May 26, 201510 yr comment_209549 Its always hard to know what is wrong with a ride. Its likely to be a technical fault (could be mechanical but they are far less common) with the swarm and they don't want people going right up to the entrance to walk back again. Also its easier when there aren't 1000 people getting in the engineers way. Its a pretty standard thing they do.

May 26, 201510 yr comment_209556 Taken from Thorpe's facebook page: THORPE PARK Official Hi Kurtis, We had to evacuate THE SWARM Island as a safety precaution, however the all clear has now been given. 52 minutes ago They don't seem to be inclined to provide details.
May 26, 201510 yr comment_209557 The parks never provide details, which you cannot blame them for what with social media pretty much exploding any minor thing that occurs these days...
May 26, 201510 yr comment_209563 Chains on a lift hill are pretty strong. It would take some serious neglect from the engineers for one to snap, its pretty rare for one to break. Its also unlikely for a ride to be evacuated because someone made a mess. Often they just stop operation for a short while.
May 26, 201510 yr comment_209568 I have been in a queue many times when someone has, er, reacted funnily with the forces, and I have never been evacuated from the queue. You just get told that you'll be delayed for however long. I would also imagine that something like the restraints being stubborn wouldn't warrant an entire queue/area to be evac'd unless it was a more major issue and they hadn't unlocked quickly. I've no real experience with rides though, I'm just basing this on my own experiences, so what would I know.
May 26, 201510 yr comment_209573 Probably just a normal ride shut down, but as The Swarm is the only thing in the area they just shut the area to stop hundreds of people walking there and back for a closed ride?
May 26, 201510 yr comment_209578 They wont evac a ride until they know how serious the problem is which often means the engineers will have to turn up first. There are exceptions to that of course, when swarm sheered a bolt they evacuated the queue pretty quickly.
