ride. Maybe one will squirt water at you? Who knows. I just don't see the point. This however is just my opinion. I'am not saying anyone had to agree with it.

Personally this whole "marmalisation" thing or whatever it is called doesn't interest me in the slightest. Without knowing much about it, it just looks like a heap of pointless gimmicks added to an otherwise, visually appealing ride. I don't mind the structure itself but having all those ridiculous car washer, hypnotic boards and possibly giant syringes (judging by the app, attached will just do nothing for the coaster, and may even weaken it somewhat. Still, I guess I can't judge till it is complete.
  11. While my perception of the ride has somewhat changed slightly in recent years, Inferno left me absolutely speechless when I rode it for the first time. I thought it was an incredible experience. However back then the only real thing I had to compare it to was a wild mouse and the Legoland Dragon coaster.

    Colossus

Not sure if it has been discussed elsewhere, but I was wondering why in cold weather, Colossus and SAW: The Ride seem to be the only rides that shut down. It is understandable that a ride may close if the weather is too bad/cold etc but I can't help but notice SAW and Colossus are the only two Thorpe park report shutting on their facebook. Just curious.

Anything is better than the pitch black setting that wasn't really pitch black. However whether the ride going forward is an improvement remains to be seen.

    The Smiler

To be honest, I know a fair few non enthusiasts who refuse to ride anything extreme if it has lap bars. This is due to the fact they think they will fall out. I know it may sound dumb to some of us enthusiasts but this thought can be apparent in many non enthusiasts minds before riding, thus putting them off going on a coaster/ride altogether. Sure lap bars would have been a neat finish, but what with a ride so visually impressive as this, I can quite honestly say 'I can live without them'

That is one hell of a train! I love the yellow and black colour scheme along with the frontage. I really want to ride this now! Just gotta hope all those inversions won't crush me to death.

It does somewhat give me that 'Colossus vibe' Either way, fantastic pictures. Glad to see it is finally nearing competition.
  17. Not the announcement I was expecting but that doesn't bother me. It is just advertising. They have got to market the park somehow and where better than on a giant billboard in the center of London. When you install attractions on the scale of say 'The Swarm', it is quite common a park to advertise the same ride in a two year time scale. They do it for basically all new coaster attractions. Not just Thorpe but other theme parks too. I seem to remember in 2010, even when SAW Alive was being marketed, the adverts still had a huge focus on 'Saw the Ride'. All in all, good for Thorpe. Hope it works to their advantage.
  18. Not top game I know but so long as it is coming back, I can live with that. I'll be honest though. It truly is awful. Looks like something Great Yarmouth or Camelot would have had.

    Logger's Leap

From the looks of it, the half demolished concrete frame acts as a retention wall. If too much of it is removed, I imagine the slopes are at risk of collapsing inwards, thus making that part of the ride a health and safety risk. While I understand why they may have kept it, it is obviously not a pretty sight. If the need for a wall is that great, work should commence in the coming seasons to replace it entirely. On a slightly different note, I too couldn't help notice the water flow seemed slightly faster this year. Is this correct or is it just me?

Really like the new/new look trains. Shame about the logo, but I understand why they chose not to have it. It is possible they chose to retain the original skeleton/challis though if you ask me, the entire train is new. Whatever the case, looking awesome. I hope the ride opens soon so we can see inside.

    Legoland

Crazy! This should have been done ages ago. Agreed. X no way out, The Smiler, Zufari and now this. Simply bizarre. Id like to think there was a reasonable explanation behind it.
  22. The design of the coaster looks awesome, though I fear the area around it won't look particularly impressive when complete. America seems to have a strange habit of either going the whole way with themeing (Disney, Universal), or not at all (Six Flags, Cedar Fair) Obviously there are exceptions in both categories, but personally I just can't see anything other than the ride itself being that spectacular. As for the trains...

    SAW Alive

Personally, I would have erected a small fence around the attraction. It is not good for their image with all these SBNO rides. Other than that, I'm glad to hear the maze will still make a comeback at Fright Nights. I went on it last fright nights and was pretty taken aback. Having said that, Saw Alive is the only maze I have ever been on.

Sounds cool. I will certainly give it a try. I know making it go forward may seem slightly disappointing for some, but having learnt from past experience (Backwards Swarm), all I can say is, ''don't knock it till you try it.' On a different but somewhat related note, I guess that means "The worlds first and only Backwards roller coaster in the dark" is no more.

    2013 Changes

Hopefully, but lets be honest, if it was anything worthwhile they would have given it some sort press release or anything by now. The only thing they seem to be advertising is the Crash Pad and riding the Swarm backwards. Maybe they switched round the trains hence why it is in the 'thrilling and fun' section, but beyond that I'm not expecting much. I would love to be proved wrong.
